Service was poor and portion sizes were small. Not a great experience for the price
Food and service was very good. Sat outside, I just wished we would have had a better table with a better view
Food overpriced for what it delivered.
Beautiful location, good food and drinks, and excellent entertainment. greatly enjoyed it
We are here for lunch and dinner, outside both times. A wonderful spot with a great view. Extremely friendly staff. Delicious, fun, cocktails. The menu has many options and they accommodated my celiac disease very well.
The setting is so beautiful, but I would not eat a meal there again because the food was a disappointment and expensive. I would go to get a drink, appetizers or dessert because the service is friendly and the view is spectacular. Also, it is pet friendly and great for dog lovers.
The food was very good and the service was acceptable. The real star of the restaurant is the spectacular views. Make sure to sit outside. The view of the lake is worth it.
Server Dave wore too much cologne and was to close to our faces when talking. The bar social distancing was not appropriate. Tables to close to each other and people sitting back to back with 1’ of each other.
The service was excellent the food was mediocre at best and overpriced for the quality.
Food was just ok. A little pricey for what you get.
We ate at this restaurant multiple times over the weekend (2 breakfasts, one dinner). The breakfast food was very good; the dinner was quite bland (although the shrimp cocktail appetizer was great). The service is very polite and friendly, although not speedy, despite the fact that the restaurant was quite slow each time. The setting is very pretty.
Beautiful view of the straight of Mackinac. Fresh and flavorful food. Awesome blueberry mojito!
Flavors were decent. Nothing ground breaking. Portion sizes are minuscule for the price.
Great outside location for a leisurely breakfast. Very attentive wait staff. COVID-19 has limited the menu with no buffet. Food was good but overall overpriced... paying for ambiance
Excellent staff and food!
MEMORABLE......sometimes you just have breakfast.....and sometimes it's just great......Best description......MEMORABLE!
Food is over priced for average tasting food. Went for breakfast. Nothing special.
Hopefully this was an off day for them. We were seated right away for our 730pm reservation, but after 25 minutes still had not seen a server. Even though they were "really backed up in the kitchen", they kept seating people, which seems like a no brainer that you would quit taking tables! No one knew who our server was. Finally a kind guy got us some water. Still no one to even take our drink order. He said he would find our server. Others who came in after us were taken care of before us (multiple tables). The hostess saw that we were still waiting and came over and apologized. Thank goodness for her! She took our order. However, at 730pm at a bbq place they were OUT of pork AND brisket! We had 2 burgers. The hostess was so kind and kept apologizing. Where was the manager? 1. Don't keep seating tables if you know your kitchen is slammed. 2. HOW do you run out of pork AND brisket? 3. How do your servers not know which table they have?? 4. Why didn't any server take note and take the dang table?? Huge shout out to your hostess. Easily your best staff member!! She deserves recognition and kept us from going elsewhere. To their credit they did comp our meal (burgers).
Great food and dog friendly too. We sat out on the deck overlooking the lake view and enjoyed our breakfast every morning... was beautiful and great food!
Very friendly waiter and good food. The only thing was that an outdoor reservation and when we arrived they were not aware of it and had to go check if anything was available. Worked out in the end.
Great service, but we did not enjoy the food. All 4 dishes had odd flavoring/seasoning. For what we paid- the quality and value was not there.
Decent food and very clean. Had an unfortunate error with our food at breakfast which happens but combined with an inattentive waiter it made for a terribly long start to the day. What should have been a 40 min breakfast took 75 minutes.
Great food (Whitefish and Flatbread entrees). Great service (Matt) too. I’m sure things are a bit different/better when Covid not an issue, but we were pleasantly surprised.
Made reservations for outdoor dining. Hostess informed our party that was unavailable. Waited 10min to be seated then waiter wandered over for drink order. Fifteen minutes later we hadn’t seen him again. Walked out very upset. Staying at the resort and thought restaurant would be incredible. Honestly this place reviews are accurate. A black eye on the resort as this restaurant is a wreck!
The kids meals took 15 minutes to get AFTER 3 adult meals were brought to the table. The food was good but the value for the money was not there.
It took us 45 minutes to receive our food and it was all messed up. Burnt pancakes, omelets made to order included the wrong things. The food is also very overpriced. The view from the hotel is nice but the experience is not worth it.
Great views to go with an awesome breakfast looking towards the lake.
We ate on the patio, it was a quiet dinner with a great view. We also had breakfast here daily and that was fabulous as well. Great food and awesome service.
Ok food, overpriced, great view and service
Delicious food. A little pricey but good quality food
This was in a beautiful location and our server, Riley, was very personable. Sadly we left without food. The nachos took an hour to come out and only had burned meat and cheese on it. Riley kept checking on our food and said there was an issue with the kitchen. We went to talk to a manager and she said she would look at the nachos. The only other things we ordered were a sandwich, soup and Brussel sprouts. I have no idea what was happening. We left. That’s outrageous. We were the first table sat for lunch so it’s not as if they were busy...
We ate here with our two children for dinner and then again for breakfast. Both times the overall service and ambiance were excellent. The food (dinner) was sub par and not worth the money. The flat bread was terrible (not sure how you mess that up, but they did). The salad greens were warm and wilted. Breakfast was excellent - omelettes were really good!
Food is ok. Nothing special, the value is not good. I spent the same amount for a delicious meal at the Pink Pony. The food really needs to be brought up to a much higher level at this restaurant. The service was fantastic though. All of the waiters we had last week were great.
Breakfast was unique and delicious!!! Going again tomorrow!!!!
We understand that staffing issues mean the veteran servers are not all back for the season. However, the food quality is horrible. Two different meals over the course of two days (one breakfast, one dinner), undercooked food, ingredients missing from extremely small (and overpriced) entree steak salad, yet this fact was never communicated nor substitutions offered. The margarita pizza we ordered looked like a kids personal pizza and it was cold. Another day, breakfast took over an hour and fifteen minutes to receive (the dining room was not at capacity). Once we received our order, we noticed that both sets of silver dollar pancakes were undercooked, and instead of spinach in my omelet, there was romaine lettuce. All of our toast was chewy, which makes sense as we were told they were making some things the night before as they were short-staffed. The server did offer my kid the last plate of undercooked French toast they had in the back; he declined. By that time it was noon and we needed to go. We were not the only table lodging complaints, as several tables around us received wrong orders and had longer than expected waits. Basically we were told “sorry about that” and that was it. I would advise others to save your time/money and eat at one of the Main Street restaurants.
Terrific service, great lunch menu, wonderful view and setting.
Very slow service, food was cold when it arrived. Wrong food delivered but since we had been waiting for an hour for eggs/pancakes it wasn’t worth waiting for corrections.
At this time, we would not recommend around Island Bar and Grill. We have been coming for many years and last couple years the food has been terrible.
Burnt or undercooked and small portions. You can can a good hamburger but that is about it!!!
This year we had 3 meals there and all three meals had burnt food. Not sure how this can happen with professional chefs but it is happening and it ruins your morning, or evening when you need to leave and find edible food elsewhere.
Save your vacation and eat elsewhere!!!
The food was awful! The worst meal I’ve had in years! Seriously, the Wendy’s I had for lunch was way better. I never leave reviews but this dining experience was very bad. Steak was over-cooked & charred. The flatbread pizza was comparable to a lunchable you buy for your kids at the grocery store. There was hair in my tomato basil soup. The patio was dingy (needed a good cleaning & re-paint) & the only nice thing was the view of the Lake. So not worth the $70 over-priced meal!!
I ordered Margherita Flatbread that came out burnt after 45 minutes. Even if cooked perfectly-this item was a round tortilla size for $16. Would not have been a filling meal-more of an appetizer.
My husband ordered a steak salad and again, even if cooked properly (steak was raw not even rare) it was a small, mostly lettuce salad. Portions should have been larger and included veggies.
We have been eating here for 8 or 9 years and the last two years the food has been terrible.
