Food was good although took about 40 mins to come and the servers were unclear on what was/wasn’t included. One server was particularly sassy when I was asking about the tea options which was bizarre given it was an afternoon tea. Not sure I’ll be back during to service, unfortunately.

Be aware in London restaurants are charging between 15% service charges they just add it in at the end. In Dublin we don't have this. The waitress who informed my friend and I about the menu had a very strong accent, difficult to understand her but I didn'twant to be rude and askher to repeatherself, she had said drinks are included with the traditional afternoon tea, later I realised when I got the bill the mini cocktails were £66 as well as the additional service charge. The introduction about the afternoon tea seemed like an advertisement for that cake company that the waitress have to tell us.

The discretionary service charge is indeed standard practice in London and other parts of the UK, however it is completely discretionary and optional. As we are a pet-friendly hotel, we do allow pets in Rotunda, but only on the outer level of the restaurant, not the inner part where the piano is. I always enjoy breakfast at the Rotunda. I have noticed though that the service can be a bit slow these days and the waiters don’t seem to coordinate with each other. After someone took my order, another waiter came also to take my order. Not a big deal but a bit surprising for a 5 star hotel.

New Year’s eve party was absolutely fabulous ! well organised , exceptional food and entertainment . I cannot recommend this event any more highly than to say it was first class and actually good value for money .
