Two friends and I went to Roux on a Saturday night, and arrived at 5:30pm. There were a few tables with patrons, and a couple of folks seated at the bar. Our server was nice and was able to answer any questions we had on the food or drinks easily. We ended up engaging with the owners as well, since they were fully immersed in the restaurant - they are a charming couple! We ordered the large Cajun sampler entrée as an appetizer, and all four dishes were fantastic. Our entrees were inspired by the sampler, and although we waited a little longer than I expected for everything, it was worth it! All of our food was delicious and we can't wait to go back. I'm surprised it wasn't very busy, it's truly a hidden gem within Simsbury!

We had high hopes for this restaurant but were horribly disappointed in the end. We ordered cocktails and fried pickles to start, cocktails were very good and the fried pickles were tasty. I ordered the jambalaya and my husband ordered the catfish dinner. My salad was very basic, greens, cherry tomato halves and shaved cheese. No salad with the catfish dinner. My jambalaya was served barely warm and was over spiced; the fries with the catfish dinner were soggy and the catfish was over cooked. On the dessert…I am GF (the menu has many GF options and the attraction for trying this restaurant), so tried the beignets. My husband ordered the regular beignets. Mine came out first, buried in powdered sugar and undercooked. Literally 15 minutes later, my husband’s dessert arrived. Underwhelmed. The kitchen needs to learn how to properly pace and serve their food. On top of this, the place is very loud and the singer/band in the next room was so loud, we couldn’t talk to one another! Very disappointing experience and we won’t even give it another chance.

Food was not good and not very authentic Cajun. Service was slow and inattentive. Must was extremely loud and not in keeping with the restaurant’s theme. We won’t be back.

My wife and I were happy with our decision to eat at Roux. Although it was a holiday weekend and we were eating early, the service was attentive yet not overbearing. The food was flavorful (we didn’t opt for the traditional blackened Cajun meals in full disclosure) and I feel like the value was outstanding, especially in an upper income suburb. If we lived closer, this would be a regular place we’d eat.

If you are looking for truly authentic Cajun food that is prepared as good as the best Louisiana restaurants then come here. I lived in Baton Rouge for 6 months and this is as good or better than the food I got there.

Delicious food, great location and helpful staff. Bloody Mary was a tasty beverage to wash the food down. Reheated the beignets at home in the toaster oven since we were so full, will have to save room to eat them fresh next time!

My wife and I dined here yesterday. With a nearly empty restaurant it took over 45 minutes for the food to be delivered to our table. My wife liked the shrimp and grits although she ordered extra shrimp with an up charge. I thought the grits were too creamy. I ordered the multiple cups and found two to be fine but the other cups were bland. I would not visit again unless my wife pressured me.
