We are proud to announce a spectacular new venture in the heart of Edinburgh’s £150 million New Waverley development, which is currently transforming the city’s Old Town.
Ronaq, which first opened in Edinburgh three years ago, is expanding its chain of restaurants into a stunning glass-fronted corner site linking Cranston Street with East Market Street, just yards from the Royal Mile.
The new venue includes a large ground-level bar leading upstairs to a stunning first-floor dining area seating up to 90 people, which is almost completely surrounded by floor to ceiling glass panels providing magnificent views across the Waverley Valley.
We have designed the restaurant to take full advantage of the views across Edinburgh, combined with a varied menu serving the best in contemporary and traditional Asian cuisine. It’s an amazing space bringing together the best of Edinburgh, both old and new, and we are looking forward to literally lighting up the Old Town.

Have eaten here befiore and it has been much better. Food was OK but one of the dishes was very bland. We had booked in advance at 8pm. It was a busy Saturday night and the service was somewhat strange all night - starting with the waiter bringing a single starter. We asked if the others were coming and he rather abruptly said yes. The others then followed - a bit strange but ok. The worst was when at 9:10 we were asked if we would leave the table. We still had half of our drinks left and had only just finished eating, 70 minutes after the booking time - hardly an age? I feel they were being gready and putting profit before serving the customers already in the restaurant. Maybe the new restaurant was a step too far and they are struggling for staff but I really felt there had to be a manager there with the correct attitude. They all seemed a bit undertrained and all over the place to be honest - which is not great as it is not cheap. Won't be going back for a while at least.

As it was NYE only one menu was available which no one mentioned, had to move table twice when the restaurant was not even that busy due staff sitting us down on a small table as asking us to fit in. Service was bad too, aside from our waiter who seemed to be helping everybody no one else helped us. We were sat down moved and then not given menu or plates but had poppadoms. Just not what o expected from other reviews I read online.

Family reunion dinner before Christmas. staff were good, food was good and overall the experience was pleasant. one of the very few places we could find that would cater for a party of ten guests. thanks Ronaq.

Can’t rate the food as we left in disgust. Arrived at our appointed time and were told rather curtly to “take a seat”. Don’t mind a wait, but the explanation was that the rugby was on !?! Little by way of apology - and we weren’t alone. When after about 20 minutes, we were asked to go upstairs, the waiter dashed off ahead of us and we arrived in the dining room without knowing which table we were expected to sit at. Got seated though and looked at the menu. Getting ready to order when a waiter, bounced up “Right lads, some popadoms to get you started?” We didn’t appreciate being treated like a couple of lads out for curry and lager (we are both 50+) and would have ordered some wine, had there been a wine list on the table. I sent the waiter off to get us a wine list, but by that time my friend and I were so disappointed we decided not to give them our custom, and left.

Very poor service, arrived to be told we would have to wait for our booking. 35 minutes later we were seated but took another 20/25 minutes to order. Food was good (we often get take away so knew it would be). They offered an excuse for the huge wait as they had had a walk in of a large table, granted there was a huge table of 40+ people but would think they could honour bookings. No apology was given only ‘I bet it was worth the wait!’ Unfortunately not, we won’t rush back although would always consider as a take away option. Customer service needs improving.
