Napa Valley’s best kept secret!!! The best coke slaw and brisket we’ve EVER had. This was our second time and we’ll go back again!
We had a fantastic dinner! Get the brisket and ribs. Service is terrific, atmosphere is fun!
Wonderful meals were had by all in our party of six! Not one complaint was heard!
Our server was on top of everything and food came out quickly & hot! The brisket was so tender you could cut it with a fork! Someone had the ribs and another the catfish, all excellent!
We’ll definitely do a repeat soon.
Food was ok, nothing special. Don't know if it's because of the no tipping policy but service was terrible.
Great food~ small menu~ but quickly & well prepared! Great music venue! A hidden secret!!
Good food, informal place . Server knowledgeable and attentive. The creamed corn is wonderful!
The service was the quickest I've ever experienced. After ordering the mains, the order arrived 5 minutes later; obviously the food is cooked hours before.
The spare ribs looked underdone, the shrimp in the shrimp tacos had an iodine taste.
The food was fair to poor and the service was way too fast. We arrived at 7 pm and were finished at 7:20, not a dining experience.
I would not recommend this restaurant.
Their Korean brined fried chicken is crispy, crunchy, moist, and well seasoned. Live music on Friday nights is a real treat.
Hola, la comida y el servicio fueron buenos pero es un restaurante regular, extraño Two Birds One Stone por el concepto que tenía y que la comida era fantástica!
This is exactly the restaurant that St. Helena needed and will surely be the top "locals" and "family" restaurant for some time. Great menu, food and drinks served quickly, super friendly staff, no tipping allowed, they are paying higher wages to their employees instead. Owner Nick Peyton is a legend in the Restaurant business in San Francisco and the Wine Country and we are lucky to have him here.
Nice atmosphere, good service. The food is good
Appears to be premade so not gourmet. Bit pricy for this type of restaurant.
Our waiter made several mistakes as well as the server. I ordered the ribs and they were too smoked for me. The cornbread was a surprise to say the least. For a starter it was a joke. The size of a round bar coaster and not much thicker. The “CRISPY” fries were not crispy, just regular fries. Too bad. Now to dessert...had the brownie with vanilla ice cream. The brownie was so dense you could hardly get a spoon through it. After all that and being up most of the night with indigestion myself and my party will not be returning to roadhouse 29. Would love to see Michael return with the brewery. That was good food and a great place.
We had a great experience at Roadhouse 29! It’s a casual, beautiful space; thoughtfully decorated and comfortable. The menu is great - lots of classic BBQ to choose from, most come with sides and you can add a few to round out the meal. We ordered 2 entrees and 2 sides and had more than enough for 4 people. High quality + abundance, a winning combination!
This was the second time we tried the restaurant. The first time with a local group of 7 right after opening. The service was atrocious and the food so so ( some good some not so good) 5 o f the group said never again. We decided to brave it and go for Pot Pie Thursday. We invited another local couple. We asked how was the pot pie. Response " great but we are sold out" It was 7 PM and the restaurant was empty. We asked to speak to the manager. His response " up to the chef and he cooked less" Please Get Your Act Together. As locals we want you to succeed.
Nick and Kevin have come up with another exceptional food and beverage venue. The large, expansive area allows one to hold relatively quiet conversations while enjoying the best 'perfect manhattan' in the Valley. The free corkage and no tips (novel idea) works with those who have parsimonious scruples. The fried chicken is 'killer' and the ribs a smokey second. All I miss are the korean chicken wings from before.
We had a nice evening. We came at 5:30 not to be overwhelmed with noise by people and music. But unfortunately we had to ask the service to tone down the music which was just too loud to have a decent conservation. The food and service was very good. We will be back and maybe ask for an outside table.
We were there twice during live music which was awesome. But i think too loud. I hope they tone down the decibel level for dining. But loud in the restaurant side. bar ok. Food really good. Casual but cute. Good wine list also.
What happened?! We were there with my family just in December when it was Two Birds One Stone and the food was excellent. We thought we would give it a try since it’s the same chef. It was such a let down. Everything that we ordered had to be precooked because there was no way our food could come out that fast. The steak was barely warm, the chicken was warm, not hot like if it were to just come out of the oven or fryer. The salads were mediocre, the corn bread, although it looked cute in a personal pan, was not hot and the center was barely cooked. The dishes on the table were still from the old restaurant (Japanese style earthenware) and this is supposed to be a BBQ restaurant. Very disappointed. I don’t think it will last.
Yummy! Great vibe
Some real hit and misses at this spot. Asparagus was really good. Ribs just OK and pulled pork was barely edible. I'd suggest some re-tooling to the owners. The service was very good and wine options awesome.
Three of us went here for dinner last night. We brought our own wine. The ribs were outstanding, the fried chicken was excellent, and the burger was very good. The big hit was the final bill. Because they do not charge corkage, nor do they allow tipping, the total bill was less than $25/person. That makes Roadhouse 29 a fantastic deal!
Great food at reasonable prices in beautiful setting. First class including the servers.
Good food, nice ambiance, fair prices! Love the no corkage fee!!
The food was delivered to our table within five minutes of ordering yet still managed to be cold. The ribs were almost all fat and the chicken was so sauced that my wife ate about 25%. The fries were ok so that was our dinner. Our waters were not refilled. Upon picking up our plates, the server brought our bill without offering desert. I rarely write reviews but feel a moral obligation in this case to warn others. It’s too bad, as we need more good restaurants in St. Helena with the loss of several long time excellent restaurants.
Great place to stop in for a burger at the end of the day or dine with friends. The bar is terrific and welcoming and one ned not feel uncomfortable going there alone. The food is delicious ( try the chopped but cheese salad or tri tip).
Good food but limited choices
1st visit we had excellent service
Last Friday waitress not skilled or attentive
Good prices for this area
I will recommend it to my friends, my wife was very happy with dinner, service, price. Definitely, we ll comeback.
Thanks by the way
We loved the menu and free corkage. Food was delicious. Wish there were appetizers!
We will be back
Great food, great service, super nice people!!
The food and service at Roadhouse 29 were very good. The Friday night music while fun, was very loud. Hard to hold a conversation with each other over the music.
Food was good, but we’d made plans for an evening of food and conversation with friends. Noise level was high on a Friday night, with no sound abatement in the stone and glass building. At 7 pm, an amplified rockabilly band struck up and we couldn’t even speak to the person next to us, let alone across the table. We took the rest of our fried chicken and tri tip (both excellent) in to-go boxes and fled.
Good BBQ and nice to have a kid friendly option. The fried chicken is a showstopper and the steaks are great too. The key lime pie I think would be better with crust but the soft serve is a good idea.
I would rarely say that a restaurant's prices are too low, but that may be the case here. While the menu is very limited---too limited, in fact----the prices are excellent. Especially for Napa Valley. Tips are included, as well. Side dishes of substantial portions are only 5-8 dollars and corkage is waived as well. I had a half rack of the St. Louis ribs and they were good and well prepared. I would suggest more menu choices to make the restaurant a success.
The food was actually BAD. The cauliflower inedible. The burger dry the coleslaw tasteless the pulled pork tasted lime it was in a jar sauce. Yuk. Bad service even from the owner. Hated it. Will never go back. As bad as Two Birds One Stone used to be
What a great place. The food is wonderful, the service great and the corkage free. It will be a favorite with the locals as it is also affordable and within reach to dine there frequently. Thank you to them for appealing both to the visitors and the locals and for paying their staff a living wage...all good things. Highly recommend.
We'll be back to try other menu items. House chips were delicious as was Kale salad. Catfish so-so, too much deep fried... Prefer Brussels sprouts that are served crispier.
Just not a good fit for Napa. We need another Backstreet Kitchen - not more boring brisket and barbecue. I wanted to like it - but it is too folksy and the staff are a bit uppity.
Food needs work. Cauliflower appetizer had little taste. Waste of the vegetable.
Fries were ok. Rib steak had an off taste.
Brisket had good flavir but lots of fat.
Slaw had no real flavor. Kitchen needs to pay attention. Smoke flavor does not make it barbeque.
Main chef is better than this. I will wait awhile before trying again. Will not recommend at this point to anyone.
Oh for Cyrus again.
We dined on a busy Saturday night. The staff was friendly, but inexperienced. Hopefully, this will improve in time, as they had only been open a couple of weeks. The bar was slow, but the kitchen was not. Our food came out quickly and everything was well seasoned and delicious. No need to be intimidated by the inclusion of the tip in the menu price. Four of us shared a whole tri-tip roast with sides and a round of drinks, and the bill was around $100. This is a great new spot to share a casual meal served family style.
Beautiful architecture and would go again to bar. Surprised that the restaurant serves low shelf buns and sandwich rolls instead of artisan products. Service was very poor.
