Rio Grande Grill & Tap Room
Great experience loved the food and the service was excellent.
Food and service was great. Ruidoso seemed to be really loud every restaurant we ate at this time
Great food great service! Try the mussels!! They are amazing!
First time eating here, and I would highly recommend it. Will definitely go back next time I am in town. Not a real big Craft beer fan, but their Rodeo Cold was delicious
We were really excited to take our friends from Texas there for a nice evening of good food and beer out on the patio. The table was ready when we arrived so there was no wait which was nice. But the service was slow and she paid little attention to us. We would have to flag her down and she was always rushed. I ordered the trout. It was over cooked and didn’t taste fresh. I took two bites and quit. Our friend ordered the chicken fried steak and the gravy on top was old and greasy. Our waitress was so inattentive that she didn’t even notice we didn’t eat it or ask if the food was ok. Ww were embarrassed! I know Labor Day weekend is hard but better planning needs to take place so that you are ready for the big tourist weekend.
The experience was out of this world. Pecan Amber brew was the best beer I’ve ever sipped. Outstanding flavor. Thanks Rio Grande!
Made reservation with Open Table and got the confirmation email. Got to the restaurant and they said oh we don’t use that anymore we do not have your reservation.
I will never go to this restaurant again. We had friends in town and booked our reservation four days in advance. It was a busy evening in town and when we got to the restaurant it was packed. They would not honor our reservation and told us it would be an hour wait. We had tickets to a concert and could not wait. Also, every restaurant in town was packed so we had to skip dinner. Very embarrassing in front of our guests and frustrating as well.
We arrived and there was a note on the door that they were closed due to family emergency. We did not get any advance notice and there were 7 of us. We went next door and ate (30 min wait time) and later found out that the kitchen just walked out of the Rio Grande Grill & Tap due to management issues. Don't know if that is the "family emergency" but seems like they could have let us know they had issues.
Great food and great service! Will make sure and eat here when we come to Ruidoso!
weird atmosphere, very weird vibe. felt pretentious. we had a nice server though, and the steak was good.
Always good food, just slow at times
We were very disappointed. The restaurant was recommended by someone at our hotel. It was extremely noisy and the service was the poorest I’ve ever had.
We were totally surprised by the excellence we experienced at Rio Grande! It was great!
We visited Ruidoso June 1st. It took us a long time to decide on a restaurant for dinner but finally decided on this one. Our server (a tall male blond server who did not give us his name) seemed very uninterested in helping us. Everything else was perfect. The service made us feel so unwelcome.
Not prepared for individual with handicap — most setting upstairs
Every time we visit Ruidoso we eat at Rio Grande at least twice. Food is delicious, and they have a great assortment of beers. Staff is accommodating and prompt, and we love that it is kid-friendly. We always leave The Rio Grande Grill happy and satisfied.
The food was excellent. Service was adequate but not exceptional. We will go again. Parking is hard.
My second time eating here. The staff was very accommodating, I am plant based vegan and gluten-free. I had the berry salad it was huge and very tasty. My husband really enjoyed the cedar plank salmon. It was a bustling Saturday night and had a warm welcoming atmosphere. We had reservations and requested upstairs away from the bar atmosphere downstairs. We will definitely eat there again.
The Valentines Menu was good, our table favorite was the wreck fish. The buffalo steak was very tough but had good flavor. Dinner was great overall!
We went to Rio Grande Grill for our wedding anniversary. We eat here every time we are in Ruidoso and it was fantastic once again. Food was excellent and the staff were amazing. If you don't eat here you are really missing out.
Food was excellent, it was just really busy so it was quite loud and the wait was little long. Overall, happy with the place.
The food was fabulous and the server was very good.
Second time eating here and I was not disappointed. Beer sampler is amazing and the Green Chili Chicken Ravioli was unbelievable.
The trout dish was swimming in grease, including the vegetables. The hamburger was well prepared, as were the accompanying steak fries. The side dish of macaroni and cheese was extremely watery and runny. The beer sampler was excellent.
This place had a lot of good reviews, but we found the food not very good. The service was good. We were sitting outside on a deck and people would leave the bar to smoke and it would come up through the deck - yuck. I had the Angels in Paradise - the crab meat was over powered by breadcrumbs, it was way too bready which killed all the other flavors. My parents had the French onion soup and they both commented that it should have been called Thyme soup. My husband had the chicken fried steak and it was all breading. Didn't stay for dessert.
Very good food in a local bar type of place. Great beer selection. Good service
Our waiter was a real jerk but the food was phenomenal
We had to wait 20 minutes for a table to be cleared past our reserved time. The restaurant needs updating and certainly was not very clean. Nice menu and reasonable prices but the entrees were disappointing. All the sides were quite good though. Overall, did not meet our expectations based upon the reviews.
Hey Open Table, we made a reservation and the restaurant was CLOSED! Never had this happen before. Please have them update their hours. Very disconcerting.
Friday night is not the night to eat at this place. Luckily we had reservations. While our order was taken in a timely fashion there was no follow up at all. We finally had to go ask the waiter for our checks. Only then did he remember we were cebrating a birthday and offer free desert. He was not attentive at all but then the place was mobbed.
The Prime Ribs were chewy and not very tasty and the Elk burger was cooked med rare rather than as order Med Well.
I have eaten there during the day and the service and food was great but not Friday night. So would I go back, yes but not for dinner or at least not on a weekend.
We took our daughter to celebrate her birthday and because it was her birthday the restaurant provided a huge dessert on the house for her. Set she doesn't eat a lot of sweet It was more than enough for all 4 of us. We always try to have one meal at least in this fabulous restaurant.
Excellent food for the price; we had the Trout and the Green Chile fettuccine; both entrees exceeded expectations; our waiter Jeremy was very good.
This review isn't really fair, but Open Table requires me to fill in all the ratings. In fact, when we showed up for our "confirmed" Open Table reservations, the restaurant was locked up and closed and chairs were stacked on the tables. Several other guests showed up and were surprised and disappointed while we were in the parking lot trying to locate someplace else to eat. Hopefully this was an unexpected and temporary problem, but I wish there had been better coordination between Open Table and the restaurant. Next time I make a confirmed reservation on Open Table, I'll probably call ahead, just to make sure!
Good food and atmosphere
Service was superb. Food was average at best. Chicken Fried Steak great, special great, rest ugghhh
Food was inconsistent. I had the pork chop with whisky sauce -- excellent. My friend had the salmon soup and the mussels. She said they both tasted fishy, as in "yesterday's catch." The service was adequate; the staff seemed quite rushed.
My family and I picked this restaurant for our first meal in Ruidoso. We loved it. It was great that we were able to make reservations online. The beer selection was good and the food was even better. Some tap rooms that I have been to are expensive but Rio Grande was a good value. We will definetly visit again.
Service was not good. Took 10-15 mins before anyone checked on us, after waiting 20-30 mins to be seated with reservation. Appetizer never showed, food was just okay in my opinion, and my beer wasn’t really that cold. I never said a word, but the waiter could tell I was over it. In the end, they comped the app (which would have been a joke if not since it never showed up) as well as my beer, as an apology for what even they perceived to be a bad experience. Disappointed overall, but appreciated the gesture to make it right.
