   The River Pavilion is a stunning spot to take in the Hudson Valley. The design and ambiance make it worth a visit. We stopped in for Mother's Day lunch and found the food to be hit or miss. The hamburger and fish tacos were both solid, but the chickpea spread with market vegetables was underwhelming. The hummus was bland and the vegetables tasted like something you'd find pre-packaged at a grocery store. Unfortunately, service was where things really fell apart. Our appetizers (just the chickpea spread and a salad) took over an hour to arrive. A glass of rosé we ordered had to be sent back because. of a bug in the glass. It took another 30 minutes to receive a replacement, which ended up being a sauvignon blanc instead. Our waiter seemed genuinely confused and apologetic, but it was clear the staff was inexperienced and lacked proper training. I'd come back for the vibes and a drink at the bar, but I’d skip the full sit-down meal unless service improves.

   Lovely atmosphere and views, and food was OK but the service was very disorganized (we were seated for nearly 2 hrs before the main courses arrived). The facts that the food was delayed, served cold, and portions small felt incompatible with the high prices they charge. A decent place to go for an outdoor drink, but nothing more. Cannot recommend a meal here.

   The view is outstanding and the best of the Hudson Valley. Enjoy the river and wide open space under the shelter with heaters and fireplaces to keep it cozy. The Shakshuka eggs were over cooked but the tomato sauce was tasty and on point. Eggs Benedict was the winner at our table with the wood fired pizza coming in second place.

   Unfortunately the night that we chose to dine at The River Pavilion the menu was changing the next day and they were out of more than half of their offerings. The selections were dismal and the food was not great. I'm shocked that during a conversation with the hostess during the day she did not give me this info or the option of canceling??? I would have met our friends at one of the many other fine restaurants in the area. The restaurant is a lovely open air concept on the river with beams above. The pigeons nesting up their pooped on my husbands head. We will not be dining there again.

   This was a disappointing meal in a beautiful setting. Feel like this place has gone downhill since it opened, or maybe I am misremembering my first experience.

   They need to improve the bar service. Our party of three order one mixed drink, a glass of wine and a liter of beer. The mixed drink came out first and after 15 minutes or more and two visits, one from the hostess and the other from the waitress the wine and beer finally came out. The beer order was wrong when it came, but the waitress fixed it at no charge. We really like this place, the staff is very nice, the food is delicious and the atmosphere is great. They just need to get a bartender who gives a crap about doing their job correctly.
