The food and the service was not good. I have been to this restaurant before and expect it better service and taste of food.
The food wasn’t that great, but the drinks were awesome! Sad that I spent so much money on the food though. I expected it to be better
Always a good experience and delicious food. I eat here with friends everything I visit Washington.
Rosa Mex is a long time favorite - my vircle of friends has celebrated many birthdays and special occassions here. But this visit was disappointing. We made a 5:15 pm reservation after being assured that there would be valet service available to my friend who has a broken toe. She even double checked the day of our ressie, and the hostess assured her valet starts at 5pm. When she arrived at 5:10pm, there was no valet. The hostess promised to get the manager to find a solution, but the manager never showed up. When we were seated, the hostess again promised to get a manager and send him to our table. He never showed up. When we were leaving, the hostess for the third time promised to get a manager, and none showed up. We will not be visiting Rosa Mex again any time soon.
Service was really slow by our main waiter. He rarely came to the table.
Food is just meh and the portions are so small. For what they charge, I would expect much higher quality and a bigger portion.
They’re bringing out the guacamole in smaller bowls now and not making it tableside, other than that the usual great experience.
This is a chain and an enjoyable one. I was there with a party of 5 and even though we had a reservation made a week in advance it still took an extra 20 minutes for them to set out table....at 6:00 on a week day. I thought that was a bit ridiculous but something we can’t control. It seems that they were short staffed and the front desk staff was very chatty with fellow employees. Rather disappointing but their table guacamole and interesting dishes are what we went there for anyways so mission accomplished for us.
Great food! Great service. Have the pomegranate margarita...delicious!!
We visit Wasington for 33th aniversary and spend all afternoon with splendid cuissine experience and delicius flovors for mexico, we are with great feelings about our dinner in Rosa Mexicano restaurant
Attentive waiter in spite of a very full restaurant. Food was very good - as usual. Easily met our theater time schedule. Fairly priced. Friendly staff. No complaints.
Excellent food and service as always
2 different ambiances. Cool dining / bar area and a quiet dining room. Went in front door to get seated and thought oh this is a cool place with an upbeat atmosphere.
Then they led is to our table behind a wall and into another "very quiet" dinning room. It was a little bit of a downer from the initial feel for the place, but we didn't let it get in the way. As we sat there we noticed as more people entered the room the noise level went up and did get better and didnt seem like everyone could hear you conversation anymore.
The Salsa & Table side Guac are awesome and the food we ordered was very fresh tasting! I would return again, but they should put music in the dining area to loosen the feel us a bit
Service a little slow
Especially delivering drinks
Rosa Mexicano is one of my favorites. The food is always delicious! A gourmet version of Mexican food.
Staff were amazing and lovely! Chef came out to speak to us! Highly recommend!
The restaurant itself is dated and dirty. The owners appear to have put no money towards capital improvements. I remember going here several years ago and it feeling nice and modern. In fact I took my out of town guests here thinking that it would be nicer than Lauriol Plaza, not the case!
VERY noisy restaurant. The tables were also so close together and there was hardly any space for the staff to walk through. “Tableside” guacamole was made 5 tables down...half of the fun is watching it made right next to you. Service was OK - the front desk knew it was my birthday though and that was never acknowledged. Food is excellent, although pricey. But if you like a relaxing ambience and quiet conversation, this isn’t the place.
Too much food too little quality. Worst guacamole we ever tasted.
We both tried new dishes and were very disappointed. Not st all what we expected and the flavor was horrible. The salsa also tasted rancid, like it had expired, and we turned it away twice, as we did with one of our meals. Very very disappointed.
A little pricey but the food is absolutely amazing and we received a free desert! Guacamole, an appetizer, 2 entrees and a complimentary desert came out to total 114$
While I did not love the enchiladas, others did love the quesadillas. Chips and salsa given (pretty good) and though we did not order it, they make guac at the table and the ingredients looked fresh and good. The restaurant is located on a corner and the lighting and decor of it was very good. We were pleased with our meal overall and the prices were fair as well. One thing I would have prefer they do differently is to serve the beans and rice in separate bowls.
I've been meaning to try Rosa Mexicano for years. Sorry I waited so long. The food is very good and the prices are reasonable. Had the chicken enchiladas with mole poblano sauce. Highly recommended. Looking forward to my next visit already.
Awesome !! great cocktails !! I love the service at Rosa Mexicans and the folks are great with positive attitudes.
We had street tacos which were good but a little pricey. Guacamole was delicious but at $15 I’d expect phenomenal. Service was present but slow; we had to ask for everything (water refills, more chips, to go box). We accidentally forgot our leftovers and returned to the restaurant within minutes (I realized it as we stepped into the Metro escalator and went right back up and to the restaurant) but they decided to be speedy after we left and said they had already thrown away our bag of food. It was good but I don’t need to return.
Needs more vegan, vegetarian options to attract customers most interested in healthful dining.
Overall good, but not great. Went for dinner on a Monday night. Restaurant was full and quite loud. Too expensive for Mexican cuisine. Beer selection limited, especially since it's bottled. But service was very good.
The guacamole was great, definitely the best part! Our entrees were so-so.
Our server could have been more friendly and attentive.
The worst dining experience ever. This establishment was the first establishment that I have ever experience racism. I booked a reservation for two and when host sat us at the table in the corner we next to a bed of fake flower arrangements that had nets flying around it. I asked the host to move to another table by the window that was set for a party of 4. Host said that table requires party of 4 so we decided to take the seat with the nets flying by. Not even 5 min later it was a white couple( party of 2) came in and sat at the same table by the window by same hostess that refused my request
Yummy! Though a bit overpriced for what it was-
Larissa was terrific. She didn’t rush us and was very attentive!
Service was very slow!
My fiance didn't like the food and my food came out almost I've cold. The national harbor location is much better.
What a great place. The food is flavorful and authentic. Weekly 2 course lunch special for 20$. The guacamole is a must but the medium was more like a mild for me being from the south. I enjoyed the meal. Our server was often hard to find.
Amazing mole enchiladas and great service! Had an amazing view of the Portrait Gallery too!
Our main server was great. An experienced woman. A couple of the others were stern faced and not very amiable. It was warm out and I suspect they were not happy wearing those black outfits and caps. I would not have been. Guacamole looked a like it had been standing a bit. Generally we were pleased with the entrees we had.
The food and service was excellent but the bathroom was not clean
The food is good. I think the best veggie option is the guacamole. It is spicy a bit too much so for my kids. I have eaten here twice when in town. The big complaint this time was my husband's dish which included grilled cactus had a clump of spines. We pointed it out and they laughed. Didn't apologize offer him a new one etc.
Drinks outstanding. Guacamole wonderful. Entrees tender and juicy.
