Great food. Exceptional service....Tim was great!!
Fantastic from start to finish. Our server, Michelle, was wonderful!
The service was awful. They were super unfriendly from the hostess to some of the wait staff. If you don't look the type, they weren't interested in providing good service.
Our favorite place in Chicago. Great service (thanks Michelle & Abel!), excellent food prepared perfectly & the view of our city is always amazing!
My only complaint was the music that was playing. It was contemporary pop which didn’t fit the rest of the atmosphere. Jazz or something softer would have been more fitting.
Convenient location for Chicago Shakespeare Theatre. Even with the theater discount, the food is mediocre and overpriced. The service is attentive and the views of the Chicago skyline are lovely, even in winter.
Will come back
My girlfriend and I had a fight and I never got to see the restaurant, she went with someone else. So I will make reservations again and enjoy
Began oysters recommended by our waiter were best I ever had. First time having that variety. All wines are overpriced but adequate not great. Halibut was superb. Flaky and tasty. Asparagus parmisiano was over grilled with scant Parmesan. Frozen peach sorbet a real treat. Tiramisu so so irineo our waiter was great at recommendations. Been here before. Will be back again. Our table location and view were the best
Food was awesome, had the Lobster, King Crab, and Filet combo for two, portions were fantastic.
Outstanding Service and great food. A lovely way to spend our Valentine's Day Celenration!
Great service and the view was breathtaking
We were late for our reservation (Friday night traffic!!) and had to make the show at Shakespeare rep. Everything was handled with perfect precision, they accommodated our lateness and the rush, our server was terrific, keeping an eye on it all. And despite all the curveballs, it was delish as always. Thank you!
Great food, awesome atmosphere!
Our server Luis was remarkable!!!
Short staff, I guess. Service was very slow perhaps because it was a Sunday evening. Usually, service is much better.
Blackened sea bass and spaghetti with seafood were excellent choices on the Restaurant Week three-course menu. And their crème brûlée never disappoints. Malbecs listed on the by-the-glass menu were not available; we hope that they will be brought back.
King crab legs were great. Waitress showed us how to use red cracking tool. From NoVA and haven't seen this one before. Filet cooked well. Only complaint was rock hard butter and bread wasn't great. Brussels were good too. Loved the lemon sorbet. And gave us 20% off our bill for going next door to Shakespeare show, so saved us $42.
Great views, good food, friendly service but mostly for tourists. Location is a big drawback unless you are going to Chicago Shakespeare or Navy Pier for entertainment purposes.
I ordered the pork chop which was not tasty at all. Mash potatoes were bland Brussels were just ok. Girlfriends alaskain fish and Rice was wonderful. Special occasion meal and a little disappointed with one of the dishes. Wine bread was great. View excellent. Pork chop not good should take off menu or have it breaded or baked with a tastier sauce.
We had excellent service at Riva. The waitress was extremely attentive, the server, who provided water to the table, was consistently filling our water glasses, and at the end of dinner, the table was cleared efficiently and the white table cloth was wiped clear of any crumbs. Pristine service. We even mentioned this to the concierge as we were leaving and she said she would be sure to pass it along to the GM.
We had a wonderful time! Staff was very nice and the food was fantastic.
We went to Riva for a pre theater dinner and as always the food was very good the service was excellent and we were right on time for the show.
Great place for dinner/drinks after the theater at the Shakespeare. View of the city and service were exceptional. My Cosmo, though costly at $15, was quite good. The clam chowder, while recommended online by other customers, was mediocre at best - lumps of thickener (flour?) throughout and few clams. My crab cake was pretty good, not super.
Excellent food. Great service.
Had a good dinner before the Dead Mau5 show. Server made good suggestions to dietary restrictions.
I expected this to be a really nice classy restaurant according to the menu I looked at before going but it reminded me on a pizza place with ugly wooden chairs and tacky tablecloths. Really, nothing special. I didn't think the food was that good either, especially for the price. Nope, this place is less than average.
It was a wonderful experience. The food was delicious and the view amazing. The staff was very pleasant and professional.
As always, our favorite restaurant in town. Thank you for being there for us!!
Great Food, Great service, and Great View. I can’t wait to come back!
Beautiful place and view. Food was wonderful! King Crab, filet, gelato w/ 4 flavors.
Good is quite pricy!! Filet and Lobster Tail $64?? Filet was less than 8oz and lobster tail was standard size. Same mela at Bubba Gump’s would have been half that and free sides. Side dishes are extra?? Everything ala carte?? $12 for Brussel Sprouts or Asparagus. Side Salad $12? Had I known everything was ala carte I would have made reservations at another crab house. Waitress was stoic and I felt like our group of three was a burden or better yet “didn’t belong”. I’ve worked for Hilton for 31 years and personality adds to the ambiance. Engaging customer service with a smile would have made it a little better. There was no ambiance at Riva’s last night. None. It definitely was not worth the $300 spent for 3 people. Won’t be back.....the atmosphere and customer service should be what impresses not the sticker shock. The good note was the food was good (again not $300 good).
Un réveillon de la saint Sylvestre mémorable
Serveur au top!
We were here for New Years Eve... great! The staff gave us party favors and champagne right before midnight. We could see the Navy Pier fireworks from the big windows.
We had a great time with great food. The food is a bit pricey but the taste of the food was more than average. The waiter and waitress were very good.
I hope to go here again!
New year eve dinner great food
Great food and service. The restaurant is clean and the people all had smiles
Excellent food in a beautiful setting, overlooking the lake and pier.
Great seafood and pork chops, fast service, beautiful scenery
Always love dining at Riva especially during the Holiday season when we make our annual trip with the family into Chicago! The best view looking back toward the city!
This is a great destination restaurant to get a waterfront experience in the windy city! Try to get a table near the window. The food is very tasty - try the seafood pot for mussels, shrimp, and blue crab; it comes with lots of bread to soak up the awesome sauce. Right on the pier for easy access after your meal to all the pier has to offer, whether outside or inside.
