Welcome to Rosalie Italian Soul - an eclectically delicious tribute to celebrity Chef Chris Cosentino's beloved great grandmother.
Conveniently located in the C. Baldwin hotel, this is Chef Chris Cosentino + partner Oliver Wharton's first restaurant in Houston.
Home to bold Italian food with soul and swagger, this audacious dining space plays host to the electric energy and larger-than-life love of a table full of family and red-sauce deliciousness.
The ambience was great. It was pretty quiet when we arrived but picked up as the meal went on without getting distractingly noisy or anything. The service was attentive without being annoying. Every course was exceptional.
Great food (though Branzino was a tad overly salty, but crab manicotti was spot on as were the apps) and atmosphere. Didn't acknowledge our anniversary, but it was still a great night out. Would recommend and will be back.
Yummy, delicious food, great atmosphere, amazing service!
I love this cozy restaurant! I'd like to maybe see an expansion of their pasta offerings. I work next door and like to go back to Rosalie often!
Loved it! Such an adorable atmosphere and good food!
What a gem! The aesthetics are wonderful and really give the eye interesting things to wander to. The food was really tasty. We had and enjoyed the Margherita pizza; simple, but delicious. The drink menu is also full of delightful options! Our server was super attentive and helpful in guiding us through the menu.
Almost too loud inside, hard to have a conversation
Beautiful space - almost feels like a living room (smaller than I expected) - wonderful wine list and delicious food (highly recommend the arancini, crab manicotti). Attentive service. Lively lobby bar but the noise does not travel to the dining area. which is quiet and comfortable.
Hidden gem! Will definitely be back and invite friends!
I made a reservation at Rosalie for my husband's birthday because I loved the vibe and decor—which was unfortunately lost because they sat us at a table in the bar section and not in the heart of the restaurant, so I was disappointed on that front.
But, the food is outstanding and the servers are pleasant.
The blue crab manicotti may change your life.
Food was very salty. Not worth the price or trouble to go downtown
Rosalie is a beautiful restaurant. We loved everything about the ambience. It is styled very nicely. It all feels lovely - from the lighting, to the decorative flower embroidered into the bench cushions, and especially the dishes - it's just all picture perfect. Our service was impeccable. The waitstaff is very attentive without allowing you to feel the pressure of being watched. From the server to the management - it was clear that we were in very good hands. We were so excited to eat here because we are huge Top Chef (and all of the varieties of that specific show) fans! The appetizers we enjoyed were the "Great Grandma's Meatballs" and the "Arancini" (crispy risotto balls). Order the risotto balls and drip the pesto aioli into the middle (as they are big enough to make two bites) and ENJOY! They are delicious!! The meatballs were a little overdone, so they were a bit on the tough side. And the "sauce" with them is more of a delicious tomato paste. Still yummy. Didn't regret trying them. We had the blue crab manicotti - and it was completely devoured and delicious. It was literally oozing crab and scrumptious. We also ordered the daily special: lasagna. No doubt about it - it was over-cooked. The edges were hard as a rock and the bottom was blackened. It has a ton of ricotta layered with pesto, and not a lot of tomato sauce - so it was an unfortunate situation because the cooking made it just dry. Also, it is HUGE. 3 maybe 4 people could easily share the portion we were served (had it been entirely edible). It simply seemed that the kitchen is still getting acquainted with their oven, maybe? We very much enjoyed our dessert: the cannoli. That was perfect with the candied orange peel. Nice ending touch. Honestly, we would definitely return. The place is beautiful and the service was just perfection. We didn't complain about the food issues because that's uncomfortable, but would absolutely give it another try.
It was a big letdown. For all the hype I thought the food would at least be edible. Pizza was burnt, lasagna was fair. Good cocktails and wine
The interiors are delightful. The food is yummy. Our server was TOO attentive - so overzealous to please us and to make sure everything was fine (before we could even swallow)... they need to be a bit more relaxed, yet attentive.
The ambience of this place is spectacular. Amazing Decor! Great music! It feels like you’re sitting In your Italian great grandmother’s living room. Very very cool. The cocktails were some of the best we’ve had in town. The appetizers were very good and the pasta was solid. But at that price point, I was expecting a little more excitement in the pasta dishes particularly. The service was great!
All in all, it was a wonderful evening and great meal. But, at this price point, I was expecting the pastas and appetizers to be a little more interesting along the lines of Nobies, Coltivare, Nancy’s hustle, etc.
Everything about Rosalie was amazing!! 10/10 would recommend!
Absolutely outstanding culinary adventure. The dishes were all incredibly delicious, the service stellar (thanks Alyssa), and the drinks so very yummy! The pasta was the most delicious and amazing ever! Atmosphere is so eclectic and awesome. Special thanks to Annie Balest, General Manager and Executive Chef, Sasha Grumman for making this an experience to remember in so many ways! ABSOLUTE DELIGHT
Love the place. Luckly, they put us in the back quiet area away from the noiser area. Waitress was great. My companions enjoyed their food, but it was my only sore point. I had the daily special (lasagna) and it was the not good. The pasta layers were either dried out or uncooked and tough as leather. That is not anyone's idea of lasagna. Perhaps it was due to the recipe using pesto rather than (a more watery) tomato sauce.
I will give it another change as I love the location, but I will pass on the lasagna.
The service was extremely poor.
This is where my supervisor likes to do his business lunches. So, you get 5 stars from me! Thank you!
We had a very nice evening at Rosalie before a concert, taking advantage of their daily special (Thursday was sausage and beans) and adding on the Branzino and roasted cauliflower. These yummy entrees and sides were paired with the very generously portioned Burrata appetizer, leaving us pleasantly satisfied and ready to rock. The service was stellar and the vibe was cool, putting us in a playful mood, ending the meal feeling like valued guests and friends.
The food was great. The waitstaff needs some work but this will hopefully improve with time as the restaurant is still relatively new. They need a better selection of wines and the waitstaff should be familiar with the bar menu, not just the cocktail list. The food is great - go there for the food and hopefully the wine selection and waitstaff improve with time.
Restaurant experience was good. Valet at hotel was a nightmare.
Food was decent. Some things were excellent and the tuna crudo was really bad. The pastas were solid. Tiramisu was still frozen in center. It's inexpensive and close so we'll be going back.
Extraordinarily average. With possibly unrealistic expectations, it was an overall disappointing experience, which is unfortunate because it’s such a cool space. The flavors of almost everything were good, but the plating of almost everything was sad. The presentation at Olive Garden is superior. Our server was very sweet and helpful, but when a guest is paying $75+ on a bottle of wine, there is nothing funny about not knowing how to pronounce the wines on the wine list. Not a comment on the server personally, but a criticism of the training provided by the restaurant. This place needs a lot of improvement and quickly. It already has the fact that it’s a hotel restaurant working against it. Can’t imagine it will prevail. Won’t return.
Wasn’t too excited about being seated in the bar area when I made a reservation five weeks prior. Glad they moved us though (upon request), but it did bother me. It’s a very interesting layout, being divided into 3 separate rooms. Not really a big fan of that, or how close the tables are to each other (at least in the middle room), but the food was good and the service was as well.
Mid century modern with well placed foliage. Delicious food and great drinks. Service was a bit slow but we did go on Valentine’s Day so forgiven. We will be back
The food was top notch (I recommend starting with some Focaccia!), the staff were friendly and attentive, and the décor was cute and fun. Definitely recommend for a business lunch, a date night, or any other occasion.
Service was very friendly and welcoming. We were very pleasantly surprised and impressed with the food. We weren't expecting much from a hotel restaurant, but it was a convenient spot after a Rockets game. Caesar salad was cold and delicious with just the right amount of anchovy. Pasta with red clam sauce was rather unusual and we loved it. Meat lovers pizza was sensational. Pretty good $50 bottle of wine, and the large serving of tiramisu was fantastic. And they didn't charge us to valet park, although I don't know what is customary for the restaurant.
Long wait time for drinks and food.
First time to Rosalie and we were excited! They seated us right away, we went at 7 I believe and it was pretty empty at that point. We sat down ordered some drinks and apps. These were good. The Italian salad was the best thing I ate all night. The meatballs were great as well.
The entrees took so long to come out prob 30+ minutes, they brought us another app on the house. Which was nice but none of the entrees we had (with 6 people) were very good. I understand they had gotten a lot busier by the time we got entrees, but they possibly should have taken less bookings or something. I had the Branzino and it was super salty and hard to eat - I barely ate half. Won’t be back sadly.
The menu was limited but everything we had was excellent- the burrata, the salume board, the shells and clams, the Italian salad, and the cocktails.
Very good in every aspect! We will definitely go back- their homemade pasta is delightfully thin and hanger steak was perfect. Plus they validate parking ;)
Hotel has a cool boutique vibe
Our server Tony was attentive and kind. The hostess and Tony were able to help me pull together a last minute great tasting desert with a candle to celebrate my loved ones birthday. Our food tasted great and we laughed really loud without being judged. Thanks once again.
Need more staff in the bar
Nice atmosphere. Casual service. Food was generally good, but I found the pizza and crab manicotti disappointing. Caesar Salad, Focaccia, and Rigatoni were outstanding. Cannoli and cookie plate were just okay.
Made reservations for 615 on a Thursday night. Seated as soon as we got there. Sever was attentive. Food was good. Complimentary valet parking was nice. Had dinner and walked to the Hobby center. Convenient location for shows in downtown Houston.
We had the best experience with service and food!!! Keep up the great management and staff. Everyone there is so accommodating and lovely to have a conversation with as well. The “impossible” burger tastes so amazing!!! Thank you for the Vegan options! The ambiance is the icing on the cake 🥳🙌💜
This was my second visit to Rosalie and I brought more friends with me. We started with the Risotto appetizer, it was delicious and has become my favorite appetizer at Rosalies. Between the 3 of us we had a Pepperoni pizza, Ravioli (daily special), and the Meatball Sandwich. All 3 entrees were wonderful and we loved the ambiance. We were having a working lunch and were able to focus on the work items while enjoying a lovely meal. I can confidently state that all 3 of us will be returning!!
