The new menu keeps up their previous standards of excellence.
We had a great meal. Time was tight because of performance tickets but they made it happen. I really like this restaurant- it's consistently very good.
Best lunch in New Haven! The Prix Fixe lunch has incredible options and all delicious. We shared appetizers and all were outstanding. Friendly service and warm atmosphere. LOVE YOU, ROIA!
This was an amazing date night restaurant. We went on a Sunday and were sat in the bar area. The bartender was a great server and made an amazing cocktail. Loved his recommendations on getting two pastas and a main to share. Would absolutely go back.
Atmosphere was awesome! Food was delicious!!! Innovative and different! Small plates are definitely SMALL - but entree size was generous. Service was very slow but it was very very busy and I think they were a little overwhelmed. Would definitely go back for sure!
Great experience. Food was delicious. The chef came over to us and chatted for a few minutes. Well worth the trip for the food and personal attention.
Chef/owner Avi Szapiro's mastery of cooking and hospitality is the key to this restaurant in a city that can sometimes seem impersonal. Every time we go, we find innovation, warmth, excellent food and attentive service, and, if we are lucky, we get an Avi sighting, as he is always so pleasant to talk to.
My wife and me celebrated our first saint valentines as a married couple here... and boy did this place did not disappoint! The food and service were excellent A+. The quality of the food was outstanding. The Staff was very attentive. A little in the expensive side but we had a great experience. Will be coming back definitely!
The food was all delicious (I was happy to have a great vegan option), the service was very friendly and attentive, and the ambience was just right for a nice dinner with my fiancé.
The food and drinks are always very good here, however the service is lacking. In our past two visits, it has taken an exceptionally long time to get our food. Also, there isn't bread service available (which I recall their being in the past). I asked for bread since we were waiting a long time for our appetizers and my son was getting hungry. They proceeded to bring out 2 pieces of grilled bread for our table of 4. We also were ready to order dessert, but after being there for almost 2 hours and waiting another 10 minutes for our server to come back and take our order, we decided against it and walked around the corner for ice cream.
Overall, I always enjoy our meal here, but it's never first on my list because of the service.
Another great experience at Roia.
Always a favorite spot for a nice dinner in New Haven.
Roia never disappoints. The food, the service and the ambiance are spectacular.
The best meal I’ve had in years! Options for all types of eaters.
As always, sublime food. Marvelous work in the kitchen!
Wonderful food, gorgeous building. When we were first seated we felt a little forgotten. It took at least 10 minutes before anyone stopped to introduce themselves, fill our water glasses, or take our drink orders. But they more than made up for it after that. The hostess that seated us came back to take our drink orders and when she overheard that we were celebrating 2 birthdays, she brought us a round of prosecco on the house. From that point forward the attention to detail and the attentiveness of every staff member we encountered was outstanding. We left very satisfied and feeling well taken care of.
The main course was too salty for me , gnocchi with beef ragu sauce, apps were great
I went to Roia for my anniversary dinner and I have to say the food, service and expectations were all met. The food was amazing, I actually ate every bit of it my meal (plate cleaned). And if anyone knows me, knows I never finish my food. Ned was great. He gave awesome suggestions if your indecisive like myself. Thank you all for our wonderful experience. You have been added to the favorites list. See you soon.
Wonderful! Went for NYE and there was live jazz a delicious price fix menu and impeccable service!
My third time enjoying Roia. It's better each time. can't wait to go again.
Great restaurant; great meal; great service. Looking forward to returning.
Simply the best. Always. Love this place. From the food to the service to the architectural detail. Everything is always superb
As always, completely enjoy dining at Roia. Shared appetizers -- Brussels sprouts, cheese, and charcuterie -- were great and more filling than expected. All four of us enjoyed our main courses, most especially the roast chicken and the fig-filled ravioli.
Great food, inventive menu, excellent service and ambience.
As usual everything was amazing. Avi made sure everything was to the best quality service as well as the taste if the food. I'm very excited to coming back new years eve.
We enjoyed a great dinner and at a great price considering the location and quality. Perfect location for a meal before a show at the Shubert.
Roia is very good! The room is very cool/hip/etc... The food is excellent. The service was a little inconsistent throughout the meal, but, nothing that was disruptive. The food: Salumi and cheese platters were excellent. Cocktail menu had some good selections and 3 of the 4 of us got drinks off that menu and enjoyed them. The Hemingway was the favorite. Wine list is very good. We ate 2 pastas and they were amazing (ravioli and tagliatelle) and 2 salmons. it was a fun night and we will be back.
Restaurant is beautiful, and the food was excellent. Waitstaff was inattentive but greeters handling seating did try to fill in service gaps. Overall, very good and couldn't be more convenient for the Shubert.
Possibly because our visit was the Saturday of the Harvard Yale football game and ROIA was full, our service could have been better
Wonderful meal. The food was innovative, fresh, and delicious. Service was prompt, friendly, and incredibly accommodating. We will definitely be back!
I was looking forward to dinner at Roia having seen the reviews and photos online. I was disappointed to be seated in a lackluster first floor area that was very different from the photos. On this particular night the second floor was reserved for a private party. I would have appreciated being told that when I made my reservation. The food was very good. Service was okay. A little slow.
We have been to Roia many times . Food is always excellent . I noticed they added a number of new items to the menu and I think this is a good improvement as the menu was a little short prior to the additions . We tried 2 of the new items , the Brussel sprout appetizer as well as the parpadelle bolognese , both were excellent .
The food is fantastic and the service is impeccable!
The service was very good. The bread was out of the world.and the food was delicious! Portions of pasta on small side - so good wanted more. Short rib gnocchi perfect yum.
The food is spectacular. It is original and delicious and imaginative. The service is delightful. One of the best restaurants in the state.
The service was wonderful. We had the cheese plate and chicken liver pate. The pate was oily but the cheese plate was good. The bartender needs to learn how to make a dirty martini! I’m not quite sure what we were served but they weren’t dirty martinis. They were sweet. lol
Our favorite go to place for dinner
ROÌA is an absolutely beautiful restaurant. Jesse, our server was excellent. The food was delicious and inventive.
Everything, was excellent. The food was great. The service, was top notch. I look forward to dining here again, in the future.
My absolute favorite restaurant in New Haven. Every single time I’ve come, the food has been exceptional. The carpaccio de funghi is a dish I always look forward to! It has the perfect combination of acid and salt and deliciousness! And I couldn’t even go into the details of all the entrees I’ve had that have been incredible because there are too many things to say. And the drinks are always perfectly balanced and refreshing. The wait staff is completely welcoming and make you feel at home in Roia’s gorgeous space. I can say nothing bad about Roia. I will be repeatedly coming back!
