Food was great, no tipping either, included in the price. Had spicy chips, great, fried chicken was unbelievable! Chicken pot pie was huge and very tasty! We sat inside but outside was nice as well
Perfect place. Relaxed atmosphere and delicious hearty menu with artisanal smoked meats and fish. Loved the deviled eggs, kale salad, pot pie and ribs. We will return!
Great BBQ in a nice atmosphere. All the food was tasty and they don't charge corkage. No tipping either, which feels a bit foreign, but fine.
We were staying at the Wine Country Inn, so we decided to go over there for early dinner. To our wonderful surprise the service was excellent, the dinner sooo yummy and loved the place!
The staff was nice however, the service was slow. We were asked if we wanted to start with an appetizer (we ordered onion rings) at that time we also ordered our meal. I guess they thought because my husband ordered a burger that they should bring our appetizer out with our meal. 😞
Food was great, and the BBQ meats were top notch. Beautiful building and restaurant. Worth the trip. The only downside was finding the waiter to order drinks. But, overall it was great

We went to the Roadhouse with great expectations. There were three of us in our party, one had the pulled pork, and two of use shared the tri-tip and each had a salad. The pulled pork was good. The tri-tip was good but a little underdone. (Note: the menu states that the tri-tip is between 2 to 2 1/2 lbs. At $45 The difference of half a pound can be significant.) Our two salads were the Napa cabbage and sesame chicken, hold the chicken (no allowance was made on the bill for not including the chicken). We all had Arnold Palmers that were excellent. Service was good but slightly spotty owing to the fact that the servers were obviously new and starting out. For the three of us with no liquor involved the bill came to $124, a bit on the pricey side. I do like the fact that it is a no tip restaurant and I understand that this contributed to the cost. All in all it is not a place I would make the drive from Napa to try again.

We’ve visited several times and this Father’s Day we had truly poor service. After we were clearly done eating no one came to offer a dessert, boxes or our check. We tried to be patient as one of the hosts attended to another table. He brought them boxes and boxed the food for them. I thought after he was done he might notice us and offer us help. At this point we were done eating for at least 20 minutes.
We decided to get up and get our own boxes after he walked out of the dining room. As we boxed up our own food, he came back and started clearing the table of the people that just already left instead of checking on us.
When he walked out of the dining room again, my wife finally got up to find someone and ask for the check.
Basically we were completely forgotten and unattended to. We love Roadhouse 29 and drive an hour just to eat there. I don’t think it’s worth the drive for this service.

Amazing! We were a party of four and ordered the Tri-Tip. It was the perfect amount of meat for four adults. We each had a side salad to start and a few sides with dinner. It was EXCELLENT! The wait staff was really nice and very friendly and since it was Friday night, there was also a great live band performing. So great food, great ambiance, really nice wait staff...what more could you want?
We will definitely be back!!
The venue was fine. The menu contained an odd assortment of items, and the presentation lacked imagination. Not what I was expecting.
Good food overall, but some items could use improvement, especially the salads. They seem to be made a couple of days in advance.
The atmosphere is FANTASTIC! Absolutely beautiful place.
We are neighborhood people and were sorry to see the old Silverado Brewery close (I think that used to be the name), even as it seemed to be well attended. We loved the informal atmosphere then, as well as the opportunity to gather as a family to play 'Jeopardy' on certain nights. So in order to attract and increase attendance, it would be good to offer some gimmick like that, even a karaoke night, to call back all those who filled the place before.
In spite of the elegant surroundings, the place is now aiming for informality with country and pop music as well as BBQ and a Country/Western/Southern vibe.
The prices are unbeatable; No corking fee; Children under 5 eat free (great for bringing in the grandkids!); Tip is included in the total price of the food as it is done in Europe; what else would one want? This is unheard of in the entire surrounding area, even as far as Sonoma County, and the place should rightfully be hard to get into. Unfortunately, St. Helena, despite its touristy atmosphere during the day, seems to be a stodgy place that rolls up its sidewalks and go to sleep after 6 PM! But... if the Silverado Brewery used to pack-em-in before, why not Roadhouse 29, with only a few more ideas?
So, on the interest of much future fun and good eating times, we wish a happy, long, and profitable life to Roadhouse 29!

Great smoked meats served by knowledgeable and friendly staff. Top quality wine special was an added bonus. This is a wonderful addition to the upper Napa eating scene. Highly recommend.
We don’t understand why this place isn’t packed! Outstanding asparagus, brisket & coleslaw! Great staff and service. No corkage or tip!!! Plus music on Friday nights.
The food was OK but not anything special. On a Monday night it was near empty yet service was still slow, appetizer plates left uncleared and yet we were asked if he could clear our dinner plates when we were literally still chewing. We were offered dessert at the same time he brought the check?! It was like they were in a hurry to close and we were preventing that--we weren't the only table so that wasn't the problem. The owner was sitting at a table next to us with a group of what looked like corporate types. I suggest he might want to look around and see what is going on in his business--maybe stop by a table or two and see how it is going. Just a thought.
Roadhouse 29 is an excellent new addition to the Napa Valley dining scene, bringing great barbecue, great team service and reasonable pricing to St. Helena. The chopped iceberg "wedge" salad would easily feed two, the akaushi brisket plate superb (with amazing slaw, great pickles), the Monday rib-eye French dip, excellent, and don't pass up the onion rings. Even the "keuy lime pie" (more of a small pudding with crust) excelled.
Roadhouse 29 is worth the drive.

First time here and the food was really good. The service was excellent. Would highly recommend. The only thing I would suggest is bringing the food out not so quickly. (I know that sounds crazy) For example, we had ordered a cocktail and literally took one or two sips and our food was already at the table. I like to enjoy my drink before dinner and then have a glass or two of wine or champagne with dinner. We were in and out in 45 minutes. Not that we felt rushed by anyone, but maybe let the diners enjoy their drinks for a bit before lunch/dinner comes out. We're still coming back and trying the other things on the menu for sure.
We brought our mother to Roadhouse 29 for the first time. She used to come to this restaurant when it was Freemark Abbey Restaurant. She loved it!!!❤️ Great Job from some old timers!
Food is great, staff very welcoming and ambiance is casual and fun.
When I go to a bbq-I expect smoke or an aroma in the air. I guess the bbq is off sight
We have been excited about the Roadhouse, living in Calistoga and being familiar with the chef.
It is a lovely restaurant, great ambience. The menu is hearty for ribs, steaks, burgers etc- as the name implies. I found the smoke flavor a little intense on everything- but realize most love it. My main disappointment is the lack of appetizers. They have many sides- but I was hoping to get some of the chef's apps- as many times that is what i order for dinner. For me, the menu is very one note, with few exceptions.
Napa Valley’s best kept secret!!! The best coke slaw and brisket we’ve EVER had. This was our second time and we’ll go back again!
We had a fantastic dinner! Get the brisket and ribs. Service is terrific, atmosphere is fun!
Wonderful meals were had by all in our party of six! Not one complaint was heard!
Our server was on top of everything and food came out quickly & hot! The brisket was so tender you could cut it with a fork! Someone had the ribs and another the catfish, all excellent!

The service was the quickest I've ever experienced. After ordering the mains, the order arrived 5 minutes later; obviously the food is cooked hours before.
The spare ribs looked underdone, the shrimp in the shrimp tacos had an iodine taste.
The food was fair to poor and the service was way too fast. We arrived at 7 pm and were finished at 7:20, not a dining experience.
I would not recommend this restaurant.
Their Korean brined fried chicken is crispy, crunchy, moist, and well seasoned. Live music on Friday nights is a real treat.

This is exactly the restaurant that St. Helena needed and will surely be the top "locals" and "family" restaurant for some time. Great menu, food and drinks served quickly, super friendly staff, no tipping allowed, they are paying higher wages to their employees instead. Owner Nick Peyton is a legend in the Restaurant business in San Francisco and the Wine Country and we are lucky to have him here.
