What we have learned through these past few years is that a Vine cannot stand without strong Roots! Who are these Roots? Our guests, friends, family, staff, Wine club, Beer club and Book club. We consider all of these people an extension of our family who have continued to support us regardless of our building remodel, the street construction and even COVID-19. Through all of these tough times our Roots made sure that our Vines stood strong! They did not let us fall over, therefore, we decided to rename our upstairs space Roots Kitchen at Five Vines in honor of our Roots.

Because of this, we asked our staff to offer their unique family recipes that we could use as part of our menu to represent their roots, expressed through food and rooted in love! Our amazing Executive Chef Omar used these recipes to curate an incredible menu that will bring our family experience to you. All of our dishes are portioned for two and expected to be shared family-style.

    Unique, interesting ambiance, open air balcony that feels like you’re on vacation somewhere cool! The food is authentic, perfectly seasoned, using fresh ingredients! Best restaurant within 50 miles in my opinion.

    We checked out this new restaurant for my friends birthday. We got to sit outside on the upper deck which gave us a great view of the downtown area. Every single thing we ate was soooo delicious!! As a group of four we shared a bunch of appetizers and two meals and a sides. Great wine selection and the decor was really fun and eclectic. Definitely would recommend and we will be back!

    Food was delicious. Quaint atmosphere. The hostess could have been more polite- my only criticism but maybe she was having a bad day.

    We love Five Vines and are so excited that the owner opened Roots. The food was really great and, paired with their amazing selection of wines, fantastic!

    We decided to give it a try this weekend and we are so glad we did! Everything we ordered was delicious. The menu is rather small but still a good variety and so fresh! The ahi stack, cheese board, Kale salad, meatballs, and sliders were what we ordered and shared as our meal. Can’t wait for go back and have their Fall selections. They change the menu to serve in season dishes. We celebrated our daughter’s birthday and they gave us an incredible dessert to share🤩🎂

    our second time of going and both times were very good. We enjoyed the atmosphere and service. Its a very family style restaurant that you share dishes with other people in your party. Great fun

    We made the reservation on Open Table, which did not make clear the difference between Roots Kitchen (upstairs) and Five Vines (downstairs). Upstairs you do not have access to wine flights or the various small plates and flatbreads. The Roots menu was totally different from what I clicked thru to on Open Table. The menu is limited and all items are family style (serve 2 people). All that said, the food was good (Kale Salad, Flat Iron Steak with side of Asparagus). The wine list, available by glass and bottle, was limited, and the three wines we sampled were mediocre at best. If you enjoy fine wine, this is not the place for you. As for ambiance, we were in the restaurant from 6-8 pm on a Friday night. While all of SJC was crowded, there were only two other occupied tables the entire time we were there.
