First time experience and we will definitely be back again. Food cooked to perfection and we were even fortunate enough to have a brief but meaningful conversation with the owner.

I met a friend for dinner and tried the Rittenhouse Grill for the first time. There was a problem with my friend’s cocktail but they quickly remade it for him. The wine list was a bit lacking for me given that steaks are a key element of the menu. He had the prime rib, I had the ribeye. Both were good, but not amazing. The ambience was very nice. The service was just okay. A solid option but not a special occasion place imho.

We heard a promo on KYW radio and decided to check out Rittenhouse Grill. The website was appealing - especially the"Specials" section, which included a "Sunday Night Lite” special - three-course prix fixe for $65 that lets you BYOB with no corkage fees. We made an Open Table reservation, arrived, and were greeted warmly. We loved the restaurant’s décor - dark and leopard-themed but tasteful, and very romantic, with a pianist softly playing standards on a beautiful baby grand piano right in the middle of the restaurant. We enjoyed the cocktails we ordered when we sat down, but things went downhill from there. When we were handed the menu, there was no prix fixe visible anywhere – not printed on the menu and not attached as the evening’s special, as we often see in other restaurants. We had to ask the waiter for the Sunday special menu, and the moment we did so, you could feel the temperature drop and see the waiter’s attitude shift. The look he gave us when we asked about the special was not welcoming, but he did find a single card with the details for us to share. The shift in the waiter’s demeanor made us feel like second-class citizens. The food was delicious, and there was nothing overtly bad about the service. It was subtle, small things - like the way he responded when we placed our bottle of cabernet on the table: “Do you want wine glasses for that?” Honestly, what kind of question is that? The bill came to $200+ and, with better service, this would have been the first of many visits.

No Michelin star, not even a cedilla, but the perfect place for a great steak meal, and, as far as I'm concerned, the perfect place. I haven't had a better steak, and the lump crabmeat cocktail was outstanding - I've only had such good crabmeat once before. Good wine-by-the-glass and excellent service.
