About this restaurant

  • Innovative
  • Kid-friendly
  • Good for groups
Amongst the leading Nepalese and Indian restaurants in South East London, Royal Nepalese is situated in the leafy neighbourhood of Blackheath. Since opening in 2004, the Royal Nepalese has been given numerous plaudits, not just for fabulous food – Master Chef and Quality Food awards amongst them - but for producing an overall dining experience to be reckoned with. Beautifully put together using woven furniture, light colours and light woods, the dining room here at the Royal Nepalese has a touch of the Raj in its elegant ambience, matched with excellent service from attentive staff. The menu balances flavour, texture and colour throughout, creating inspiring choices each with a nod to the authenticity of Nepalese and Indian cuisine but given a twist of innovation from skilled chefs exploring classic ingredients, herbs and spices. An expansive wine list completes the upmarket experience that is dinner at the Royal Nepalese.

Short notice booking for the family for a Saturday night and was not dissapointing. Starters were the monos followed by chilli chicken dry fry. We even had deserts to finish the evening and could not fault one bit.

A genuine Nepalese restaurant, fantastic food, great service and it's not too busy, enough tables to ensure an atmosphere which is not too vibrant or loud and busy, they have the balance just right. Food quantity was more than expected for the price per serving, we struggled to finish everything on the plate and there was no holding back on spices and there was plenty of rice too. Overall a very enjoyable experience, nothing to complain about at all. We will definitely be going back there again.

The food was OK but well overpriced for what it is. The staff was nice however to our surprise after 50 min (!) of being in the restaurant we were told to leave as there are customers waiting for a table. It never happened to me before that even though we had booked the table we were allowed to stay at it for less than an hour... Something to think about for the owner - if new customer just turn up to the restaurant you should make them wait rather then tell the other customers to leave.

This great little Nepalese restaurant serves really flavour some food without going over the top on colours or e numbers. We have been eating there, eat in or take out, for years and the food is consistently good. It is a small restaurant and not really for quiet tete a tetes unless you go early but we go whenever we are in the area. We have taken friends from all over the world and they have loved it too.

Great little place, tucked away so away from the crowds, not easiest location to get to but next door to westcombe park station and plenty of free parking and the quality and range of the nepalese/indian food and cosy friendly ambiance makes up for that.

Royal Nepalese, Westcombe Park Fantasti mince dumplings, well worth getting. The portions were large and the food was really good. The waiters were really attentive (although they did forget our naan bread). The restaurant is very busy (popular and small), we were served fast but did not feel rushed. Pleasant expereince overall, would definitely go back. Definitely need to book a table.
