On a day where business was light (corona virus), service was exceptionally slow.
Terrible service, waiter would walk away from the table while we ordered, also did not bring some items and forgot some
Best guacamole that they make fresh at table side. Went twice this week for business lunch. The Rosa salad was excellent as was the Kale salad with salmon.
Drinks & food are good. I recommend the crispy fish tacos. Would've enjoyed listening to some music, pretty quiet spot for a Saturday evening.
We had a good casual business lunch for a large group. Food and service was great; our group looks forward to coming back again soon.
Took forever to get our order out. Just not feasible for a business lunch and will avoid in the future.
One of my favorite spots in the City. Great drinks!
Food is overrated and expensive for what you get. My starter empanadas and the dessert churros were way -over-fried. One of the other diners told the waiter he couldn't eat tomatoes as he had just had gum surgery but there was tomato salsa on his plate with his quesadilla! A real millennial hang-out.
It took us 2 hours to finish our meal. The drinks were ordered quickly, but took nearly 30 minutes to arrive at the table. Then it was another 15 minutes before someone took our order and an additional 30 minutes before the food arrived. Some of the dishes looked awesome. My street tacos contained nothing but tiny pieces of diced beef that had had the life cooked out of them. Like eating charcoal. And the bill was more than $600 for 12 people. For wonderfully described but ultimately average Mexican food. I won't be back.
What a disappointment for Valentine's Day. Red snapper plate for $38 had zero flavor. The shirt steak was delicious. I used to go to the Rosa Mexicano in Washington DC and it was amazing....not in San Francisco. Bummer!!!!!!
The restaurant gets busy, the food and location is great. Very disappointed by the service. Maybe a bad day but banging dishes on the guest table and forgetting requests from the dinners doesn't equate to a good experience.
Awful experience.
We had reservations for 7:15 pm and arrived a few minutes early. There was no one at the host’s desk. We waited a while, while staff whizzed by trying to avoid eye contact.
Finally someone comes to the desk (was after 7:15) and says “we will get a table ready”. Wait some more. Finally we are seated.
Noise level is ridiculous where we are seated. The menu has food stains on it. Not an “upscale” vibe.
The food is just okay, nothing special for Mexican food.
And to top off the evening, we received an email afterwards from Opentable saying that the restaurant reported us as a “no show” for the reservation — they had not bothered to check us in! Incompetent and unprofessional service throughout.
If you are looking for a special evening, look elsewhere at better alternatives in the area.
We are frequent diners and have never had such poor service - even at the other Rosa Mexicano locations, which were fine.
The usual at this establishment is great food and great service.
It took almost ten minutes for us to be acknowledged and brought some chips and salsa. Finally another ten minutes, the waiter came by, gave him the order, got our sangria (which was very good). When our meal arrived, I didn't get what I orderd but it was so hard to get his attention; I ate it anyway. The food is ridiculously expensive, 26 bucks for three enchiladas. We wont be back
Met up with friends and baby for slightly belated birthday lunch. It was late, 1:30; we had a booth in front of Rosa and it was quiet and not so busy. We all enjoyed our entrees and our waiter was great. She really let us have time to chat and noodle and didn't pressure us at all.
Food here is not taco place Mexican. It is fresh and lovingly prepared and tastes fantastic.
Check it out...
It was my friend's first visit to Rosa Mexicano (I had been at least three times previously), and she was impressed by the service and the quality and freshness of the food. We had the battered fish tacos served with a side of sweet corn, and the fresh guacamole prepared table side could not have been tastier.
We LOVE this restaurant and always will
Ordered Guac and Poblano Salmon, best food ever! Ambiance and service was good too.
Table and service were very good but the prices seems much higher than our last visit. One entree arrived barely warm and the server didn’t come back to check on things for at least 10 minutes. Margaritas were tasty. It a bit pricey.
Dinner was fine, very noisy, but good food. I stayed after my party left, went to the bar and tried to order the same thing I had at dinner for my husband who was home. The bartender refused to let me order it. I tried to explain it was a simple quesadilla with chicken and he practically threw the menu at me and told me to see for myself. I went to the host who tried to justify the behavior when a a waiter approached and asked what I needed. I placed my order and had no push-back. If you can’t think out of the box, don’t be a bartender.... FAIL!
Bad service. Hard up sell on $16 guacamole. Server did not place correct order. Food was overpriced and mediocre. Will jot return.
Service terrible. Drinks watered down. Poor value.
Long wait for food (40 minutes)
We were looking for a place to grab some good Mexican food and drinks, Rosa Mexicano was spot on , I brought my girlfriend there for the first time (she is Mexican American) was very skeptical as soon as they brought out the fresh warm chips and homemade salsa I knew she was hooked.
I work downtown in the Financial district and bring clients but hadn’t thought about coming on the weekend, now it will be a definite go to spot for us.
Ambiance nice, appetizers and desserts nice
Entrees were very small in portion for the price
Always have fun and GR8 food at Rosa’s
The food/presentation was average, cocktails were average. Service wasn’t very great, almost seemed like they wanted us to leave even though the rest of the restaurant was basically empty.
Excellent. Definitely going back
Came here New Year's Eve as we wanted to be downtown for the fireworks. Even though the restaurant was busy and chaotic on a holiday eve, the wait staff was excellent. Drinks and food arrived quickly. Margaritas were fantastic but the food was just ok. We had street tacos and honestly, I've had much better. We also had a side of Kale and corn salad that was great and really made the meal. I'd recommend Rosa's for drinks and appetizers.
Fine mexican food and very amiable service. We had dinner on New Years Eve and was a good decision
With our reservation, we sat quickly , everything was prompt and food was delicious. Will come back again for sure !
A decent experience! We loved the food. The tortilla soup and Baja fish tacos were knock-out good. Service in our section was lacking (loooooong waits to be approached for orders) but other sections clearly were going faster with their server. The bill added up really fast tho. Have drinks elsewhere and just get the food here. Food was excellent and saved the night.
Fantastic flavors, great margaritas, a good beer list and a wide variety of menu items--from vegetarian to seafood to meat--make this one of my go-to places for dinner with friends and groups. Sandra was a wonderful server; she made the night extra special!
Great service! Drinks and food were a little eclectic for us.
Muy buena comida, fui con mi familia para la cena del 24 de diciembre excelente servicio Ana muy amable.
Overall the food seemed a bit overcooked: meat of Alambre Tacos was a bit dry, tortillas were partly too crispy. Expected more, considering the overall high quality of Mexican food in SF.
Drinks were tasty.
The food is always great. However, lately they have seemed understaffed.
Very good, authentic Mexican food, but pricey. We had a large party for lunch and they were able to accommodated us. One entrée from our party of 12 was served well after all the other entrées were served. We had to ask the waiter twice for the status.
Looks like the prices went up and quality went down. I've ordered the same dish since it opened and it was different. The alambre del mar w/scallops and its changed; its now white rice (used to be spanish) and salsa verde. Now its half salsa verde and red sauce. The salsa verde tasted watered down and none of it had flavor including the scallops. I was a bit disappointed. The truffle dessert was good though.
Disappointed with the reservation. Originally confirmed for 9 people - I called the day before and confirmed for 10. They showed us to an oddly shaped table set for 8 and we had to squeeze 2 more chairs in. Food was ok...fine for something close to our office.
