Rosa Mexicano - DC

The service was just ok and the crab enchilada had a very fishy taste. I also was able to try my friend's steak quesadilla and the small sample I had contained a lot of fat.
The place was a mad house in the lobby. Even with a reservation we waited 30 minutes to get seated. The lobby was so crowded it was impossible to walk around. Once seated the service was very slow and when the food was served it was warm to almost cold.
I’ve eaten here many times and this was the very first time I have seen the place in such out of control. Very disappointed in the experience.
We had reservation for 7:00 pm and arrived at 6:50 pm. When we checked in the host said it would take 15 minutes to get us a table. The 15 minutes went by and we still did not have a table. I asked the host and he said the table was being cleaned. In the meantime he kept giving tables to other dining guest. My wife asked him why it was taking so long to clean the table and he said he could not kick out the people at the table, so we had to wait. She pointed out that he was seating other dining guest as they came in and we had a reservation for 7:00 pm and it was 7:30 and we did not have a table. He said we made the reservation online, so if we wanted a table we had to wait. With that we left the restaurant. At 7:49 I received a text that out table was ready, 49 minutes after the reservation time. I did not know there was a difference if you made the reservation online vice calling the restaurant. If that is the case then why bother with OpenTable?
I made a reservation back in January for my wife and myself. Got there at 6:25 my reservation was at 6:30. We saw how people that came after us was given a table then came a woman saying to the manager I called from the metro for a reservation , you asked me to be here at 6:45 , table for 4. To our surprise she and her party were seated a few minutes later. What a disappointment , now we know not to go to Rosa Mexicano .
Overall a nice experience. The usual, over price food.
Our waiter, Javier, was fabulous. He was attentive, knowledgeable, polite and did not rush us.
Food was good as well as ambiance.
We love coming here when in DC but the noise level is too loud to have a conversation.
Everything was delicious & the service was wonderful.
I love the food here. We went in before a Capitals’s game and it was packed - no surprise. I did have a reservation so we got seated promptly but it took awhile for our server to get to our main course order. When our meals did come they were lukewarm. They evidently had been sitting. Since we were in a time crunch I dint send it back. The food was still good. The guacamole and drinks were great. I’ll be back and chalk this up to how but they were.
The Tablones I received was a very small portion (especially for $34). There was meat on approx 1/4 of the bone. And of the “meat” about 1/3 was just fat.
I can understand fat on a spare rib, but for such a small portion and a $34 price tag, it was too much. Perhaps if the whole rib had meat and quarter was fat, that would have certainly been more acceptable.
Surprisingly we went during a busy time-Caps game and the staff was very accommodating. Fast but great service. Will definitely go again.
Great restaurant to go to before an event at the Capital One Center. Food excellent - the pomegranate margaritas are exceptional. Table-side guacamole delicious.
Great Guacamole as usual...Service was great..I selected the pork belly which was not a favorite of mine..I have experienced several outstanding dishes here..this one not so much
$16 for a margarita is excessive when a simple rocks glass is used and filled ice. Essentially I paid $8 a sip. This outrageous. RM should lower the prices or use standard margarita glasses.
The new decor has done away with white tablecloths which I liked but the new bare tabletops are probably more practical. The change may have contributed to an increased noise level. But the food and service remain good, particularly if you need to get to an evening event nearby.
Bad service, bad food, light turned up all the way, bar wasn’t clean...just a no go
This restaurant has changed its menu and raised prices a bit. I prefer the previous menu. That is why I gave 4 stars instead of 5.
Great place for an "after event dinner" with the family. But highly recommend to make reservations.
The manager was so wonderful. Something happened when I booked and our party of 7 was larger than what they had in the system and he immediately accommodated us and checked in on us frequently. We had small children and couldn’t have been more grateful. Thank you!
Hostess had a bad attitude when we asked nicely if we could have a table not in the line of traffic. It was 915 and plenty of tables. Lights were very bright, server pleasant but slow to attend to us. Disappointed
Absolutely great food and service. The ceviche is a definite must (we got the sampler and they were all very good).
Expect great food, good service and a great atmosphere. Will definitely be going again.
Service was okay, we were sat on the other side opposite to the bar so noise level was good seeing as it was a day
The food on the other hand was terrible, my rice came raw so it was hard, my vegetables and shrimp came burnt, I ate the 4 shrimps and returned the plate. The servers solution to free Flans, mind you I paided $25 for 4 shrimps.
I dont see myself going back anytime soon, if I ever do.
Food, service and am since was great. They were very attentive.
We went to dinner at 5:45, before a Washington Capitals game. The arena is right across the street, so Rosa Mexicano is a popular place. We were seated reasonably promptly, but packed into a private dining room crammed with tables to service the rush. Zero ambiance. Service was prompt. Food was adequate.
While we were there a long light bulb fell from the ceiling hitting a women very near us. We weren’t hurt although there was a small fire in the ceiling and commotion.
It was crowded, loud and one of the ceiling lights caught fire while we were there.
Every visit to Rosa Mexicano is fantastic. The food is always delicious
Great service, great food.
Everytime I dined at this restaurant I always leave with a great experience beginning with the service of hostess then with the waiter and assistant waiter. Plus the amazing quality of food and presentation of every dish.
Great food! Love the guac
Great food. Good service
Great Pre-game dinner with excellent service.
It’s across the street from the sports arena.
Great place before the game.
Great restaurant! Perfect vibe. Excellent service.
Our first time at Rosa Mexicano and we will return. Service was great and the food was fantastic.
Initially seated in a loud area. My guests had bright lights shining in their eyes. The manager recognized the issues and moved us to a much better table quickly.
I had a great Birthday dinner! Great food, great service.
Everything was great! Food, drinks, and guac!!!
I normally got the National Harbor location but they didn’t have any reservations available so I gave this location a try.
1. Unpleasant hostess
2. Only two servers waiting on the entire bar area
3. Waited 15 minutes just to get drinks
4. Couldn’t get a refill, wasn’t asked if I wanted a refill
5. Waiter was so overwhelmed that he lacked basic customer service skills
6. Had to wait even though we had a reservation
Let’s just say I’ll stick to the National Harbor location!
