choose one style for every 6 oysters; miso butter, scallions; chipotle bbq butter; rockefeller | trio (2 of each) for $20
sautéed shrimp, alfredo sauce, linguine
oysters, potatoes, cream, bacon
Food was great. Has the mussels and crab cakes. Both were excellent. Baked oysters app was very flavorful as well. Got all three varieties and enjoyed all, but the bbq were the best. Mussels had marinara sauce that was great for dipping .
In town for the Pitt v. Wake game. Foot was outstanding and service was excellent. From the Shooters to the Shrimp and grits, everything was great.
Service was great. Oysters were fresh and delicious, and half price for happy hour. However, the octopus appetizer was entirely unchewable.
Enjoyed the Oyster Happy Hour and cocktails. Perfectly cosy porch with propane heaters.
Food was great Sat outside by the fire
Food was fantastic, but service was very slow. Waters were empty for long periods without refill. They dropped the check off and I had the card out almost immediately. It took over 20 min to them to cycle back (which they didn’t) and we sat there with no food and empty drinks so I went to the bar to pay instead. Great food, poor service
We haven’t been in about 6 months but always enjoyed Rocksalt. We had friends in town so who like oysters so we ended up there. It was busy but our server was great and very attentive. The food however was disappointing. It was just off the mark overall. Oysters were good. The octopus was overcooked and extremely chewy. We also had mussels in a curry broth, sounded better than it was, I’ll stick to white wine sauce. Friends dishes were just ok as well. Every place has off nights so we’ll go back again, hopefully next time it will be better.
Fabulous meal! Rhonda was a great server and the Corvina was spectacular. Ribeye was very good also. One of our favorite meals in Charlotte. We will definitely return!
Amazing service and food! Would definitely go back!
We had been looking forward to their very fresh otsters
We sat at the bar and the service was great! Oysters and octopus starters were great. Crab cakes and swordfish special were really really good! Drinks and desert were also on point. Very happy with everything and will definitely be going back!!
The oysters were great, the heated outdoor patio was nice and our sever Kat was simply amazing. I could not have asked for a better experience. This will be my new place.
Great little place to enjoy some delicious food! Oysters were tasty and the blackened mahi was outstanding!
My portion of scallops dinner was on 1/4th of the plate. It was delicious, but wish there was more of the veggie.
Over priced. Food was ok, had to pay for bread ?? Were in comparable places its offered complimentary. Overall it was okay, the atmosphere in the inside dining room was dead and empty as everyone was Dinning outside. We sat outside for few minutes then I asked to be seated inside due to cold. Noone offered to turn the outdoor heaters on...I didn't see them to ask for then to be turned on...anyways. Our waitress was very nice.
Had a great time and our server was great!
Oysters were great. Cioppino was delicious but not traditional and a little pricey. Overall a very good meal and I'd go back.
We come to Rock Salt often so the service is always wonderful, as well as the oysters!
Food was average. Our service person was great and personable. Made the night.
Sadly, first time giving a bad review to RockSalt. Food has changed, Old Fashion was horrible, might be a while until we head back. Sad, one of our favorite restaurants in Charlotte.
Really good and fresh food.
What we ordered was good. End of week some items not available and some items served inconsistent with menu description. Ie potatoes with burger what not as described nor did server advise. Still was very good.
Shrimp cocktail ordered but not shown perfectly cooked and great sauce
The menu looks better than it tastes. The chowder was runny, the oyster Rockefeller was gross! The server was not into her job.
It took forever to be waited on. We had to remind our waitress to check on our food.
The service is terrible. My wife and son got up and waited in the car for 10 minutes for me to wait for the bill. The restaurant was not full. I stood by the door for five minutes waiting for my credit card to be run. I would skip
another wonderful meal, love the variety on the menu, something for everyone and soo good, great service and we look forward to seeing what the menu has next visit
This is our favorite place in Charlotte! Best oysters in town!
We were a party of three and enjoyed the outdoor patio seats. There is a nice wine, drink, and beer selection. We ordered two appetizers: half a pound peel & eat shrimp…very disappointing! The shrimp size was good, but there were only about 5 or 6, they were in a small bowl that actually had more vegetables underneath than we had shrimp. We also ordered the grilled oyster sampler, which had six oysters of three different flavors… they were very tasty! For dinner, we ordered the fish of the day which was a grilled grouper. We also ordered the scallops entrée. And we ordered a dozen oysters. Again, the scallop entrée was disappointing and only had four scallops. They were cooked good, just not near enough. The grouper was a nice size, so that was refreshing to see, and tasted pretty good. And the selection of oysters to order from was nice. But overall for the prices of all of these items we are not sure we could recommend that it’s worth it. We did leave saying that we may return, just to order oysters sometime, and some adult beverages, but probably not for any of the other menu items.
Amazing oysters and chowder. Excellent drinks - had a great outdoor dining experience on their patio.
The interaction with the host when we first walked in set the tone for our entire experience. We were not greeted, which is unusual for any restaurant, but especially for one charging $32 for scallops. Honestly, I thought I hadn't heard him, but my friend confirmed that he didn't acknowledge us. He only asked, "What's the name on the reservation?", and that's it. And his tone was not warm or friendly. We were definitely bothering him by just being there. The food and drinks I had were middle of the road (the crab cakes were good, skip the mac n cheese), therefore I don't feel the need to even visit again.
Our server was awesome and very attentive. Our oysters, Mac & Cheese, and creme brûlée were delish. The trout dip is a TON for 2 people and unique flavor. Didn’t love it. Moscow mule, old fashion, and espresso martini were great. Apple Rita was way too strong. Neither of us could tolerate it. Overall, we would certainly come back and try some more things!
The food is amazing and the outdoor patio has great ambiance.
Great place for oysters...really good shrimp and grits....portions are a bit small and the wines by the glass were unimpressive....nice outdoor dining area...solid local place
Food was excelent, service was top notch. they were a little short staffed so things took a few minutes longer. But no worries. Its worth the wait.
Good was really good!!
Best oyster chowder in Charlotte! The mussels in white wine were outstanding! A place where you always find fresh fish of the highest quality!
Rocksalt is the first place I must always go while in Charlotte! I LOVE their old salt oysters during happy hour and the oyster chowder was the best I’ve ever had! I highly recommend. It was pretty busy and seemed short staff but they made sure to do their best to stay on top of it l, getting each customer what they needed and as soon as they could. My cup was always filled with water at least and that I appreciated. The food didn’t take long to come at all either. I will always visit while in Charlotte.
The server was pleasant, the food presentation was very nice, taste of all food was flavorful. Price to portion slightly off, but overall I woule recommend.
Shockingly bad. We went for brunch and were served burnt toast and eggs that were obviously cooked on a filthy grill - the whites were a bizarre bluish gray. I can’t believe they’d send something out that looked like that. One of our party ordered a Coke but was told the restaurant was out of Coke. Another asked for lettuce and tomato on their burger and was told there was none available. The oyster chowder was salty to the point on inedibility. To top it off, our server was inattentive and had to be waved down to take our drink order 10+ min after we were seated. We will never come back here again.
We know in this day of COVID & restaurants being short staffed, we try.to be patient. There is patient & then beyond. Our food was very slow to come & when it got there just not very good. We ordered PEI mussels - 2 orders & waited forever for those to come. When they did, they were full of grit & inedible. We left them on our plates & our waitress never asked what was wrong. Rather than her telling the manager there was a problem, she asked if we would tell him the order was slow & it was not good. Obviously, we left the restaurant, after paying the full bill & will never go back.
