Welcome to Reverend JW Simpson, a cosy cocktail bar with a quirky design, offering an insight into the life of the former inhabitant. Our namesake, the good Reverend, may have been permanently consigned to the depths of obscurity were it not for our enthusiastic builders. Having begun demolition of the basement we discovered an apartment and, after some investigation, we found reference to a Reverend JW Simpson of the Parish of Fitzrovia, who occupied the flat until 1986. We drew a picture from various remembered scraps of the collective neighbourhood memory and decided that he was a rather lovely chap who wasn't a stranger to the odd tipple. Reverend JW Simpson still retains the original room dividers, wall coverings, flooring and tiles, subtly exposing the former building's kitchen, bathroom, living room and bedroom. All around are signs and mementos of the former occupant and we, his self-proclaimed disciples, raise a glass to our namesake.

This place is great! Cocktails are great! And has a very cool speakeasy feel. The snack selection is limited to nuts and olives but i guess you are really there for the cocktails. Tables are slightly small but managable. Have been here twice and will definitely go again

We only had cocktails, cocktails are amazing (specially the one with wasabi) - good music and very nice venue (loved the old room)

Great place! Took ages to find which i guess is the point :) Bartender was attentive and knew what he was talking about, recommended great cocktails. We were late but they still were able to accommodate us which was great! cool quirky vibe, and comfy sofas. Would definitely return! make sure you make a booking as it is quite a small area. I didnt eat there so can't really say it is 5 stars for food but didn't want to give it 1!

Great after dinner hang out. Welcoming and friendly service with great cocktails. Quirky yet cosy basement offering you something different to the usual bars. Impressive!

I would recommend any cocktail-lover to visit JW SImpson. The cocktail recipes are very authentic/original and high in quality, perfect for a first date or just a meet up with friends. Thanks!
