   This was our second time at this restaurant. Food was excellent and our server, Daniel, was top-notch! We were a little disappointed that one of the menu items we wanted to order would not be available for 45 minutes, but we found something else that was also delicious! We’ll be back!

   Food is incredibly good. Price is very competitive . Service great, but I've gotten to know the waiter which probably helps.

   One Star — Would Give Less If I Could ⭐☆☆☆☆ I really wanted to love Rise Woodfire in Santa Clara (visited on 4/16/25), but the experience was a total letdown from beginning to end. This was supposed to be a fun afternoon date with my wife after errands, and I was excited to bring her here based on a great past visit to your San Mateo location. Unfortunately, Santa Clara didn’t even come close. Let’s start with the good: The Pesto Lemon Shrimp Pizza was flavorful, the Jalapeño Cheddar Cornbread had a great kick, and the Henhouse IPA was on point. My wife enjoyed her Housemade Lemonade. The kitchen knows what it’s doing—the food was the only highlight. But everything else? Not even close. •It took over 10 minutes just to place our order ⏱️ •No one came back to check on us •We had to ask for basic things like napkins and straws •The check took forever to arrive •No one asked if we wanted dessert or anything else 🍰 •They didn’t even check me in on OpenTable 📅 •When I asked for a manager? I was told no one was available—not even on shift Not being offered dessert or a second drink, or even just asked how our meal was—those are the basics. It’s disappointing to feel like we were just a table to get through, not guests to take care of. The whole experience felt flat, like no one was trying. No energy, no hospitality, and no reason to come back. Honestly, one star is being generous—and only because the food was good. Everything else failed to deliver. 😞

   This is our second time to Rise. We ordered a pizza and a prime rib dinner. Was disappointed that the mashed potatoes were not ready as it was a little after 5:00. It's dinner time! Had to settle on the sweet potatoes for one of my sides. They were a little dry especially the red sweet potatoes. Needs a little butter or olive oil to moisten vegetable. Brought home two desserts: Cookie with brownie and a slice of apple pie. Very disappointed in both. Cookie with brownie nothing to brag about. Apple pie was the worst I've had in a long time. The crust was like leather! Couldn't cut a bite without struggling with a fork. Needed a knife! Our first time here was on Valentine's Day and were impressed with everything. Today not so much. Need to be careful what time you come to make sure everything is ready. Be selected about their desserts. Hopefully next time goes better.

   Excellent lunch today. Food was delicious! And arrived quickly from the beautiful, open display kitchen. My wife shared with her mother the roasted half chicken with a spicy Thai sauce and two sides, one of broccolini and the other the scrumptious mashed potatoes. They devoured it! I had the double pepperoni pizza with added bacon. Delicious! Excellent crispy and tasty crust. We finished with the chocolate celebration cake, which was served with vanilla ice cream. Very good! Fair selection of wines by the glass. Service was attentive and competent. Ambiance was pleasant. They have designed a beautiful layout with a spacious dining room mixed with booths and table seating, a good looking bar and bar area, and outside seating looks to be gearing up for warmer weather in Spring. They made a very good first impression with us and we will return. A good find for us to incorporate into our dining out.

   Bartender Daniel was excellent! We opted to stay at the bar for dinner than to move to our table. Food was excellent with generous portions. We'll be back!

    I hope this place lasts! Definitely not worth spending $70! Pizza was mushy tomato sauce tasted like it was out of a can. Ugh!
