The food is good, but service very slow. We waited an hour to have any food or drink even though we had a reservation
We had 5:45 reservation to dine In between Berkeley Rep program (as did half the audience!) We were seated at 5:50. Had great server who took our order promptly. However, we ordered entrees only and those didn't arrive until 7:00!!! Play started again promptly at 7:30!! We had to eat in 15 minutes. Given all the advanced reservations, why didn't you offer a Theater Special that could be served quickly. We didn't hold it against our very apologetic server, but I've never had to eat dinner for two at $150 in 15 minutes...
Dear Kathy, Thanks for your review--please accept our apologies for Sunday. We were down a cook, and the entire crowd arrived at once, but many of the guests arrived 15-20 minutes late, adding to the crunch. We do have a theatre special on the menu exactly for this need-speed. We will work with our staff to direct guests to the "speedy menu". Thank you for understanding. Chef Amy
Service wasn't the server's fault – the kitchen was way back up and it took over 40 minutes to get our order. Revival serves a lot of the pre-concert and pre-theater crowd, and its inability to organize the kitchen enough to send out orders in a timely way is bad news for diners, who, when they get their dinners, have to wolf them down and bolt. And that's a shame, because the food is very good (although the scallops on the paella that I paid an extra $12 for were overdone...).
Food was awesome! Service was horrible. It took 45 minutes for the wine to get to the table. I guess they don't chill their sav blanc. We ordered a bottle and they said they had to flash chill the wine? Never heard of that. So we ordered another bottle and they returned 20 minutes later and told us that bottle was not chilled either. So I said can you bring us a wine list of what you do have chilled! Crazy.
Came here for Valentine’s Day dinner based on listing in OoenTree, (mis)understanding the chef had prepared specialties for the day. Instead we weee met with “regular menu” fare. It took more than 10 to meet the waiter. Once we hid, he was very attentive. Kitchen was supper slow. Appetizers & entrees took over an hour to come out to the table. We weren’t in a rush, but that’s not timely. And, many around us must have been waiting as long or longer.
Excellent food for sharing and great service
Location is great for going to Berkeley Rep. Good bar and desserts. Food is meh. $11.00 green salad is small and uninspiring for price. Butternut with ginger soup bland and served lukewarm. Steak tasty but overcooked veggie, nothing special for $35.00. Overall, convenient but overpriced for so-so food.
The food is lovely. The music/noise/whatever is horrid. We found ourselves eating fast just to get out. We remembered that was why we had stopped coming here.....now we were reminded.....too bad....the food is very good and we would love to have this as a convenient restaurant for the Theatre and Cal Performances.....we probably won't be back.

The service was very attentive and thorough with explanation. I loved the charcuterie broad; the presentation was simple but very elegant. The pork chop entree was a bit blanded, a little under seasoned. Overall, waitress was great and atmosphere was wonderful.

We've eaten here many times and the food is consistently, reliably good. It's a great place to have dinner before a Berkeley Rep performance, or just for a nice evening out. Tonight we had hot crunchy sweet potato croquettes, a delicious salad with pears, radicchio, and blue cleese, and perfectly cooked salmon. The atmosphere is lively and the service was good.

I love Revival - great food....delicious vegetarian dishes, all food well prepared and well seasoned...nice wine and beer available. great location for dining in downtown Berkeley. The venue is broad enough, that I eat there a few times a month and always feel there is a wonderful tasty variety.

we had a nice dinner, but the service was erratic... lots of people bringing out food who did n't know what the other was doing..... wines were not great. ambiance was a bit cold and stark.

The food at Revival is fantastic - even a pretty standard Kale & Beet salad was just wonderfully flavored, and the cheese was melt-in-your-mouth high quality. The vegetarian croquettes were divine, 10x better than the ham and cheese ones I got at an unnamed high end restaurant in the City last week. The service was a little slow to start (it was restaurant week), but our server was just the right amount of attentive, very knowledgable, warm and authentic (and my family works in fine dining, so I'm attuned to these things!). The ambience is fun and stylish, with wallpaper that came out of vintage music machines. We had a vegetarian meal this time, and ate like queens, but last time I was there I had the burger and thoroughly enjoyed that too. The dessert, salted caramel hot fudge sundae, was divine, and even the decaf was delicious. Amy Murray has created an excellent approachable menu - it's a new favorite!
I had a 5:30 reservation on a Sunday and service and kitchen were simply overwhelmed. Everything was slow and came with a lot of apologies, when I saw a waiter at all. This whole experience felt understaffed and it showed. The food was fine, but not so fine as to justify the service experience.

Everything about our meal was just right. We'd gone to a more expensive restuarant the week before and notice just how great Revival way in comparision and NOT over the top pricy. Yummy beet salad and yummy pizza! Dessert was espresso was heavenly too!

Unbelievable the worst experience my husband and I have ever experienced. We made reservations well in advance. We arrived on time, the host seated us....and that is the end of the story, The noise was loud, the staff was clueless on table assignments. We sat at the table 25 minutes without a hello. Thus, We left and no one even noticed. So...this restaurants needs to train their employees to be more responsive to their customers. Look for better restaurants in Berkeley ....sadly this place needs management training,.

The menu on Open Table was not accurate to what was offered at the restaurant.
Our service at Brunch on Saturday can't even be kindly called lackadaisical. It was non-existent. The only person doing his job was the young fellow filling water glasses. The food is consistently good here, although pricey, but we won't be returning unless the service improves.

The complimentary Belini (mimosa) was the best I have ever had. Everyone enjoyed their food but I thought mine was the most amazing. creative and flavorful eggs Benedict ever seen. The crispy fried chicken and the whole presentation makes it unlikely that I will ever order another standard Benedict. I look forward to another visit.

Very noisy. Food uninspiring. Pizza good, but cassoulet mediocre (beans very good, duck not). Very pleasant attentive staff.
One of the best salads (beet) and seasonal pizzas I have ever had. The service person was one of the best I have had in years! I will be back.

We had Sunday brunch with friends. Setting was nice, tables by window or inside. Banquette seating might be a little difficult for seniors. Servers were excellent though cocktail, bar service was slow- no problem for us as we had plenty of non rushed time to chat before our Bloody Mary and variation of Ramos fizz arrived. They accommodated our dietary restrictions (lactose intolerant and preferred substitutions) easily. Highlights were farmhouse omelet, French toast, billionaires bacon,beignets and recommended deviled eggs with trout roe we had on earlier date. Coffee was hot, full bodied. Great brunch or dinner spot if going to Berkeley Rep. or Freight & Salvage. Highly recommended!
A major disappointment last Sat. . We have been dining there for more than three years, before Berkeley rep.. it was our go to place - more than a dozen prior visits... in the past, always good meals, interesting menus... Now, the opposite.. very sad decline.
The menu is a truncated version of our prior visits [ about two months ago]. Many familiar items gone.
The dishes were all misses.... Mezze plate, skimpy as opposed to opulent in prior visis.
Veggie Paella, no flavor, items tossed on rice.. no thought or care to the dish.
Their "famous pork chop" which was always a favorite, used to be juicy and flavorful, now over cooked, dry and no taste.
An usual crash and burn for a place we used to count on...
Will not return.
I can only offer our sincere apologies. I am the same chef, cooking the food I believe in, training my cooks to cook it and plate it correctly. The mezze should be a full plate of 6 different vegetables. The Vegan Paella is getting rave reviews--lots of thought and care behind this, including a custom sauce of meyer lemons that I pick from my sister's tree, then preserve, and puree with roasted peppers and toasted almonds. The Chop should have been juicy. We strive for perfect, we do care.

Revival is hit or miss. Lately it’s a hit! Get deviled eggs, vegetarian paella, salmon, etc. And Nika is simply a GEM!
We chose Revival for its proximity to Berkeley Rep. The meatball appetizer was good. The side salad was nice, but for $11 a little small. The vegan paella was some Spanish rice with a few veggies. For $24 I expected a whole lot more for my money. The food came quickly which makes me think things were just reheated. The tea selection felt pretentious, and no decaf coffee. We won’t be back.
Dear Anonymous, I am so sorry to hear you did not enjoy your paella. It is a pretty hearty dish, chocked full of butternut squash, broccoli, olives, chard, mushrooms, red bells, garbanzos, capers, olives, and a romesco sauce. I'm sorry you felt our selection of Art of Tea is pretentious--I love good tea, and researched tea companies thoroughly, with the goal to have interesting teas that you don't find everywhere. Just a holiday fluke that we ran out of decaf. Thank you for the feedback.
The $15 Kale and Beet salad consisted of a pound of rough Kale with 2 or 3 small pieces of beets and barely any dressing. Terrible.

This is one of our most popular salads--we will work with our cooks to ensure everyone is executing the salad as intended--robust with yellow and red beets, kohlrabi salsa, walnuts, fennel, and goat cheese--and we do train them on perfect execution. Theater (Pre-) dinner
We had a fabulous meal at RBK. The staff were friendly and efficient. The food exceeded expectations - every bite delicious.

Good food, good cocktails, lame service. It took forever to get a waiter to even take a drink order — and our “waiter” was very difficult to get to the table...and once came after clearly being out smoking. Yuck. I would like this place to get its table service right...
