We were there for my daughter’s birthday. Food was incredibly salty - we couldn’t eat the pizza at all. Server was nice but did not come check on us very much.
It was all sub par from the food to the entire experience. I wasn’t expecting anything extravagant but it was underwhelming to say the very least.
Food and ambiance was very nice. Dined there while on vacation. Service was good and presentation was also nice.
Went on a Sunday morning. Didn't have Canadian bacon for eggs Benedict. Wasn't that crowded and service was slow. Little pricey.
Danielle was the most amazing waitress we have had in a long time. The food was to die for.
We had been to Rocks on the River several years ago, and it was fantastic! Thus, the reason that I booked for our recent visit. While there this time, the view was blocked due to some large round walk-through structure that had been added. We had a false fire alarm while waiting for our table that resulted in everyone being evacuated! Once we finally sat down, I asked the waitress about the steak option... and upon her recommendation, I ordered it. The steak wasn't great. It wasn't even good. It was swimming in Teriyaki sauce and the green beans were WAY too spicy. I had to send it back. I reordered... and carried on with the evening. Thank goodness for the bar! I would pick a different restaurant the next time we visit. It wasn't what I remembered it to be.
Amazing food tonight. We sat outside with our dogs and enjoyed our meal. I had the pork rib eye and my wife had the lobster Mac and cheese with the barbecued baby back ribs. Great job everybody at this restaurant. It is my pleasure to recommend this location for a lunch or dinner.
To begin, I've only eaten at this restaurant four times, but being from Boston its a bit of a hike! However, since my first visit to Savannah, this has been the place I have dinner ASAP whenever I visit...until now.
I've always enjoyed favorable food and impeccable service until my visit tonight. I ordered the pork rib eye and requested a salad as a bit of an appetizer. However my $3 salad arrived at the same time as the much more expensive entree. Forgive me for being particular but even the people at TGIF understand that salad comes (and hopefully is consumed) BEFORE the meal. To me that's basic, not rocket science.
To makes things worse, when it all arrived together I tried to (less than subtly) hint to the waitress my displeasure, pushing the entree away and eating my salad. Even when I requested a box for a clearly untouched meal, she never bothered to inquire why. (Again in honesty, I sampled a green been to test the temp after I'd finished my salad, cold as creek water)
My partner is a restaurant GM and I try hard not to be overly critical, but this was just subpar all around. Hopefully my $30 fancy pork chop is just as good cold in my room...
We go to Rocks frequently and we were a bit disappointed this time. The food was okay but not as good as previous times. the shrimp and grits which has been a favorite was changed quite a bit adding onions and green pepper. We will be back but weren't as pleased as usual.
Enjoyed a couples date night with some friends. The cuisine was excellent! We all had some variation of seafood (grilled salmon, fried oysters, seafood chowder, seafood linguini) ask each dish was delicious. The atmosphere was relaxed and our table was near a window with a view of the riverfront. Excellent dining experience.
Staff was nice, decor was pretty, food was average. We went to rooftop bar after and experienced an extremely confrontational woman screaming, yelling and trying to start fights. The staff did nothing to stop it. Ruined our experience so we left immediately.
Always a great breakfast during our stays in Savannah!
The food and the service was outstanding. It's the idiots walking by and driving by in their vehicles playing loud music and cussing that makes it an unpleasant experience outdoors. So unless you're willing to entertain that you might wanna sit inside.
We visited Savannah briefly, and this restaurant was a highlight of the trip. Beautiful surrounding and outstanding food. We ordered many things, from appetizers, soup and salad through main course, and all was great! The server was helpful and polite and the facilities were very clean. Thank you!
The server was very awkward and kept interrupting. The food was basic bar food and was mediocre and the atmosphere felt like a high dollar cafeteria!
Would not go back.
The food was very disappointing -- how can you screw up shrimp & grits? I don't wish to be unkind but this is a bit of a tourist-trap ...
Great food for adults. Kids meal prices were misleading but they loved their food. The atmosphere was great and it was great to have view of river.
Over priced for eggs. Lots of better brunch places in savannah near the park areas.
I did a Lady's lunch. Everything was so nice. The service was top notch
We dine in the restaurant area then went up stairs to the rooftop and cocktails and enjoy the scenery. Will be coming back in the very near future.
Excellent food and service! I've always loved this restaurant and I make it a point to eat there at least once every time I travel to Savannah. It's in a beautiful/scenic location, the atmosphere is great, they have a friendly/welcoming environment, and like I said -- excellent food and service.
Sadly this place looks and feels great but the menu is limited, the food was not tasty and we all got the scoots afterwards, we think from the calamari.
Our server ,Tyler/Kevin, was a character.
He was funny, lively, so friendly and attentive to our needs. The food was exceptional
The food was good but for for the price we paid I expected bigger portions.
The service was outstanding. The staff was friendly and accommodating to our needs.
Good food with large portions.
Never disappointed by Rocks on the River. We stop in Savannah every time we go from Florida to North Carolina and almost always have dinner at Rocks. Great service and food.
We have been there several times. The food is always good and well done. They did run out of oysters which was disappointing however the calamari made up for it. Bohemian Salad was excellent. Terrific service.
Our meal and drinks took so long we had to keep asking if we were completely forgotten. Wait staff never even apologized or commented on the time it took. Will never go back.
Food just took a while to come out but once it did it was totally worth the wait! Sooo good! Highly recommend this place. Also loved the bar and tapas on the rooftop.
Beautiful hotel and restaurant and the shrimp and grits were to die for!
We took a group for Buds and Burgers night and chose Rocks because it was a bit more upscale than some of the other locations offering the specialty burgers. However, the burgers were all very average with low quality meat and mine was not cooked as I had requested. The fries were not even average. The server seems surprised when we asked for ketchup, and mustard....Such a lovely restaurant but it has apparently succumbed to being another tourist trap and does not care about quality for those of us that live in Savannah.
Second time going was Sunday and I was just as pleased then as I was the first time I went.
Great food, great location on river. Drinks before on the roof with view of ships on the river!!
We went for lunch when we first arrived in Savannah. The food, drinks and service were all terrible. The sangria was awful... the Coke was flat and they gave us an attitude when we asked for a new drink .
I had the pizza and it was cold. My husband and friend had the burgers which were over cooked. Our waitress was Petra and she was rude, barely spoke English and gave us an attitude when we asked for anything.
For a beautiful restaurant with great views it was seriously disappointing. Never again.
Went there on a slow Wed night. Nobody greeted us a the table for amount 10 minutes. Could not really understand the waiter. He was running around but was nice. Food was good but a little overpriced for what we got. Have been there before and had a better experience. There are so many restaurants in Savannah not sure if I would return
One big problem: ran out of catch of the day. If you're not a big crab or lobster fan and tired of salmon, you were out of luck.
Fortunately, the mushroom pizza was quite satisfactory. My wife enjoyed a unique spaetzle dinner.
Rebecca was a great server. Attentive, engaging, funny.
We sat out front and had a great view of the river and the people walking up and down the Riverwalk.
Beautiful restaurant, great food. Waitress Rachael was awesome, very friendly and was on point when we asked questions about food. She was not the hovering type which was great. Can’t wait to go back.
The hostess was quite mean and seemed annoyed when we asked for a better location away from the noisy bar. The hostess was great and very accommodating. However, we were quite underwhelmed by the food.
Party of 5 with reservations. We arrived and were told our reservation would not be honored because others would be arriving. It almost felt like a joke. Especially since the restaurant was 3 tables from being completely empty. Manager was extremely rude and got confrontational immediately as if she was expected our response to be less than respectful. May I add that our group very respectfully heard the manager out, at which point we all decided that even a change of mind from the manager would not be grounds to give this restaurant our money and business. Do not go here. This place is one you wont ever regret not visiting given the 100's of other excellent restaurants in Savannah. 100's of other restaurants that would never deny planned reservations with some type of really weird excuse such as "others will be arriving soon".
For being a high end Marriott restaurant this was a huge disappointment. Much too long to be greeted by a server after being seated, maybe 10 minutes. We literally watched other parties get up and leave due to slow greeting. Food was good and maybe they were short handed. This was on Memorial Day weekend. Nevertheless a disappointment. When they brought our check the folia was empty except for my card and a pen. Just simple incompetence.
