   Twice we have booked online rather than telephoned direct as we usually do. On both occasions the restaurant denied all knowledge of the bookings. Fortunately they weren't full and we got served. We will telephone direct in future.

   We booked a table for 4 people 24 hours before but on arrival got 'told off' for booking late, not a good start, the resturant was half full! Vegetarian choice was poor and no pudding that was gluten free. Main courses were tasty but over priced. Waiting service was good and had plenty of time before the theatre started.

   The food was beautifully cooked and presented in a calm, attractive atmosphere. The service was good although the non-discretionary service charge was a little high for the amount of service received.

   Great place to meet before going to the Theatre. You need to be there no later than 6:15 for a7:30 performance. It can be a little noisy as the ceiling holds the sound in.

   Food very mediocre - with such a lovely setting - what a waste of a space. Service was good, but due to lack of staff, they were turning customers away - only third full. Surely not good for Profits. It could be brilliant, but not at the moment. Do not like the 12.12per cent automatically added on Bill as it can be missed. Really not good value.

   Service and staff excellent and location useful, but little else to recommend this restaurant: starter soup was small volume, barely warm (due to design of bowl I suspect), lacked seasoning and was too thick, other starter of scallops was tasty; main of twice baked cheese souffle was delicious but tiny - starter sized! and came with tomato sauce that had no seasoning - as if they just poured out a jar of passata; fish main very tasty but with a salad that had tinned mandarins and little flavour; dessert cheese nice but supposed to come with walnuts and didn't, honey and orange dessert turned out to be dense sponge cake with tinned mandarins. Next time we go to the theatre we'll try the bar food area next to the restaurant where the food looked better and cheaper.

   The food and service are very good. However, as we visit the theatre at least 15 times a year and my wife is a coeliac we feel that the menu is not changed frequently enough.

   The service was good; the starters and the mains. The haunch of venison was very generous and beautifully tender.

   We found the restaurant pretentious with prices well above the quality of the food. We both had monk fish which was bland served with pureed something that was tasteless. The diced potatoes were squishy. The servings left us needing the desserts and we thought we could hardly go wrong with cheese and biscuits: we were wrong. Cheese served right out of the fridge is hard and tasteless. Fortunately the show cheered us up.

    In an ideal situation for attending a show at the theatre this restaurant has a captive audience and the main reason we went there was it's location. Parking only once in Guildford with little walking is a great bonus, especially when bringing friends with mobility challenges. I booked on line and got an email confirmation at 00.03 on New Year's day! In spite of that the restaurant had no record of our booking but hurriedly laid a table and managed to serve us. The food was good, interesting and well cooked. The waiter and waitress were attentive and helpful, but there should have been three of them. The service was slow as the kitchen seemed to be serving the cafe as well and many meals went out of the restaurant. My granddaughter ate in the cafe and was served a jacket potato that was not fully cooked. She didn't complain at the time, neither did she eat it. An expensive plate of baked beans! I would not choose this restaurant if there was an alternative nearby.
