The music was a tad loud, the service a tad slow, but the menu sucked
Just a bit pricey for us but not to bad really service was good though
Clearly not the good fit for us.
You have to be very fancy and at least pretend.
If you want to be seen and be not well treated, please go there,
If not pass your way
The pizza was great, and the DJ was playing great music. It took us a little bit to be acknowledged by a server. Daniela stepped in and helped us! She was so nice and sweet! Great rooftop experience to stop by and enjoy while visiting downtown Chicago.
It was a nice time. Kind of club like but a nice vibe
Went there for birthday DINNER. And were sat down on benches, WHERE IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO EAT. Had hard time requesting an actual table.
The server was bad and kept forgetting what the order was. No order books, nothing, looked unprofessional.
The food was rhr most disappointing factor. Sushi had ingredients that weren't listed on menu, and made the dinning experience horrible, guests including me didn't even touched our plates. Bar was good, they served nice cocktails, and the view is astonishing. Overall horrible place to eat, but nice place for few drinks with nice views.
I really enjoyed it! My 50 year old self and friend went to check out the scene and I was impressed. Great food, great drinks, lovely view, and a melting pot of people of all ages and colors.
Service sucked everything else was great
Great ambience, beautiful setting and views amongst the buildings. Only issue was made reservation for 2 for dinner, for anniversary, and was given a make shift bar top table on the dance floor right next to DJ booth and was told we were going to have to move to the lounge in 45 minutes due to dance floor being needed. So we asked for a “real” table and there were none, so we ended up having our dinner on one of the lounge “couches” in the middle of the bar area. Meanwhile some dude was flat out asleep on a prime lounge table area next to a window and staff did nothing about it. So really need to look at seating and reservations. If I wanted a bar or lounge I would’ve booked that. Don’t book dinner reservations, especially for 2 people on special occasion if you’re not going to have an actual table to serve them on.
Beautiful venue. Great views. Really good sushi. Downside: WAY TOO LOUD for 7pm. Could not hear anything from the people at your table. Not ideal for a family get together. Service was surprisingly slow given the tables were only half full since it was early for this place. Most of the time the wait staff was off to the siding of the room visiting with each other.
You would think the manager would recognize the earlier in the evening you might want to tone down the volume. After 9pm, have at it as that is likely a very different crowd.
super cool place, a must visit! drinks were excellent and food was good
It was a great start to our night! Our server (maybe Marcella?) was very attentive!
Good food, good service, music is too loud
Great place before the theater.
Good go o ch lgmm km o
I had a great time. The views were amazing and chill.
Sushi and pizza are two distinctly cuisines and require two distinctly different skill sets. Not sure why this restaurant would decide to combine these two. Tried one of their signature sushi rolls which sounded terrible as it included salsa and I was right. Should have had the pizza. Waitress was very nice, but brought the wrong wine twice and was unable to open the first bottle, which we opened ourselves only to discover it was the wrong wine. She was able to open the second only to spill it, which can happen but then she never cleaned up the spill. And the volume of the music would have been comical if it weren't painful. Love dance clubs but prefer to eat in a restaurant and dance in a dance club, not attempt to eat and have a conversation in the middle of a dance floor. The Mediterranean salad was good, the space itself awesome and the music great, but they need to pick one identity, restaurant or dance club, and one type of cuisine, sushi or pizza, and nail it, because at present this is overall a very annoying experience and money not at all well spent.
Terrible service; waitress did not bring us our drinks which were sitting ready at the bar - we had to go get them ourselves. She did not bring us water either - had to ask multiple times.
Went here for drinks only. It was very nice.
Unfortunately not a great experience .
We had a reservation about a week before the date we came in . After we were clearly ignored for about 10 minutes waiting on the host staff we were told that we have to wait for 10-15 minutes, because they were behind with the tables. 30 minutes later I approached the host stand against and was told that unfortunately we cannot be seated for another 20-30minutes . I asked for a manager who confirmed that they don’t have a table available, but we can be seated at the lounge side . No reservations are needed on this side anyway. We were send couple appetisers , but this did not make up at all for the wait and our evening being completely ruined, after we planned on dancing and listening music while we are dining. Very unfortunate for such a nice place to have a horrible customer service.
The food was first rate as is the view. We had a high top table by the windows. We paid the reservation fee ($10 per person) to ensure we got a nice table. When people walked by, the floor would shift and move our table. We went around sunset to catch some daytime views before it got dark. This was great for an anniversary date. The music was extremely loud for how early it was. It was good music but more appropriate for late night. It seemed out of place in the daylight. The online menu featured a Diwali menu but was outdated. We could not prefer what we wanted but the lobster rolls, the Spivey chicken pizza and the sliders were all excellent.
Make reservations for seating at the Roof, especially on weekends. We reserved a standard table for dining and I mentioned in the reservation comments we were guests of the Wit and celebrating my husband's birthday. We ordered the spicy chicken pizza. It was delicious, especially the thin buttery crust, but skimpy on the chicken and banana peppers. Our House Cocktails were the Strawberry Fields with Grey Goose Vodka and Blood Orange Sidecar with Martell Cognac and we thoroughly enjoyed them. See pics of the pizza and cocktails below. Service was slow because our server, Bianca, was the only one serving our dining section and also the other side of the restaurant where the DJ/dance floor were. She was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu, but made no mention of my husband's birthday or offered anything special from the menu for his birthday celebration, so that was disappointing. She also checked on us, but only after long periods of time. When we were ready to go, I made the mistake of signing off on the bill without first insisting on my duplicate itemized receipt. When I did request it, at first Bianca said no problem because receipts print out in duplicate anyway (...so why did I have to ask for the duplicate?), but then returned and said my bill had been "closed out" so she could not reprint a duplicate. She said I could get my receipt from the hotel when I checked out. I didn't believe her because at the other hotel restaurant and with room service my duplicate receipt was given without my asking. I did ask for my Roof receipt at the front desk upon checkout. Of course my suspicions about Bianca lying to me, were correct because the Wit front desk agent told me they cannot provide an itemized receipt from the Roof because it is a separate entity. She suggested I speak to someone in management at the Roof, but I had to leave and didn't have time. My suggestion is BEFORE you sign off on your bill from the Roof, insist on a copy of your itemized receipt.
The alleged wedge salad is just a regular tossed salad without any notification of that on the menu. Also, they wouldn’t allow us outside for pictures, and as such it’s not a “rooftop” bar.
Loved everything. Didn’t sample a lot of food that’s why I gave it a 3 for the fries I received, but what I didn’t like is the $30 non refundable reservation fee through open table!
The music was of the past century!!!🤦 I recommend just order drinks not food. Situation wad great, service perfect.
Dine inside - DJ on Saturday is loud, but fun! Took a little too long to get immediate service, but wait staff was fantastic! Ambience EXCELLENT!
We wasn’t impressed about the place, I thought people will be elegant but there was a people in Winter hats and sweatpants and gym shoes. Definitely it’s not upscale place. They screw up Our orders at once telling us this is what supposed to be but in manual is completely different ingredients. We not will be back
Absolutely amazing place with a great atmosphere.
We have a good time, good views , the pizza was awesome and good cocktails , definitely I will go back
We didn’t know there would be an event in the mall dining area. I would have liked to know that it would be closed, so we could have planned for another day. It was my best friend’s 30th birthday and I really wanted her to enjoy the experience that truly is ROOF. But our server was nice.
Comfortable environment. More seating at the bar is needed for people waiting on reservations.
Slow service. Looks different than online pictures. Not as savy or interesting, Cold air from vent above. Very disappointing experience.
The vibes were really nice. It’s a bit noisy but it was a nice time. Wish they had more food options though.
Heard a lot of great things about Roof on theWit via social media and was super excited to check it out! Upon arrival, we were tucked away in a dark, almost hidden area. It was disappointing because as first-timers we wanted to experience the full ambiance! I walked around and the rest of the dining room (and the other connected room) were both very lively. The choice of table could’ve been made up by great service. As a fellow service industry worker (of many many years), I believe customer service makes the entire experience! Our waitress was absolutely terrible. The bus boy filled our water glasses twice before she ever even came to greet us. We finally asked for someone to find our waitress and when she came by she apologized, ordered our drinks and Charcuterie board and literally never came back. Our Charcuterie board (which was also disappointing, I’d give it a 5/10) made it to the table before our cocktails. Our cocktails then took an additional 10 mins after that to arrive. At this point, we’re agitated and placed a complaint with the hostess. She moved us to a nice high top with a view and we ordered another round of drinks. After our waitress dropped off our shots, it was around 930pm that we started looking for her as we had another reservation at a nearby restaurant at 10pm. 9:50pm came around and still no server!! At this point I can’t believe it. I felt bad because she was apparently “new” but there’s only so many excuses you can make for someone. Management should have made sure she was fully trained before hitting the floor. Moving on - we get up and go back to the host stand and ask if they can close us out because we’re gonna be late for our next reservation. The hostess finds the server, she prints off the check, gives it to us and had someone else’s food items on our ticket. So she scrambled for another 3 mins trying to get that fixed. I’m a huge foodie & out of towner.. for the price we paid, we definitely could have went somewhere else.
Awful place - not worth paying for reservation- terrible noise level despite arriving early- will never go back as it’s not anything like the original rooftop at the Wit. Bummer
Seating was odd and less intimate than expected. Very little privacy.
We were overcharged for two of our cocktails. $90 for two drinks. The manager took care of it, he said, but will not know for three days since it was already charged to our card. Service was slow. Server was ignorant of what the bar had. She had a bad attitude complaining constantly. Took thirty minutes to get our first drink and only you have the reserved table, pay ten dollars per person ahead of time, for 90 minutes. Don't pay to reserve a table. Just walk up. Mushroom pizza was good but unusual taste. Beautiful setting. Many TVs but show same videos so sort of boring.
The music was very loud with a lot of Bass, too much for me on a Wednesday night at 5:00pm. Small menu with only pizza and sushi options but both we’re tasty. Our server was sweet but they didn’t have the bottle we ordered nearby and it took a while for someone to go somewhere downstairs and find it.
It also didn’t like that I had to pay $10 per person for a reservation when it wasn’t that crowded. I understand putting money down in case someone doesn’t show up but I think it should go towards the bill.
150 deposit for the table for 2 , extremely cold, bad music , food taste like from microwave only drinks was fine and the service.
