Rooster's A Noble Grille
Knowing that simple food is harder to execute given there is nowhere to hide the flaws, we go to great lengths to source quality ingredients from local farmers and purveyors. We then take all the time necessary to develop their flavors —using both European and modern techniques—always working from scratch.
Our menu features tried and true staples like our spit-roasted chicken cooked over open fire as well as progressive daily specials and elevated bar bites featuring Executive Chef John Bobby’s latest experiments inspired by the seasons and regional ingredients.
At Rooster’s, you’ll always find something new served with an honest commitment and consistently warm care.
Dined here after Wake Forest graduation. Not only was the food, ambiance and staff excellent, they showed such enthusiasm for our son's big day! Obviously it was a busy day with many parties there, but the food came out within acceptable timeline and with a smile. Can't wait to go back another time!!
Nobles does not ever disappoint. We celebrated our 11-year wedding anniversary here this weekend. Our server, John, was super knowledgeable and helped us select courses that were outstanding. The soft shell crab dish is the best thing in Winston right now!
Always a great seasonal menu, with interesting food combinations and great desserts! I love the patio in the summer. Excellent service, knowledgeable waiter, great wine selections.
Everything was incredible, especially enjoyed the oysters and wine. Service was also amazing!
Everything from where we were seated to the wine was bad. The salad had little flavor, the fish cooked poorly, and a waiter who couldn't manage his workload tried hard to seem skilled.
Overall a very nice experience, but a few small issues kept it form being outstanding. First, booth seating had masking tape covering cuts in the fabric, which made it look cheap. Second, there were several pieces of gum stuck under table, which is always distasteful, and should be checked for by wait staff. Waiter was friendly and attentive, but it took a while for menus to be ready, which seemed a little odd. Food was excellent, as has been our experience in the past. We love the meats, cheeses and olives, which are all top notch. This will still be a regular for special occasions for us, but a little more attention to small details will help to keep it at the top of our list.
Excellent and well prepared selection of protein, vegetable, salad and dessert items. Constantly refreshed, very nice presentation of both the dessert table and the buffet table.
Excellent, Excellent, absolutely Excellent... I took my wife there for our anniversary, and it was everything you hope for and expect; it was a dining experience. The filet and the porterhouse were incredible, Patrick, our server, did a superb job taking care of us, the maitre d' was very helpful and accommodating, everything was wonderful. Thank you.
Wow what a review! We try hard to hit a home run every time at bat, and it's great to hear the fans cheer! Patrick does a great job See you soon! John
Overpriced for small portions. Shrimp was overcooked. 2 of our 4 dishes were warm to cool. Bread pudding was burned. Made a reservation for my sons birthday but was put in some type of strange back room away from the restaurant atmosphere.
We ordered the special which was a monk fish and the fish was overcooked and tough. The server was very good and the place was very nice. Food was very mediocre and not what we expected from Nobles.
Dined on the patio on a perfect evening. Great music playing in the background while we had impeccable service and delicious food! Great restaurant!!
We arrived for an early lunch and promptly ordered a sandwich and a salad. It took over 30 minutes to get our food. Unacceptable! The waiter apologized several times but no excuses when only three other tables were filled when we arrived. Will not be going back.
The food .. and service are consistently exceptional!!
Excellent meal and superb service. Patrick was our server and was very attentive and provided great recommendations.
Our friends and we enjoyed a truly fabulous meal and evening.
Food was average. Noisy environment. Tables and chairs showing age, some needing repair. Service person attentive.
Food was excellent as usual. Also as usual the noise level was higher than I would like. It was difficult to hear what my table mates were saying. The service was slow and our wait person forgot to serve one diner the soup he ordered. It was them comped and packaged to take home but a glitch nonetheless. We will go back but will try to do it when dining with just a few instead of a large table.
Some of the best food in town by far. Super clean spot with a good decor and ambiance. Friendly service and again some of the best flavors and good quality in Winston.
It was an awesome and amazing dining experience like I have never seen before
Yes, I would recommend to a friend. Always enjoy coming here.
Patrick is the best!!!! You NEED to have him as a server
Very nice ambiance and good service. But the value is not there when it comes to the food. Menu descriptions include some unidentifiable words making you think you’ll get an exotic meal with vegetable sides. For $32 I got the fish special but the sides were a few tidbits of carrots and peas mixed with a grain that is served under the fish. If they added a substantial vegetable side or salad I would have felt I got my money’s worth. But of course, the side salad was an additional $9. But the ambiance makes Roosters one of the prettiest, classiest restaurants in Winston Salem.
Food was acceptable. Service was very slow. We waited 10 min before someone acknowledged us at table. 2 other tables were seated in that time frame and were waited on , beverages and bread served to them. After 2nd seating , that waiter walked by us and mumbled he would see who had our table. He talked to someone , pointed to us. 5 more min and someone brought bread and water. Another 5 min and someone came to take order. Just felt our seating section wasn’t a priority. We didn’t order alcohol or desserts as we just ate and left.
The food is so good! We had to wait a bit for the daily menu to be available because we arrived when they had just opened for the day. The food was so good! It is a bit pricey, but the food is so good!
Nice and comfortable restaurant. Service and food was wonderful. Highly recommend. We had a business lunch. I will return for a dinner.
Best restaurant in Winston Salem.
However, can get too loud at times.
Great as always. We were entertaining clients for HP Furniture Market. We always choose Roosters.
There were not enough service staff working that night. Our waiter was wonderful but he was working with so many other tables it was hard for him to help everyone.
It took 15-20 minutes to get first drinks for our guests.
The lunch was lovely but the floors so slippery that I almost fell twice.
Delicious well prepared food. Our group had fish and steak and everyone was happy.
Food was delicious!
Service was SUPERB! Thanks Patrick and the ladies at the front area 👍🏾.
Beautiful decor and was worth the visit.
They made us feel welcomed and explained the menu so elegantly. Will visit again.
The first time I ate at Rooster's in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, the service and food were outstanding! That was in December 2018. I wanted to treat a special friend on Thursday, April 4, and we were both very disappointed. My friend said she would never go back there. A one hour lunch took two and a half hours and cost me $96. My friend had water and I had tea; we were never offered a refill of either. My filet was supposed to have some type of sauce (duck sauce I believe) on it. My steak in December was awesome. This was just a dry piece of meat with no sauce at all and we never saw our waitress to ask for A-1 or something. I don't know if you were short on wait staff or kitchen staff but our experience was definitely not up to the standard you want.
Restaurant is noisy back near the kitchen. Food was only warm. Our oyster salad came out with the oysters a little soggy and warm.
The other door was better. The restaurant wasn't that busy and should have been better overall.
Mixed experience. Service and ambience were good, but the food was mediocre and carelessly prepared. Duck confit was overcooked and had flabby skin. French fries were seriously oversalted. Polenta was cold and tasteless. Cheesecake was very dry. Some dishes were good. The hanger steak was tasty and cooked as requested. The mac and cheese was fine. Given its reputation and reviews this place was a disappointment.
Roosters is a local favorite; from the ambiance to the great food, this is a great spot for dinner, lunch, date night, or drinks! The tomato bisque, hanger steak, and customizable charcuterie board are all outstanding must haves. The lighting sets a calm and dramatic mood and the noise level is not too loud unless you are there on a busy night. We were dining with friends visiting from New York and they thought it was great! As a local and frequent diner, I will definitely be returning to this hometown favorite.
Very good food, but waiter was pushy in getting us to order. We were discussing business and he interrupted us to see if we were ready to order entree even though we ordered wine and appetizer. Otherwise very good place, which I go to often
The food was excellent. Our server, Wendy, was the epitome of great service!
Unique and savory menu. Server Wendy knew food prep and explained well.
Everything was perfect tonight at the restaurant. We were blessed to have had a great server Wendy and John the manager made sure everything was on point! This is one of the best restaurants in Winston-Salem hands-down!
After being sick for weeks, it was time to head out. We booked based on reviews and were not disappointed: the food choices were excellent, the cooking matched our wishes and the service was awesome (ask for Patrick).
We’ll be back !
