Rock Bottom Brewery Restaurant - Indianapolis

I had lunch with a client and a co-worker there this week and the casual atmosphere worked very well. The Brewer's Cobb Salad is one of my go-to favorites. Lots of fresh ingredients (and bacon!). Service is always good and provided by earnest and friendly servers. Rockbottom is particularly good as a lunch place when you want a step above the usual but don't want to go too formal or costly.
great place to sit back and relax with a beer and good food
Excellent service, food was great. Some food was not as hot as it should be but still tasted great and server responded very quickly to all requests. My first time in Indianapolis and now I’m home dreaming about the ribs from Rock Bottom. I definitely would go back!!!
Reliably good food and beer. Service tends to be a bit slow.
Our waitress was awesome. The restaurant was dead and the lights were on full blast. There was zero atmosphere.
We came for an early dinner prior to going to see the Indianapolis Symphony! Rock Bottom is conveniently located and was a perfect pre-concert meal!!
Food quality and service has diminished over the years. We loved this place 20 years ago. Salad was soggy, bowl of soup was cup size at most places and do not order cajun food in an American chain restaurant. Our server was okay, but I think she wanted to be elsewhere. We will skip this place during race weekend next year. Too many awesome places to eat downtown.
I was blown away- in a bad way. I in from out of town with my wife and 2 kids for the Indy 500. Because it was race day, I expected it might be very crowded for dinner, which is why we made a reservation. We arrived 5 minutes early, but were told that they would not honor our reservation, as they “had a large number of walk-ups”. I tried to explain that I expected that, thus the reservation! She just looked at me and said “sorry”. Of course, every other restaurant was also jammed, so we had fast food... I’ll never go to Rock Bottom Brewery again.
Food very so so, my wings were small portion for large order price, not hot and small pieces
The service was as extremely slow. They wait staff had trouble getting the orders input on their iPads correctly. The iPads seemed to create inefficientcies.
We witnessed one waitress spill food off a plate as she was serving it. She used her hands to scoop the food back onto the plate and still tried to serve it to the customer.
Multiple items that we ordered were delivered incorrectly. It was clear when they “corrected” one of the orders that simply scraped the incorrect food off. We could still taste the items that had previously been on the plate.
Excellent choice before concert, this time at the Hilbert Circle Theater. Beverages were perfect, table was outside, plenty of street activity to watch, large umbrella to shelter us from the sun. Service was fast and efficient. Our table was ready when we arrived.
We were a large party and our server was overwhelmed. Took forever for drinks to come out. One person in our group never got her entree. Server was very flustered and overwhelmed during the whole meal.
Rock Bottom is our go to eating location - convenient, great menu and good prices, good service.
Dirty, cold food, standing out in the rain for 15 minutes when they could have set me and my mother.
Great beers and reasonably priced for the atmosphere and downtown dining.
The food was good, of course the location is as well. However, it was a concert night, 5/5, and if I were the owner I would be sickened. We saw no less than 35 people turned away because of broken equipment and lack of staff. Our server told us that 70 people had been turned away, and there were dozens of tables empty. We only got a table thanks to reservation table website.
Wanted nachos. Told they were out. Service was not great and overall affected my review. Could of had a better review with a different waitress.
Rock bottom was absolutely terrible. We were a large party, 14, and they assigned a brand-new waitress to us, by herself. She tried very hard and was accommodating, but she had other tables as well.
We let them know more than once that we had a concert to get to, but it took almost 2 hours to get food. We had almost no time to eat. We asked to speak with a manager that never came. A second waitress did arrive, but she seemed to make matters worse. A tray was dropped and in the middle of trying to catch the try, a plate was thrown and hit a young child (5) in the face. A manager still never arrived.
They gave each of us a bill, though most of the group barely got their food. We had to ask more than once for them to comp our meal due to lack of food received, poor managerial staff, and actual physical pain.
The meal was comped but we will not return. I have no respect for an establishment in which a manager did not have the common decency to speak with a concerned part, especially after a child was hurt.
Food was amazing! Service was a little slow placing our order but we did receive our food quickly and it was great! Will definitely return!
We visited Rock Bottom Brewery after my daughters college graduation and had a wonderful time. We had a reservation for a group of 11 and our table was ready and waiting for us when we arrived. Our server "Melissa" was fantastic and did a wonderful job with our drinks (& refills). The food we ordered came promptly and everything tasted great. Absolutely a fun place for a party or celebration!!
ran out of silverware. service not great. side dishes came minutes after the mains.
Was disappointed with the limited beer selections. We intended to have dinner but only stayed through appetizers. Waitress acting like she didn't want to be there or simply overwhelmed with the crowd. Overall experience was below expectations.
Server was nice. Food took a long time for not being busy. It was good though. Drinks are pricey, but well made.
We love coming here when we visit Indianapolis. You cannot beat the location. They have a wide variety on their menu so when we come with a group everyone can find something they like. The have a good selection of beer and cocktails. I got their garden salad with fried chicken and the greens were really fresh.
I asked for rare. I received med well. My friend asked for med got well done
This is a very comfortable place to eat before the theater: good food, a wide variety of choices on the menu, good beer, relaxing, and affordable. We'll continue to eat here regularly, even though there are several other restaurants just as conveniently located.
For a "brewery" restaurant, it had a strangely lacking assortment of beers (plus no "category alternatives" such as hard ciders, etc). They were about 60% full at 7:30pm on a Friday night (when nearby similar restaurants like YardHouse & Granite City were on 45-60 minute waits). It still took 28 minutes for our single appetizer to come out after the order placement, and 47 minutes in total for our entrees to come out. I'm pretty patient with ticket times, but that's unacceptable. Server was fairly nice, but kind of clueless...asked for tarter sauce (for fish & chips) & she brought out remoulade...because she didn't know that they didn't carry tarter sauce. Had to remind her a couple times not to refill my kid's Sprite with water. Most of our party thought their food was decent-to-good, but pretty non-descript....nothing to recommend.
With all the choices in the area, this is a place I would not go back to. I spent 15+ years in the industry, and have a tolerance for places who try hard but fail; however, the effort clearly was not there. The operational issues this location has are too much to recommend it to anyone
It was a nice restaurant with food but the service was rather slow.
I have been to this restaurant a couple times before and I feel we may have just caught them on a bad night, all of the food that was brought to our table (save my burger) was not warm and the presentation seemed to be lacking good placement. I like this restaurant so I am giving them the benefit of the doubt but 60 dollars for mostly non warm food seems a bit much especially considering their are bigger chain restaurants who can handle these crowds and keep the food hot.
Food was good.
Service was slow
Made a reservation at 6:15. Showed up at 6 and was told that it would be ready at 6:15 and we should wait. Finally at 630, we asked about our reservation again and they admitted they forgot about us and then took to an area of empty tables that had been empty for a while. Asked multiples times for lemon for the water but despite promised never got it so we gave up. Food took a very long time. It was decent but certainly not worth the wait.
Great food, menu choices for everyone, fast lunch service, and excellent service!
We were really disappointed with Rock Bottom. Our service was terrible, our food wasn't nearly as good as it's been in the past, and even getting a drink refill was a big deal. We won't be back.
The service was awful. Took away from the food and the atmosphere because you're worried about if your waiter was ever going to come back. Will not be going back especially for a special occasion.
Had a great experience when in town this past Saturday for the state girls basketball championship. Came in with a good sized group of friends. Our server was attentive, and took great care of us. And the food was fabulous.... mostly just apps and sandwiches, but very good!
Our family has lived all over the country and dined in many regional eateries. We first learned of Rock Bottom while living in Portland, Oregon, and it was one of our favorite restaurants out that way. Upon being transferred to the Midwest we were so excited to hear that this restaurant was also in Indy. The food was excellent at this location. Their nachos are some of the best we have had in the country and I would recommend them to anyone. We have never eaten something we didn’t like at Rock Bottom - which says a lot because we are a family of 6 with many eclectic tastes. The only thing that disappointed me, and this isn’t really very fair of me to say because of course it would be being in two vastly different parts of the country - is that the vibe in the Indianapolis restaurant wasn’t what I expected. Portland’s restaurant is very rustic; exposed beams, timber logs, etc...I expected this location to be similar in ambiance, and it wasn’t. I would still definitely recommend this restaurant based on the quality of the food.
The food was very good. Preparation was on point. The beer selection was nice. Overall an above average experience. A good spot for a night out with friends.
We’ve gone here a lot over the years and after tonight’s meal we’ve decided it’s our last.
Unfortunately the place was very dirty, not swept, waitress was not friendly with my 12-year old daughter and myself. Don't mind the noise or condition of the place as much as concern for how we were treated for no apparent reason. Heard small argument between waitress and presumably another waitress on a wrong order to another table. The food was good, but the service as far as friendliness was atrocious.
Our waitress was new and she was amazing!!!! It was my daughter's sweet 16 birthday party and w had a party of 25!! We were her first big group and if she could handle 18 teenagers then she can handle any group!! We loved her! She was patient, courteous and spunky! What a great asset!!!
I apologize that's I cannot remember her name because the was so much going on but I'll never forget the was she handled our party. It was exactly what a sweet 16 should be!!
BTW, we were at the Downtown Indy location on Friday, February 15, 2019 at 8pm. I hope this helps to identify our waitress so you can give her a raise!!
