ROOH Palo Alto explores open fire cooking in combination with regional flavors. A style of cooking that lends incredible complexity to the simplest of flavors.Wood fired cooking is a cornerstone of Indian food preparations and Chef Sujan Sarkar delves into the exploration of what is already well known, familiar but bringing it into the contemporary world. Offering a taste and appreciation for India, all of India, capturing the beautiful intricacies of its diversity for a unique communal dining experience.
ROOH’s mixology team has created 9 brand new seasonal cocktails based on Ayurveda and its six tastes, or rasas The conceptual cocktails infuse the signature smokiness of the wood fired grill and the story telling culture of India. Californian ingredients shine through, as the cocktails evoke the spirit of different Indian cities with their regional inspired names

Ayurveda Inspired Cocktails - Taste or Rasa has a special significance in Ayurveda as it is not only an instrument that governs how we experience our food, but the overall flavor of our existence. According to ancient Ayurvedic wisdom, the six rasas, sweet, sour, salty, bitter, pungent and astringent help achieve a balance of body, mind and spirit. At ROOH we have created a menu featuring 9 distinctive new world cocktails that are inspired by these rasas. The General Manager is very pleasant/personable, and explained the various menu options. Very helpful. She also told us about the family of restaurants, and the various locations. Most of our party of 8 ordered platters, so we can’t comment on majority of the menu

We had an wonderful dining experience at Rooh. We are not experienced with Indian cuisine and felt welcomed and well introduced to the menu. All the staff were attentive and helpful and recommended wonderful dishes. We will definitely come back!

The food is incredible!! Get the chaat and kulcha, you won’t be sorry. Such thoughtful and delicious use of spice and presentation was incredible!

I absolutely love ROOH in San Francisco and have been there many times, so I was excited to try the Palo Alto location while in the South Bay. The menu has some differences, which was a nice surprise - but unfortunately, the experience overall was disappointing. The food lacked flavor and felt quite mediocre, especially considering the high price point. Service was also noticeably slow. For the $$$ you’re spending, there are definitely better Indian restaurants just down the block. I won’t be returning to this location.

Completely overpriced for what they offer. Would not recommend. Ordered meatball dish, priced at $40 --- terrible taste. Ordered lamb chops dish --- was decent. The hostess came by to ask about our dining experience. We gave her our honest feedback; she talked a lot but did nothing to encourage us to return.

The ambiance was beautiful. The grilled lamb chops, Dal Pakwaan Cannoli, Chili Garlic Prawns and Afghani Chicken Kulcha were delicious. Both the monk mystery and princess treatment cocktails were next level. Our server, Aaron was wonderful. Please try and save room for the Pistachio Cake with rose water ice cream ( made in-house.).

The food and service at Rooh are truly exceptional. It’s a refined fusion experience that takes familiar Indian flavors and elevates them in creative, memorable ways. Even the cocktail menu is impressive — a thoughtful and artful lineup that’s clearly been crafted with care. However, if you’re hoping for a conversation over dinner, bring your best charades skills. The live music was genuinely good — talented musicians and a lively performance — but the volume was so high it made talking at the table feel like a competitive sport. In a different setting, the music would’ve been a highlight, but here it ended up competing with the rest of the experience. All in all, Rooh delivers on food, drinks, and flair — just don’t expect a quiet night out.

Avocado bhel was the only dish that was up to the mark. Everything else was well below par. Definitely not expected from a Michelin rated restaurant. Quality of Food needs to change rapidly.
