Rosebud on Rush Ratings and Reviews
yummy food, great kind waitress, love this place. Only little thing is they are crowded and fit as many tables as possible, so moving about is a little tricky but it doesn't stop us from returning. Very friendly and welcoming, highly recommend this place while in the city!
We got STUFFED on the enclosed area of the restaurant. There were no table cloths and we had limited space to even eat. The veal was low quality and covered up with mushrooms. The pasta was like warm when served. Very disappointed of the experience since we looked so forward to having a good dinner.
We were a large family group including teen-agers. The menu had options to suit everyone
and the stuffed mushrooms were awesome! it was a busy night so it was quite noisy but we had
a table out of the way and tho it was a little cramped, we were able to talk without shouting. A good place for a celebration.
We went to Rosebud for an impromptu brunch on a rainy Sunday morning. We had a stroller with a sleeping child and they accommodated us accordingly. The main dining room was down a short set of stairs with no available elevator, but the host helped me carry the stroller down them. The main dining room had a cellar-type of feel to it (in a cozy, good way), as it was down some stairs with windows out to the ground level near the top of the walls. There was a good-sized main bar area with 2 tv (on with no volume). The service was both timely and pleasant. We ordered a traditional eggs Benedict and a Greek omelette. There were 2 pieces of pound cake placed on the table after we were seated. The portion sizes were on the larger size, as my wife and I both took some leftovers home. As a side not, my wife has a gluten allergy and they were able to make most things gluten-free. They even offer a gluten-free pasta. The server was knowledgeable & aware, as well. Overall, we would recommend Rosebud and enjoyed our time there. Thanks!
We had a party of 6 and 3 of the people were running late so we let the host know that we wanted to be seated and we didn't want to wait for them. 45 minutes later we had not been seated and had to go inform the host again that we wouldn't be waiting for the other party and to please seat us, we were eventually seated almost an hour after arrival. After ordering our food was ordered the rest of our party showed up and the restaurant kindly moved us to a bigger table. The waitress finally came back and took the extra orders, unfortunately they decided to bring our order out altogether instead of bringing out the food we had ordered first and we ended up eating around 945 with an 8pm reservation. One of the girls in our party did not like her food and barely ate, she did inform our waitress that she was unhappy with the food and instead of trying to rectify it they still ended up charging us for it. All in all I was very disappointed and it left all of us with a sour taste in our mouth for this birthday dinner.
I look forward to trying this place again. My food was great, but our service was terrible. We went for breakfast on a Sunday. We chose to sit inside and we were the only party in our dining area, yet our server forgot to bring our food. I had the smoked salmon platter, & by the time I got my food, my toasted bagel was completely cold. I'd go back, the place was fun and the food was good.
Just crossing my fingers for better service next time.
Noisy, sat us under the speaker for the music. Asked to have it turned down so we could talk. They kept turning it back up. Too hot and stuffy in the basement, the shrimp were too well done and the eggplant was not breaded and fried but a gelatinous mass on my plate. Rude front desk staff and did not hold our reservation.
I have been eating here for twenty years since I first took a job in Chicago and worked around the corner on Michigan Avenue. Now I am in the loop and instead of regular lunches I save it for downtoen occasions with the family. It's a great mix of ambience, with just the right blend of cozy neighborhood Italian mixed with the rush street hot spot scene. Great classic Italian food straight from little Italy. Come for lunch or a great dinner and have a glass of Brunello.
