About this restaurant

Run by Chef Enrique Cortez, the Riques Cocina Mexicana officially closed its doors in July 2016, despite being considered a Ôhidden gemÕ by fans. Launched in 2002, as the Riques Regional Mexican Food, the restaurant focused on providing authentic, Mexican cuisine that allowed Chef Cortez to share the taste of his culture with the world. The food and service earned the attention of many, with GQ magazine stating that Riques Cocina Mexicana was among the few Mexican restaurants that accepted Mexican pesos as well. In 2008, Chef Cortez journeyed to Sonora, Northern Mexico, to re-discover the authentic, Mexican flavors that colored his childhood. In 2015, Chef Cortez re-opened the Riques Regional Mexican Food as the Riques Cocina Mexicana that paired the Mexican menu with an amazing atmosphere. Opting to pursue a career as a teacher of the culinary arts, Chef Cortez closed the restaurant to focus on his goal.
