Had a nice, long dinner with my friend on Saturday night. It was sooo delicious and exceeded expectations. We started with tempura fried sweet potatoes and oyster mushrooms, as well as the cheese and bread plate. So yummy and filling. For our mains, I had the scallops (I'm very picky about scallops, but these were not slimy or gooey, they were perfect) and my friend had the pork belly! The pork is from the farm, which was really special. For dessert we had the cookies (a butterscotch blondie and snickerdoodle) and the souffle of the day (sweet potato!). We were SO FULL and satisfied. We also had some wine and finished with sherry and port. Perfect combo. Will be back!!
Food was good but not great and the menu was fairly restricted. Drinks were expensive and small. Service was slow at times. Won't be going back.
The bar manager, Danielle, was very helpful in directing us to the perfect wines to pair with our cheese plate starter. We were fortunate to be seated at their table for 2 with a wonderful view of the magic happening in the kitchen. The ribeye w sides of turnip greens and sweet potato were all cooked to perfection. A wonderful finish with the chocolate soufflé and cappuccino.
Also, thank you Amanda for a wonderful chat about history of your restaurant and the farm. We look forward to our next visit.

Great meal for college station. Entrees were very good but a little too much food (2 quails was too much for me—would have enjoyed more veggies instead). We loved the veggies, and cheese plate was great. Really nice to see all the vegetarian options. Waitperson made us feel a bit rushed, but overall we enjoyed the experience. We’ll definitely go there again, likely before going to any of the other fine dining options in town. Hands down better experience than Christopher’s, maddens, veritas, and Napa flats. On par with old Republic, if not better given tasty vegetarian options at Ronin. (We haven’t been to new republic to see their new menu and digs.)
My wife's and my pork was half fat. The cabbage was good. The cheese plate was average and poorly presented. The dessert was a disappointment and average. I was looking forward to eating there and not happy. When I first booked reservations to Ronin was when you first opened some time ago and we booked 10 for our gourmet club. We arrived and the place was closed because of a death in the family. No one had phoned us. I never called again until Jose asked us to join him for dinner. It was a let down experience.
Dined at Ronin for an early St. Patrick’s day dinner! Did not disappoint-we started with the bread and cheese board (which included yummy citrus marmalade and beet tapenade!). I had the pork and cabbage (the pork belly is from the farm’s pigs!!! Amazing!) and it came with boiled red potatoes. Sooo yummy. My friend got the Shepherds pie (which she asked to be made vegetarian and they obliged with no issue). It came with some delish soda bread. We had several glasses of wine and finished with a glass of their Mead!! So yummy!! Will be back!
My husband ordered the wagyu steak but we have had top of the line meat and this was not worth the price. Service was great though but we would not return.
This place is an absolute gem. The food was beyond unique, service impeccable, and it all made for a super special experience. Highly recommend Ronin for a super unique dining experience.
The freshness and great taste of the local produce was outstanding !
It is definitly an endeavour to support. We will be back and will send friends
The chicken fried steak is the best we've had in a long time! They know how to do vegetables. I'm not a greens person but the collard greens were very good! Love the atmosphere there. One downside comment - bread was actually an appetizer that you have to pay for - maybe it should be included.
The service was incredible! They had everything perfectly timed from when we wanted our wine - whose menu is always a treat tasting and exploring - and appetizers to waiting for us to finish and catch our breath for the entrees everything was well executed! And of course, the food was executed perfectly as well. The new fried fish appetizer surprised with its delicious citrus flavor and delighted with the crispy flakiness of savory snapper. The chicken fried steak and gravy with mashed potatoes and cabbage hit with each bite a feeling of simplicity and of purity of ingredients and the honor for such, leaving with a sense of humble contentment for the little things in life. The dreamsicle ice cream with bits of cake crumbs and a drizzle of some sweet jelly I can’t recall the name of right now was exactly how you want your dessert to be after a full evening of amazing flavors. It was divine. Light, smooth, and refreshing it left my pallets feeling cleansed and contented with a fruity aftertaste that lasted the whole ride home. The mastery of craft I have not found to be incarnated anywhere else in BCS. Counting down the days until I can return again...
Our first visit and it was amazing! The service, food, and atmosphere were all outstanding. Lydia took great care of us and made sure dietary restrictions were taken care off. Great job Amanda & Brian! We’ll be back soon!
Ronin offered the best in cuisine and atmosphere of any place in the B/CS area. The service was outstanding as well!
All 3 guest had issues with the meal. One guest had two long hairs in her chicken fired steak and the other two meals we not properly cooked. I would have considered a return trip had all three meals not been bad. Super disappointed as we had very much looked forward to this being a wonderful evening with great food.
We have eaten at Ronin a few times now, but we have participated in the “Dinner at the farm” events many times (that’s an entirely different review and also outstanding BTW). We are delighted to have such a restaurant in town. Brian and Amanda take the farm to table concept to its full potential. Food is fresh and well prepared. Brian does such a wonderful, creative job working with what is in season and it’s always good. Portions are right, maybe a little large for us but taking it home for lunch the next day is never unwelcome. The ambiance of the space is really nice, informal, comfortable, and unique. This is not some chain restaurant. It is owned and operated by people who really care about the end result and we will be back many many times I am sure.
Incredible, welcoming ambiance with fantastic staff!
Excellent all the way around!
Went to Sunday brunch...blackened snapper tacos were amazing...citrus tart and beignets were fantastic
Haven’t been in for brunch at Ronin for a while but decided to come for my mom’s birthday brunch! So delightful. She had the chicken fried steak with sweet potatoes, an egg, and purple cabbage (so fresh, creamy gravy, crunchy batter and the steak was divine!). I had the sweet potato hash with dim sum cake, beets, oyster mushrooms, scrambled eggs, and miso sauce-OMG it was perfectly crunchy and filling. We each had a couple of “brunch cocktails”-the Fluffy Delicious and Mimosa. Very yummy and not too heavy. I loved the whole experience-it was a sunny, lazy Sunday and the service was great. Will definitely make it back soon.
Went to Ronin for dinner again and it did not disappoint! I ordered the gnocchi which came with delicious winter greens and potatoes, squash, and carrots. SOOO fresh and delish! My friend ordered the wagyu ribeye with German potato salad (very light and citrusy, not at all overly creamy) and collard greens. The steak was an actual dream. We tried some different glasses of wine and they were all lovely. We had the cheese plate which was as usual amazing and the chocolate soufflé for dessert-so light and melt-in-your-mouth goodness. Loved it, as always!!!
Food is excellent, very high quality and excellent preparation. Service is still a work in progress but is decent and the staff are very friendly and attentive for the most part.
The food was well paced, flavorful, fresh, and we all cleaned our plates! The servers were professional, charming, knowledgeable, and the right amount of attentive. The ambiance was calm and classy. We enjoyed the fresh bread a delicious homemade butters, the tempura sweet potato were lightly bartered and had a depth of flavor, the scallops were fresh and succulent with a delicious sweet fried rice and hearty vegetable pieces starring roasted brussels that were divine, the chicken fried steak had a juicy piece of meat and a flavorful light breading with a decadent gravy, and the red snapper was fresh with a mix of lovely vegetables. we ended with the light soufflé with a hearty and sweet beer caramel sauce and the classic cookies which were the butteriest snickerdoodle and double chocolate cookies I’ve ever had but also light and tender. We will definitely be coming back!
The cheese plate was a great start to the meal, as usual. It came with impressive portions of high quality cheeses, fun pickled items on the side, and fresh made bread/crackers that were made with care. I ordered the dim sum dish, which had an incredible texture and was presented in a polished and inviting manner. My friend had the chicken fried steak, and commented that it was the best she had ever had. The drink menu is inventive and exciting. The ambiance feels comfortable and casual, yet very elegant at the same time. I always feel welcome here at Ronin and am grateful to have access to something this unique in Bryan.
We love Ronin. The food is beautifully presented and tastes delicious! The service is always discretely attentive. Lovely atmosphere. A wonderful find in downtown Bryan!
Delicious!! My son is crazy about the chicken fried steak. I love the veggies. This restaurant is as good as any restaurant in Austin, Houston or NYC. Eat here!
We picked Ronin to celebrate Valentine's Day/our anniversary, and it an excellent night. The restaurant has a welcoming atmosphere, and repurposes a lot of the original building materials (the building itself is 100+ years old). We started off with the house bread, and that was a highlight (who doesn't like fresh bread?). We split two entrees (the red snapper and mushroom dim sum cakes) and got milk and cookies for dessert (the perfect ending). Our waitress was so friendly and gave us some good recommendations; we'll be back!
food was good. a bit pricey, but it’s still a great place.
Went for dinner with my wife. The service was great. The app was fried vegetable sticks and a soy-based dipping sauce — very good. My wife had scallops, which were very good. I had a wagyu ribeye— excellent. But it was served with a side of creamed mustard greens (not my taste) and a potato dish that was okay. We shared a chocolate soufflé for dessert that was very good, but our coffee was only warm. We didn’t care for the communal seating, as you’re seated awkwardly close to people next to you, but the width of the table puts you farther from your dining partner. Noise made conversation across the table challenging. The parties on each side of us were finishing their meals as we sat down, so no real conversation with them either. I’d definitely opt for traditional seating next time.
The entire experience was excellent. The food was superb and service from our server, Andrew, was unmatched.
I really enjoyed having something different- it felt like upscale food without necessarily upscale dressing (although I would have felt out of place in something too casual/slouchy)- it hit a good in between of fancy and casual that I really appreciated. If shabby chic were a dining thing, this would be it.
My only complaint is that I really loved the options for seating when I made my reservation online, but I would like to be able to choose 'not community table' since there are a few tables of private dining in the back. I have two small kids, so any meal I can enjoy with just my husband I take advantage of but some of that was lost when you're all in the couple next to you's conversation.
Waitress was incredible with her intentionality and conversation
The food was good- We were accomodated in changing side dishes on both of our orders . My wine order was wrong- even though our waitress came back to confirm which Chardonnay I wanted after my original order. We realized this when our bill came. I wasn't going to dispute a $2 difference ( the one I paid for was higher than what I ordered) at that point. We went for the novelty experience- the menu selection is not really appealing to me to come back again, even though we are aware it changes based on items grown at the farm- to few selections.
Best meal I've had out in a long time. Everything about our evening was perfect. Truly excellent and fresh food.
Great food and service. Beautiful interior a little eclectic but matched our personalities. Will go again soon I am sure. Music was a little off for the mood that I was looking for on valentines day something a little more subtle would have been better I think. Great experience overall.
This is our second and final visit. Tried it for dinner and was disappointed. My wife had a $12 salad that she didn't eat. Went for Sunday brunch and paid $36 for two orders of huevos rancheros. Small servings...dry eggs no ranchero sauce. Very disappointing
Ronin has astounded me once again. To start I had the Sashimi that was amazing and the winter salad. The salad was beautifully presented with edible flowers from their garden. I had the chicken fried steak for my meal and as always it was amazing! For dessert, I had a citrus tart that was light and tangy which was a perfect way to end my meal. The strawberry jam that came with it was some of the best I have ever had. My server was extremely knowledgable about all of the dishes and the wine.
Had another lovely meal on Saturday night at Ronin. It had been a couple months since I dined there and there were some very exciting menu changes! We both had the farm fried chicken-chicken that they raised!! It was incredible-served with red beans and rice, homemade sauerkraut, and a delicious homemade biscuit with honey. The skin was perfect-a little sweet and not too crunchy. The meat was amazing-you could truly taste the difference between processed chicken you'd normally get at a restaurant versus this fresh, farm-raised chicken. We also had the bread + cheese plate, as always it was perfect with strawberry jam and in-house pickled items. We finished with the sweet potato souffle-OMG it was incredible, with dreamsicle ice cream!!! It was a lively atmosphere but very relaxed. I also had a couple of red wines that were new and delicious. Awesome service, awesome food. I'll have to be back sooner than later.
Wonderful establishment! Fantastic food! Aaron was amazing, friendly, and helpful with the menu and wine pairings. Loved sitting at the bar with some low lighting. Beautiful food that truly made our special occasion a thing to remember. A place that you could just have and appetizer and a drink. Or do what we did and spend three hours over supper, enjoying every bite, sip. And laugh. Will be going back soon and often.
I felt so loved eating here! The food made me feel warm... the chefs were accommodating of dietary needs, and I would highly recommend this restaurant to another person.
The scallops were amazing, the chicken fried steak was the best I’ve ever had, and I would do literally unspeakable things to eat that sashimi again. This place has become a dining staple for me and my friends. The unbeatably fresh food, friendly staff, delicious natural wine selection, and beautiful aesthetic has made Ronin stand apart from the otherwise mediocre dining scene in BCS.
