Great ambiance. The appetizers were good. The food, could’ve used some seasoning. The service however was great. We’d come back and try one thing else. Drinks were on point!
Delicious brunch choices. Beautiful view.
Very little follow-up from wait staff once the meal arrived. Not a single offer of water refills, or drink refills. Friendly but passive service overall.
Loved it and will be back. Better signage for entering would be helpful.
Beautiful view of the river for my brunch with friends. It was a chilly morning, so I was impressed that we could sit outside on the deck with their industrial overhead heaters. We were sat immediately. The menu is small, but it covers all the favorites for brunch. Service was great. My only complaint is that the cappuccino machine wasn’t working so we had to get our fancy coffee drinks elsewhere, but no problem really.
It was a great Brunch. Fantastic service, view and ambiance. Food is top notch
Great service , table was too small for four people. Little to hot in the corner with heat. Will go again -
This visit cemented River as our favorite local outside/waterfront restaurant.
The evening was chilly, but the heaters kept us comfortable in shirtsleeves. Our server (Sarah) gave us prompt, cheery attention.
And the food! I ordered asiago salmon for the second time in a row, and it was once again perfectly prepared, with a crunchy topping and moist, pink center. The accompanying fall veggies held their crunch through a delicate saute, and the pesto risotto defied description. My wife's rigatoni bolognese arrived hot and delicious--and the portion serves as a second dinner, much to her delight.
Since River's plan is to keep the heaters working all winter, we're looking forward to returning over and over to enjoy snowy river views and exquisite meals.
Sat outside on a cool night. The heaters made the whole evening very enjoyable. The setting is fantastic next to the river. It’s unusual to find such a great spot at the back of a commercial building. Well worth going.
We had an excellent dinner, outside on the deck with heaters going. It was very comfortable and the music coming from a trio downstairs really put it over the top. Our service person was friendly, helpful, and attentive. Our only complaint is that the martinis were the smallest ones we have ever been served. Glass only half full! We thought there might have been a mistake...but apparently not! In my opinion, a restaurant would have a loyal following if only they gave a decent pour.
Ambiance, and service were excellent. Clam chowder was delicious and nice and hot. Fig flatbread with arugula and gorgonzola was not great. Cheese crumbles from a bag?
Fig jam very skimpy.
Expected real melted cheese and lots of fig jam.
Excellent food and service. The menu has a nice variety of dishes including seafood, steak, chicken, pasta and salads. Very nice wine list, too. The overhead heaters kept us toasty while dining outside by the Connecticut River. Spotlights lit the trees along the river's bank and the full moon joined us to enhance the ambiance.
The waiter was terrible. You could tell she was just hired. I ordered fra diavalo red sauce seafood pasta dish. They took one hour to bring it to table. The manager came over to check on the heating outside and we mentioned the long wait and she apologized and said the chef messed up the order and was playing it now. She blamed the chef which I thought was rude. Also, they didn’t offer anything to remedy it. A complimentary beverage or a dessert. Nothing. We were celebrating a special occasion. Also, the appetizer of beef was gross. It didn’t taste like beef. We won’t come back. You would think that with the restaurant business failing that they would try to keep each and every customer but this was not the case. I’ve been here before and met one of the owners. I think if they didn’t have the waterfront view they would have closed down years ago.
Sea food thumbs up. Coffee excellent . Service top notch
Always a pleasure dining at River. Great atmosphere and environment for brunch
Slow service, empty restaurant and they were turning people away! We dined with a party of 5 , all of us received our food except 1 person and he waited Ann additional 20 minutes after we were served to finally get his entree, which was only an egg skillet, nothing fancy. The burger was very good!
Need a little better greeting experience ! Lots of confusion , masks we not worn correctly by staff so don’t wear them. Over all good experience. & will go back . Nice touch with owner stopping by the table to check on us.
Incredible view of the Connecticut River, so make sure to get there before sunset.
Fun place to eat especially outside on a nice day
Great view, good service, but a wait of 30 minutes when a burger ordered medium was received extremely rare and had to be sent back. Maybe kitchen feeling the staffing pinch, but 30 minutes for a burger that then was remade and delivered very well done, seems a bit much. Other food ordered was very good.
Beautiful weather, scenery, company, and food. Our server was very friendly and attentive
Great view of river w tasty sandwiches
The outdoor dining area was great. Low noise level and nice view of the river. The staff was pleasant and attentive.
Excellent food, good service, great ambiance and location
The service was slow, and the food could have been warmer.
The cocktail Sex on the River was delicious.
Wonderful! Love the outdoor seating!
Dinner night out to celebrate family member’s birthday. Great location with awesome Customer service. Would definitely recommend it.
Beautiful setting in a big office building at the edge of the Connecticut River, easy access from I-91 and Route 3. Well-arranged outdoor (and indoor) tables with views. Pleasant and competent hostesses and wait-staff. Food was good. Definitely worth returning. Good venue for meetings and celebrations
Great location, the ambiance inside and out. The terrace overlooks the river, overhead heaters. Electic crowd. Grapefruit Rosemary Mimosa - yum and lobster eggs benedict delish, (hollandaise needs a tweak but very good - can be better)
The food was terrific, and the views of the river added to the ambiance of the place.
This was our first visit and we will be back! Our server Elizabeth H was very personable and seemed to enjoy herself. The rest of the staff was great also as they use a team approach to the service. Now onto the food- the half chicken was impossibly juicy and full of flavor, the steak tips and pasta was delicious and the special of the evening, a pork shank was tender along with great roasted veggies.
The total bill came to $120 including the meals and 4 adult beverages. Anyone looking for a nice night out, this is the place to go.
While our food tasted good, our experience was disappointing. Despite the restaurant being relatively quiet at 5 pm for our reservation, it was 45 minutes before the server took our order. Our meals were not delivered at the same time; mine was the last of 4 to be set on the table, and it was lukewarm. The server did not check back with us until after we had completed our meal, then left the empty plates on the table for another 15 minutes before bringing us the check. Fortunately, we were just so happy to be seeing each other after 18 months of COVID separation that we had plenty to talk about. However, I have no urgent need to return, even for the wonderful view of the river.
It truly is a hidden gem. When you pull into the parking lot you will question if you are in the right place. We had a drink at their sister restaurant down below and it was fantastic. Highly recommend
The outdoor view is nice and so was the food. Nothing was amazing but would not hesitate to go back
Setting and service was great. Most of the food very good. Calamari was more peppers than calamari. Fish and chips were delicious, as was the seafood linguini dish. Short Ribs were a little salty with just ok gravy. Overall was very good with a beautiful setting.
The food and drinks were great. It takes a long time to get a waiter/get your food/check. But nice otherwise
Service and the food excellent. Nice night, sat outside would definitely go back
We went because the restaurant was described by Google as "romantic." Maybe if it had been daytime. The outdoor furnishings are functional and comfortable, but not especially romantic. The wine list was a disappointment, we were served flat prosecco in the wrong shape glass, and even the replacement prosecco left much to be desired. Some of the food was excellent, presentation was spotty, and our appetizers came after our entrees. We won't be going back.
Very nice looking restaurant. A great restaurant must have more however. We were seated quickly and efficiently, but service was downhill from there. Perhaps the staff of 3 hostesses, 1 manager, 1 bartender at an empty bar, and only 3 waiters was a bit too unbalanced to provide the level of service required for the number of customers. When one of the entrees at our table neglected to appear when the others were served we were told it would be right out. Once it was discovered that the order was not placed correctly we were assured the manager would be out to apologize and we would not be charged. I guess the manager was the one who appeared after the rest of us were done eating and dropped the plate of partially cooked food on the table without explanation. Maybe she had to get back and be sure our bill reflected the full price for it, as it certainly did. The restaurant did attempt to comply with Covid precautions, but 1/2 of the staff need to be retrained on the proper wearing of a mask. "Chin masks" just won't work and constant touching of the mask followed by handling of the food won't either. All in all felt very uncomfortable at this restaurant with a lovely view.
Overall a very wonderful experience. I wish the waitress was more attentive
