We tried the pizza diavola, and of all Italian restaurants in San Diego, this was by far the worst version of that pizza. It’s as if they didn’t even try. The salami was chewy and cold, and the sauce was just not good. Service was outstanding, and we may give it another try for other dishes, although it looked expensive vs. other Italian restaurants such as Buona Forchetta, Cesarina and Isola.

Music was way way to loud inside. We had a hard time talking over the loud music.

My family and I went there to celebrate my 30th birthday before we went to the San Diego Padres game. The food was DELICIOUS, the service was AMAZING, and the atmosphere was just perfect. When I go back to San Diego I will definitely be going back to try some other dishes.

Disappointed when I received the check which included a20% tip with no mention from the server and then the receipt included the standard option of additional18%,20%or22% tip. I have no problem with adding a tip as there were 11 of us but irritated when the check was presented with no mention as if they were trying to trick me into adding another standard tip on top, for very average at best service. Food was okay.

This was a very disappointing place. We were really looking forward to my 70th birthday and a lovely dinner downtown. It started with the host greeting. She did not acknowledge the birthday listed, then proceeded to offer us the choice of two tables one sandwiched between two occupied tables and the other by the kitchen. The place was very empty, made no sense. The place smelled of cigarette smoke. Next the waiter while nice but was very inexperienced. We were patient with him while he took our drink order, but he didn't know anything about how a martini is ordered, saying he only knows wine. I know people need to learn but really? The food was ok but not great. The service very slow and the waiter never returned to ask how things were on any of the courses. Too bad, the decor was nice and location fun. But I can't see how they get any local experience other than possibly the bar. The bar looked like a nice drink hole. Janice Stewart, San Diego, CA

Our server Fabio was super sweet and super attentive to our needs. He knew the menu so well and had some really good recommendations. The food was super delicious, it really fared well to the food we had in Rome. Happy to return another time.

This was my 2nd time to Romanissimo and I brought my friends because I wanted them to experience a great meal. We were seated outside at our request. Unfortunately they are next door to a cigar shop so if you do not enjoy that aroma ask to be seated closer to Market Street We started our dinner by ordering Roasted Artichoke hearts, marinated olives and our waiter Fabio suggested Pizza bread with EVOO, olive tapenade. The artichokes were delivered to our table and we kept trying to get someone’s attention to bring us our silverware and napkins that were not set on the table. The olives came and then the bread with the tapenade but not the EVOO. The artichokes were delicious and the presentation was beautiful. The olives were great as was the bread with the tapenade, I would have liked to have the EVOO but the tapenade was great. I ordered the Branzino which was supposed to be served roasted butterfly with parsley lemon butter sauce. It was not good. It was served pan fried way over done and the “sauce” served on the side was more like a mayonnaise and not good I told the our waiter Fabio and rather than offering to prepare it the way he asked me what I would like instead. I ordered the mussels which was also came with sautéed clams. I really did not like that either. The mussels had no flavor and the sauce was very bland. I did not mention this to our waiter who checked in with us briefly and was very hard to track down the entire meal. The restaurant was not that busy for him not to be attentive. My husband and friend ordered the Cheese Wheel Pasta which was outstanding!! I would definitely order this again. My friend ordered the Artichoke Ravioli which she also said was excellent. I was so glad that the other dishes served at the table were great and that our friends enjoyed their meal. I was so disappointed in my meal, and the service by Fabio.
