This was a dinner I had looked forward to for a long time. The space is warm, inviting and intimate. To watch the ladies cook and plate the food was something I really enjoyed, it was obvious by the smiles on the women's faces that they too were enjoying the evening. Each course was magic, once tabled, one of the waiters spoke in great detail about the ingredients and history of each dish. My only 2 concerns; 1. I felt the food was delivered too quickly and also plates removed to quickly from the table. I really wish they had left all the plates and removed them all at one time once finished..... I was usually the last one finishing each course. 2. I also wish the wine list was a bit more varied, both in offerings and in price. There were only 2 or so offerings of red under or around 50, most hung it the 125 - 200 range. All in all it was an amazing evening. I will start saving my $ so I will hopefully be able to return! ( this place is not inexpensive by any means.)
$135 for pre fix menu isn’t a bad price. However, we didn’t even order a nice bottle of wine and the total price of our bill with tip was the same amount that we have paid at Michelin star restaurants. My husband had 3 margaritas and I had two glasses of wine. Food was good but lacking the extra special quality that would be expected for the price. Caviar and truffles (truffle actually could not be tasted even by itself) could not be tasted and enjoyed with the plate. Great ambiance and service was good.
This is the best Mexican restaurant in Dallas in my opinion. Its as much of an experience as it is a meal. The food is amazing and home cooked by the chef and his mom and aunt in an open kitchen. Each course is explained in detail. And service is perfect. I can’t wait to go again.
Food was phenomenal; atmosphere was great..the most authentic Mexican cuisine you will experience in Dallas...will definitely be back..
Phenomenal. Super authentic but forward looking food. Great ambiance.
Worth every penny. If you get an opportunity to come, please take it. The food is crazy abundant and the authenticity is unreal. This family has truly mastered their craft.
There were some fruit flies, and a few odd smells but overall it was a decent experience. I am not a very adventurous eater and I do not like very spicy food, so it was not my favorite restaurant.
Great overall experience. Small intimate room that seats only 14 in the entire restaurant. Creative authentic Mexican food with great spices with each course narrated by the staff. A must dine in Dallas.
This was the greatest meal I’ve ever had - and I’ve been to 100 restaurants in Dallas
Wonderful, unique experience. Loved it all
This place a hidden gem. Wonderful food and great service. It's not cheap but well worth the cost.
Absolutely AMAZING!!!! Fabulous food, amazing chef, attention to the smallest of details and just an all around OUTSTANDING experience! We can’t wait for our next trip to Dallas just to dine again! Thank you to the entire staff for such an awesome night!
Purepecha was amazing. Multiple times my date and I said “this my might be the best thing I’ve ever tasted.”
You can tell that each course is deliberately and passionately planned, and the chef does a great job explaining what you’re about to eat.
Best dining experience in Dallas! The food was incredible, fantastic portions. Wine was delicious and service was extremely attentive. Lots of fun!
It was absolutely phenomenal. The atmosphere, presentation, and most importantly, food were out of this world.
Awesome - unique menu small atmosphere
This is the best restaurant going in Dallas. The food is inventive, thoughtful, and executed perfectly.
It felt like being invited into a Mexican grandmother’s kitchen. A truly intimate experience that’s unlike any other “restaurant” we’ve been to. The food is amazing, but it’s the ambience and cultural lessons that make you feel as if you did more than just dine.
The food was outstanding and overall it was a unique and wonderful experience. Highly recommend!
When we moved to the back room, it was like being transformed to another world. Outstanding food prepared in front of you. Would go back next visit - so much good food. Wine list OK
One of the best dinners I've ever had in my life!! The food was absolutely amazing, and the service was perfect. It's definitely a little pricey, so I certainly won't be able to afford to go as much as I would like, but it is absolutely worth it for a special occasion! Highly, highly recommend.
Really wonderful experience. The food was fantastic and it was a lot of fun. We would definitely do this again. They paid close attention to my food allergies and didn't sacrifice flavor having to go around gluten and dairy restrictions.
Phenomenal experience.
This was an amazing and unique experience! Honored to share this evening with the hosts. I would recommend to anyone!
This was such an amazing experience! Between the food, ambiance, and outstanding service, this is truly a remarkable place in Dallas. I definitely recommend this for anyone looking for a special dinner place :)
An incredible one-of-a-kind experience. Excellent service and the food was out of this world!
There was way too much food! Portions should be reduced by 2/3 for 8 courses. As good as it was I felt I paid to feel uncomfortably full. The ambiance is nice and intimate but for the price you are paying needs to be more attention to detail.
What a wonderful experience getting to try authentic Mexican food and learn some culture. Service and food were well above expectations!
This was absolutely awesome. Would highly recommend it to anyone.
Wow, wow, wow! The details, beauty and taste of the food were incredible. It was a lot of fun to watch the chef and his mother at work with their food. The service was impeccable. The only thing I might suggest to make the experience more fabulous is to not serve the courses so close to each other. There are eight courses and little time to rest between them.
Incredible culinary experience. Humble, down to earth approach to modern luxury cooking. The chef and his family create some of the best food i've had anywhere, and it just happens to be in the back room of a taco joint (which is also really, really good).
Well worth the cost for a special dinner or celebration. In line with "Chef's table" on Netflix.
Such an incredible experience!
Amazing food and flavor combinations. Portions could be a little smaller, because when it tastes this good it’s hard to exercise self control. Over 8 courses, if you can get ridiculously full. But the overall food flavors and dining experience are second to none.
One of the most amazing meals I have ever had.
This was one of the best dining experiences I have ever had. We went for my wife's birthday. She loves Mexican food. Me, not so much. Well I loved every one of the 8 courses. The food, the presentation, the ambiance, everything was 5 star in my opinion.
Best meal ever in Dallas!
Great experience! The intimacy of the dining room really makes for great theater. The chef does a great job plating and presenting the food providing a little backstory for each dish at the beginning of each course. The server team is very attentive and engaging. I thought the plates would be small but they really give you a healthy serving of each course. If I had to improve anything it would be the air conditioning but it's summer in Texas so I can't really fault the team. Worth every penny!
If you have food allergies, I absolutely would not recommend this restaurant. I listed my allergy in my reservation (gluten – celiac) and the host called me the day of our meal and assured me that "everything back there is always gluten free." Then when the dessert came out and it was a LITERAL PIECE OF CAKE, I thought something might be up. Sheesh. At that price and level of fine dining you would think the guy could at least talk to his chef before telling me the menu would be gluten free. Luckily I didn't eat the cake but I had already eaten the other courses that, based on my body's reaction for the next 24 hours, definitely had gluten in it. I called the next day to let them know and the same host insisted I was mistaken and barely apologized. Such a bummer – the atmosphere is so charming, the meal really was delicious, and I want this place to succeed. This is such a cool spot! Unfortunately they really shouldn't hire people who can't do something as simple as check the menu for allergen concerns, especially at $120 per plate before drink costs! Me and my husband coulda flown to ACTUAL Mexico and back for the price of our final bill and probably not gotten as sick as I did lol. I just can't recommend it based on my experience.
This restaurant is an interesting situation. Nothing here is awesome and nothing is terrible. The only negative I have is that the price point is a bit high but the amount of food is also more than average. I think the staff needs more experience, and the wine list needs to improve. The room temperature was a bit too hot, and trying to cool it down with a portable unit is not the right choice. Another comment I have is that they have two seatings, with a tight schedule. If you will delay the first seating, you can't rush the people out because you have the second seating waiting. At the end of the meal, I wanted to have a digistif and coffee, and they boldy told me "no" because they had to seat the second group. Based on the overall experience, and the price, I can't recommend this place
A fantastic experience with incredible food, education about the history and trends of Mexican cuisine, and absolutely delicious food. Highly recommend for anyone with an appreciation for great food and a non pretentious atmosphere. I will be back!!
