We ordered the chicken fried steak as heard it was amazing and my husband had had it before. It was chewy and very disappointing. Everything else was very good!
Ronin is the right amount of fancy and approachable in a beautifully renovated historic building. The wait staff is friendly, informative, fun, and professional. The flavors are spot-on and fresh and the overall experience was absolutely lovely!
Great food. Great service.
Ronin is a wonderful experience! I recommend it to everyone I know. The food is delightful & the service is always amazing. I recommend the fried veggies, chicken fried steak, & ending with the soufflé.
We loved the ambiance of the evening we had at Ronin. It was a celebration dinner with 9 at our table. The very long tables were filled the whole night, we think there was a large party going on. Overall I think the food was lacking a little bit for me - $25 for a brisket sandwich is just a bit unreasonable. The service was great though and dispite the price point, I would recommend it for the ambiance alone.
Aggie Ring Day!
My party felt the bread was overpriced and needed more flavor. Also, two of us ordered the grilled shrimp salad with pepper dressing. The dressing was much too hot (spicy); it overpowered the rest of the ingredients and actually caused our mouths to burn! I felt some adjustment should have been made, since we found the salad to be less than enjoyable. Our server, Dylan, was excellent - courteous, pleasant, and attentive.
We would return to Ronin, but be very cautious about what we order.
Our first visit! Charm, Charm, charm. We had Sunday brunch. I ordered the shrimp salad, which was very tasty--probably six big shrimp and yummy veggies, with a nice Green Goddess dressing. My husband ordered the quiche with an added side of bacon. He found the quiche more flavorless than he had hoped. Perhaps more herbs would help? I think it was sort of vegan or vegetarian--don't remember, but he wasn't very enthusiastic about it. For dessert, he had the homemade ice cream--which tasted really special. I ordered the other offering--little pods of pastry with butterscotch drizzled on top--I think with a nice ice cream in the middle. I found the little pastry pods awkward to pick up and not very flavorful. Just ok.
Thanks though--and we will come back again.
Loved the food, Jacob and the entire experience!
We tried Ronin for the first time. Really enjoyed our meal.
An awesome dining experience all around!
Bad service, nice people but overwhelmed. Food was not good also the best part was the bread
The food was excellent and creative. The drink list was really great too. I loved the ambiance and the space itself a ton. One of the owners helped us at the bar and was incredibly personable and really took care of us well. Basically, this place had everything going for it, other than the service from the other waitstaff and the timeliness of food delivery. We ordered a bottle of Chardonnay which ended up sitting out on the table for 15 minutes before it was opened and served. We waited a long time for our food. At least 45 minutes if not an hour. The group next to us was seated prior and still hadn’t received all their entrees by the time we stood up to leave. I really think this place has the potential to be excellent overall, and maybe on a non game weekend it is. But this overall experience was lacking solely because of the service issue. Keep pushing for excellence because literally everything else is perfect about this place.
Fantastic experience ! 8 of us celebrated 2 birthdays and the evening was delightful. Perfect ambience; superb, patient, knowledgable and observant waitstaff -- none of us had to wait for ANYTHING; she was on it! The menu options and food itself ; spices, textures and presentation were favorable --just not enough of "IT" on the entree serving for the price. Our reservation was at 6:30 on Friday night and by 8:00 the inside noise was unbearable for conversation. Not because music playing loudly maybe just because there is no buffer to absorb. I will go back !!
Super fresh and unique menu! Everything was delicious. Excited, passionate staff. Love the creative architectural re-use. Hanging farm tables for 40! Who does that? Only Ronin. I have to find the time to get to the Farm next time i'm in Bryan.
I love the community table concept. We had a reservation for 3, but ran into neighbors and were able to have them join us.
Delicious dinner! Bringing our husbands back tonight 😊
The food was amazing and the service was great. They were a little slow, but the food and ambiance was fantastic. A great option for something a little fancier in Bryan/College Station area.
This place was such a nice change from our normal go-to restaurants. The atmosphere, food and decor was amazing. I love that they grow and raise all their ingredients!
Wonderful restaurant with tremendous service. Very innovative chef. Great wine list. Best restaurant in the BCS.
Dinner at Ronin is always a nice experience, we have eaten here many times. It is farm to table and that means the menu changes often with what’s in season. Brian Light is a creative and skilled chef so you can plan on the food being great. This time I had the chicken fried steak and it was magnificent. My wife had the scallops and was very pleased with them as well. This is a place where the food is thoughtful and prepared with care. Portions are reasonable but not huge, perfect for my wife and I. We will be back again and again.
Cheese board appetizer was wonderful. Loved the variety of tastes and textures. Best divers scallops and sauce ever, and enjoyed variety of veggies with them. My daughter enjoyed gnocchi very much. Son in law didn’t like his shrimp tacos and beans, which lacked basic salt seasoning. Waiter was personable, helpful with wines and both fun and professional.
Our waiter Jacob was great in helping to add fun to our evening without being intrusive. Every bit of food was amazing. We especially enjoyed the cheese plate starter. And the interior of the building was way cuter than we expected. Ronin will definitely be our go-to for fancy date nights in the future!
Ronin is a Must! If you’re in college station/Bryan don’t miss out on the best dinner around. You can taste the freshness in every bite. Also the menu has great variety while being streamlined. The service was great and he wine pairing selections were impeccable. Don't wait. Go today!
An honest farm to fork restaurant with great staff, a fantastic vibe and awesome food. All this in a historical, eclectic setting. Don’t let the location scare you, it’s truly amazing. Stop reading reviews and just do it!
Very eclectic menu. Extremely tasty and unusual flavor combinations. Can't wait to return!
We had a great time. Wasn’t sure about a white wine, not too sweet and not too dry. Danielle went above and beyond accommodating my tastes by bringing me 3 samples. The Gruner Veltliner from Austria had a nice mineral finish.
Our meal was excellent!
Awesome, as always!! We love Ronin’s!
This is an excellent spot for a date night or adults-only dinner. While the restaurant does provide highchairs, I would not characterize it as "kid-friendly". We were having a family dinner with 3 toddlers and a picky 10-year-old, and the combination of delicate stemwear and tight seating arrangements at shared tables meant the kids spent most of our time there running up and down the front patio. However the food was simply AMAZING and I was so impressed with our service. The wine and beer list is small, but well-curated and mostly local. Interior of the restaurant is gorgeous with a lovely farm-to-table atmosphere and vibe. Pricey yes - but you get what you pay for in quality. I can't wait to go back with husband for a date night and leave the kiddos at home with a babysitter.
We always love spending a date night here. Such a treat of an experience!
Staff was friendly and attentive but it was difficult hearing them over the fairly steady din coming from diners seated so close together. I can’t help but think that my evaluation of the overall dining value would have been higher if I didn’t feel like I spent $150 to eat in a modified diner environment. Consider adding booths or baffles to modulate noise.
Excellent food, atmosphere, service !!!
Our new go to restaurant in BCS
The staff was welcoming, friendly, and attentive and the food was exceptional!
Great food in an unexpected, and beautiful, setting. Everything was tasty.
Super fresh food from the owner’s farm. Everyone was friendly and it’s evident they enjoy working there.
Amazing food, I fell in love with the unique cheese plate & homemade pickles, jams, and crackers, and sourdough bread! The pastry chef makes the best souffle, this one was from special orange watermelon harvested this week!!
The service was amazing, very friendly people!!!
Amazing restaurant in a college town. Ronin could thrive in any major city. New go to resto when visiting my son. Cant wait to attend one of their farm dinner series.
Fun delicious menu
Another wonderful experience. We're very glad to have a restaurant in Bryan that serves real food.
Outstanding dining in B/CS
