The mussels were delicious. Our service was excellent. I go to Riva before going to the Shakespeare Theatre. Each time I enjoy excellent food and service
This was our first time at Riva. We went to Riva before a 1 pm matinee at the Shakespeare Theater and we thoroughly enjoyed both the meal and the performance. My wife had some gluten-free options and I had the Haddock and Chips. We were both very satisfied. Our server was very help in steering us to good food choices. When I asked about the Shrimp and Chips vs. the Haddock and Chips, he heartily recommended the Haddock . . . and he was not wrong. I wish my wife would have had a gluten-free soup choice. Hopefully, Riva will next time we go because there definitely will be a next time.
Superb seafood. Our server was outstanding and attentive. We love Riva prior to Shakespeare
Service excellent, food was well made and delicious.
Great view is all I can say about this
We dine at Riva when we go to Shakespeare theatre. The seafood prices are too high for the serving size. View spectacular, service excellent.
Great lunch location prior to Shakespeare Theatre matinee.
Managers Gina and Geno plus wait staff Blanca
Make the meal and atmosphere always pleasureable
Great Surf and Turf, drinks are fabulous the service is great. Window seating is the best, been to Rivas many times and always had a wonderful experience.
We set out reservation for 6 with a Shakespeare production at 8. Glad we got there a little early. The place had a small group when we arrived and was brimming when we left. Food was very good. Lobster tail a little overcooked, huge baked potato, excellent asparagus, chowder and dessert. Waiter had an excellent sense of humor and we received great service. I'd recommend. Pricey but appropriate for the venue and quality.
Riva Crabhouse at Navy Pier provides a great view of Chicago's skyline and waterfront while serving a wide-range of delicious menu options. The restaurant was fresh looking and service top-notch following a busy holiday season. Delicious food served by a cordial and attentive waitstaff.
Service was excellent. The food fell short. The sashimi appetizer (tuna) was not fresh and tasted off. We have sashimi fairly regularly and this was bad. The steaks were good but the grilled halibut was off. For fresh fish, it was very gummy and fish tasting. The cocktails (Old Fashioned and Martini) were very good and well-executed.
Great grilled fish dinner. Excellent service. Enjoyable environment. Well located for Chgo Shakespeare Theater performances.
We have eaten here many times. The food is always delicious and the service is wonderful. We always eat fairly early so the noise is very low. But by the time we leave it is usually crowded and it is not noisy.
We love this place.
Amazing food and service! The waiter, Tim, was extremely friendly and informative about the menu. I live in Alaska and the Alaskan King Crab kegs were just as delicious if not better then the crab legs I have had up north. The waiter cracked the legs for me and the experience was overall great. We go here for every special occasion. THE CRAB GUMBO IS AMAZING!
The food was as usual very good. The service was cordial and efficient. And the view if the lake and the city was magnificent.
We don't get here often, given the hassle of getting there from the northern suburbs, but when we manage to make the trip, we always come away from Riva's delighted with the view, the service and the food.
The only complaint we have is that the restrooms have attendents. For me this is off-putting, but perhaps there's value in having someone on premisis to keep the space clean and tidy. Take a couple of dollars into the restroom with you with which to tip the attendent.
Excelente lugar para recibir el año nuevo con vista a los fireworks. Mejor servicio imposible. Gran ambiente. Nuestra cena estuvo deliciosa.
We made the reservation at 9:00pm for the new year with my 86 years old mother so we can enjoy the mid night at Riva. Middle of our night we were told the table is only for 2 hrs which is not mentioned in our reservation e-mail and we need to leave before the midnight. The rest of the night wasn't fun for us.
At the end of the day they let us stay but we lost the spirit of the night.
The Dover Sole was fantastic! It was filleted, tableside, perfectly. The calamari was outstanding, as usual.
Food and service was great. We were able to get a table by the window and the view was amazing.
Kid past was a bit spicy then kids could not eat. Except this, food, service and atmosphere were good.
Amazing king crab legs! Went for NYE. Pricy specials but worth every penny.
We took our three granddaughters there after a matinee at Chicago Shakes. The food was very good, the atmosphere lively and the service exceptional.
We like Riva and have eaten there several times. We love their menu and food quality. Views, of course, are wonderful. Service varies from excellent to out of touch, but is mostly acceptable.
All in all, it is a high quality restaurant that stands out in the Navy Pier area.
We have been to Riva's many times and it always delivers! The scenery of Lake Michigan and the lakefront city views are absolutely beautiful. The seafood is great and the Key Lime Pie is the best I have had.
You won't be disappointed with a meal at Riva's Crabhouse.
The food and the service were excellent from the soup to dessert. Very enjoyable dining experience.
Had to cut the Halibut with a knife; it was that dry. Service very rushed, they were clearing off the table, including the bread while two in our party were still eating. And then waitress completely disappeared and we had to wait for the check.
It's a fish place, they do fish well, and the view is great. We go when we go to Shakespeare.
Wonderful food, though a bit on the pricey side. Fortunately, we had tickets for the Shakespeare Theatre, so Riva provides a 20% discount, bringing the average price of each of the four of us to under $100. This would not be too bad, but only two of us had drinks, and that was a single glass of house wine.
Very enjoyable. Great food.
The food was outstanding
We enjoyed Shakespeare Theater and then had dinner with very good friends. Views from Riva are great and seafood is certainly above average. The clam chowder is delicious, crab cakes full of nice chunks of crab. The fettuccine with scollops was also delicious. The could be a bit more creative with desserts especially at Christmas time. Overall, enjoyable dinner with friends.
Lovely ambiance. Great service. Food is presented beautifully. Besides all that there is a lovely water view. Great for pretheater or any special occasion.
Good seafood. Fast and attentive service. Somewhat expensive for the experience
Food and service very good, after a show a good place to meet with friends. Need to update the seating, ambiance doesn’t match the food or service.
Never disappoints. Shortened lunch menu covers all the bases. Fettuccine with scallops, spinach and wild mushrooms was excellent.
Lovely evening at Riva. Service was 5 star. The food was up to par! Scenery was romantic on the waterfront and downtown in the background. The only thing that threw was the menu combo doesn’t include sides you have to purchase them extra at $8 for a baked potato. I had a lobster tail ( medium) and king crab legs (2) at $65 and it didn’t include a side or any soup/salads.
Long time customer. Always excited to dine at Riva, was a bit disappointed with steak & Chop selection. Also a bit disappointed with portions, love the crab cakes but thought they were REALLY SMALL for almost $20. I was most disappointed with the Tiramisu.... LOOOOOVE IT FROM RIVA, but the two pieces we had were really DRY. I felt like Riva lost a small step. Overall GOOD dinner. SERVICE WAS EXCELLENT, TOP NOTCH!
No vegetarian option with any protein. I find it surprising that a restaurant that is otherwise quite good and conveniently located on Navy Pier, they do not have a single vegetarian option with any protein—only pure carbs or a medley of vegetable side dishes. I have raised this repeatedly since we are often at the pier for events, but there is still not a decent meal to be had if you are vegetarian. Sadly, we will have to find other dining options.
