Rick Erwin's West End Grille
romaine hearts, classic dressing, buttered croutons, parmigiano-reggiano
Signature Surf & Turf
center cut filet mignon with three NOLA bbq shrimp, market vegetables
The service and ambiance is stellar. The appetizer was great. The parmigiano crusted grouper was outstanding. The dry age ribeye is a hard pass. Terrible cut, lots of silver skin, gristle and tough.
Food was average, overall nothing special, restaurant overrated. The fillet was the only item worth mentioning, very good quality cut, the cook was good, but its a grilled steak not exactly a challenge to prepare. Service was excellent. Price was high for mundane food. She crab soup: less wine and more cream would have delivered a far better result, check the salt. Parm crusted grouper, fish cook was good, parm crust was just that, a hard overdone crust...not sure how that happened? Mashed potatoes were good. Au Gratin potatoes were reminiscent of a middling macaroni and cheese. This was a special occasion, birthday, dinner. At the end the waitress dropped a flaming fountain sparkler on our table. I'd say a nice gesture, except this thing was over the top...shooting a cascade of burning hot embers all over my clothes and emitting a cloud of noxious smoke to gag over. My overall impression and review: high end chain restaurant - less high end, more chain.
Amazing service from everyone. The food was absolutely delicious. I will definitely be going back. Thank you to everyone who helped us tonight
Our server, Emily,, was charming and professional.
me and my girlfriend were here for a wedding from virginia and the chain of “rick erwins” restaurant came up on open table. we ended up coming during a festival happening in the downtown area that we did not know about so traffic and maneuvering around was a little tough but we found a lot with a nice lot man to help us out. we had a 3rd day trainee as our server and he was adorable and professional. showed knowledge and was attendant to us. so was his trainer that was shadowing him. over all great food. relaxing atmosphere . would go back .
it was great to be welcomed by manager, Logan Tailor, upon our arrival. He is very attentive to all guests. Our server, Tara, was excellent, and our birthday dinner was superb.
Great to see optional sized down portions on the menu again.
Once again, one of our favorites.
5 of us in the party. I was the only Salmon person. Everyone else ordered steaks and said they were excellent. I sent my Salmon back as it was raw and when it returned it was still raw. I enjoyed my group and made the best of the evening.
Don't order Salmon! Order steak and have a great time and a great meal.
My wife and I went to celebrate our 30th anniversary. We had been here before for our 28th anniversary and had a great experience. This time was anything but great, we ordered two filets and they came out reversed, hers was medium instead of slightly well done, and mine was almost well done instead of medium. We sent them back, mine came out the second time tolerable, but still not medium. My wife’s came out medium again, so we sent it back again. When they returned this time we were told they finished it on “the flat top” so as not to char it too much, this ruined the taste of the steak. Our sides were lukewarm by the time our steaks were ready to eat, and we didn’t really get to enjoy the meal together since the steaks came out at separate times. The staff was super friendly and helpful, and did their best to make things right. They comped my wife’s steak and added a desert to go. The drinks and salad were wonderful, the sides were mediocre. Overall, for the price, this was a terribly disappointing experience, even with the comps. My advice would be to offer someone a free drink, an apology, and start preparing the entire meal from scratch while they enjoy the drink. For a $200 meal, time is far less important than quality. Not sure we will visit again.
Went there for a birthday dinner and we were very impressed with everyone’s friendly and helpful. Everyone assisted with the service and everyone stopped by to give birthday greetings.
The food was outstanding.
Our dinner order was placed wrong, our food came out in shifts and two sides were cool to the touch. Manager came out and apologized, say “sorry, apparently my cooks can’t read.” For $300 we expected better. Will not return.
Service as always was exceptional. The food was well prepared and wonderful.
We always enjoy the experience!
Steaks were undercooked, had to send them back twice. The steak was also tough. Vegetables were bland. The menu did not reflect what was online. Very disappointed.
Rick Erwins was such a great experience. The food was amazing and the service was impeccable. My fiancé and I will definitely be dining there again soon.
Great experience James was amazing!!
I was disappointed in my steak. I expected more flavor from a ribeye, but it tasted more charred. My fiance steak was delicious-he got the NY strip. The staff were very sweet for our anniversary. The wine pairing suggested by our waitress was wonderful!
I had not been to Rick Erwin's West End Grille in several months. But last night's visit was nothing short of perfection. Our server, Bethanie, was visiting from another location and took great care of us. She was able to change up one of the appetizers for me and serve it as an entree, which I really appreciated. She was kind enough to also check the Clemson University football score for me and would update me when she walked by. Kimberly, the general manager, took great care of us as well...she even overheard me say that I wanted something and she surprised me with it before we left (at no charge)! Lastly, Gianna, the new chef, made some delicious food for us. Everything from the chargrilled oyster appetizer to the braised short rib gnocchi was very tasty and beautifully presented.
But let me tell you about the wine...they had two exquisite wines available by the glass (using a Coravin pour). I have not seen any restaurants in Greenville doing this yet, and being a fan of great wine, this was a real treat for us. We can't wait for our next visit!
Superb! Excellent food, absolutely outstanding service, beautiful ambience, made us feel special! 100% would recommend!
Excellent food and very attentive staff! This was my first time there and we will definitely be back!
Great service, Liz was very friendly and knowledgable. Food was excellent!
Halibut with Gnocchi and Grouper with crabmeat- absolutely amazing! Gotta try the metamorphosis drink— and a James was a stellar waiter with such a positive attitude! Thank you for a wonderful experience!
Our visit to Rick Erwins was amazing. The food was absolutely delicious and the steak was cooked to perfection. Our server Justin was amazing he had a answer for everyone question we asked without hesitation and knew all the specials. He is an amazing server look forward to coming back to dine and Rick Erwins again.
big parties made it noisy and a long wait. not the restaurant's fault but we were an hour late to our final destination. a heads up would've been nice but our server was polite, apologetic, and accommodating. not the air we were expecting. food was great, we may have just chosen a wrong time
Excellent steaks and crab cakes. Service was great.
The food was excessively over priced and the quality of it wasn’t any where close to the price. I have had a fillet at Longhorns or Outback just as good or better than the one I had there. The only part of our meal that was good and could even be remotely close to value was the Calamari appetizer. We were extremely disappointed, our diner was $225, with tip, for my wife and I and it wasn’t worth 1/4 of that. The service and the atmosphere were very good, so I would rate them high for that aspect.
We Had the trout and grouper. The grouper was EXCELLENT but Would have enjoyed the trout more not o so drowned with brown butter and with some acid and same is true of a special request for a foie gras plate which I commend the effort. The service was over the top fantastic from bar to table - James was our server and he made everything so special - brought grilled lemons for my trout! This was my husbands 60th and James really added the finishing touch to our evening! Professional, knowledgeable, friendly and engaging - thanks again James you made our night!
Clemson parents weekend and our daughter’s birthday
Fabulous experience. Our server was fun and very accommodating.
Met another couple for dinner. The crab cakes are the best anywhere, even the beach! And the steaks superb! Our waiter Terry was excellent. Always have a good experience here.
First time here and won't be last. A classic steakhouse. Amazing food. Our server James was excellent. And Rick Erwin in person stopped by our table to say hi, who does that anymore 🤷🏻♀️
Excellent, friendly service, good drinks & great food!
The food was amazing and the service did not disappoint. The server was very knowledgeable on the wine selection as well as the food. Valet parking was great as well.
Always a pleasure dining at West End Grille. The valet parking is so convenient on a Friday evening, too. Excellent wait staff and excellent chef & crew.
The food was fantastic, the service was great, the lighting made for a nice date atmosphere. Overall it was a fantastic location to take my wife of 18 years on a daye.
My only gripe was it was uncomfortably warm in the building, I wore a polo and jeans and was hot, so I felt bad for the wait staff who had to wear button shirts, ties and then a jacket on top.
We were greeted kindly, sat at a nice table. They were prepared with a nice greeting card signed by the staff for our anniversary. The waitress was knowledgeable and on time. The restaurant is slightly outdated, only bc we have been going there for probably 15 years. It still looks exactly the same, down to the leather pillows on the lobby bench. The food is always exceptional, but could maybe have used a garnish for the $46filet. Overall it works, we left happy.
Only go there for special occasions, and have yet to be disappointed. Food and service is very good.
We have eaten here several times and the food is always outstanding. It is a bit pricey so we tend to save it for special occasions. Mr. Erwin frequently circulates in the restaurant to make sure patrons are well cared for.
One of Greenville’s best! I love that everything isn’t al la cart.
We had a great evening. This was our first time and it was an outstanding experience. The food was fabulous and by the end of the evening we made Ben, our server, smile.
Service was very slow and waiter was mostly absent at our table. Not sure if the delay was due to kitchen issues or not.
