Chris McMillian is a New Orleans bartender and a co-founder of The Museum of the American Cocktail. Imbibe Magazine mentioned McMillian as one of the top 25 most influential cocktail personalities of the last century. McMillian, a fourth generation bartender, has been the chief bartender at several New Orleans bars, including the Library Lounge at the Ritz-Carlton and Bar UnCommon. As a cocktail historian, McMillian is known for telling stories or reciting drink-themed poetry while making drinks. McMillian has been mentioned in many magazines such as the New York Times and Wall Street Journal, and has been a public speaker at institutions such as the Smithsonian.
Chris and Laura are always the perfect hosts. When Chris starts pontificating about the history of cocktails the bar almost comes to a stop and listens to his amazing tales. Highly recommended. Get the crawfish grilled cheese and a mint julep to win the day!

Wait person didn't offer a list of specials and I didn't know there were any until another staff member gave specials list to other guests. We both ordered salads and instead of bringing them out first, they were brought with the entrees and there was barely enough room on the table for four plates and two diners. The food was okay and way over-salted. I think this is more of a bar that serves food than a foodie destination that has a bar. Just wasn't impressed.
Restaurant was mostly empty when all others in the area were booked to capacity. Had a strong musty smell like there was water damage in the floors, walls or ceiling. Food was ok, but presentation was poor.
We're so lucky to have one of the world's best bartenders and such an incredible chef working together in the same fun restaurant & bar!
I am extremely impressed by everything at Revel. They exceeded my expectations with food service and beverage. You will not find a better bargain anywhere. The server was absolutely fun. We will return bedtime in New Orleans.
Had a great time for our first experience. Will definitely come back.

First of all I have one of the best cocktail bartenders in the history of New Orleans. So I went there and food wise and expect much but I was pleasantly surprised. The service is great and a crab pasta which my wife had and a black and drum fishWhere I had was superb
The pasta was overcooked, the drinks took a long time to come, and the service seemed a little off. The restaurant has a ton of potential, but they need to do better.
This family business offers delicious and unique dishes. The owners are extremely friendly. Lunches are priced very reasonably.

Their superb 4-course August “Coolinary” menu starts with a classic cocktail as the first course - very ingenious; we had the Old Fashioned and French 75. Proprietors Chris and Laura are cocktail aficionados, New Orleans historians, and they run a friendly bistro with excellent food and service. Highly recommended.
Food was not really good just OK.
The food was delicious but there was a weird smell in the foyer of the restaurant. It took awhile to get service at our table even though we had a reservation, otherwise everything was very good.
We had a party of 7 - made reservations well in advance. restaurant was not busy when we arrived or left drinks too extremely long to come out. food was lackluster, over spiced or the pairing of flavors (ex: peanut butter burger) not as interesting as it sounded. One of our party's order was completely wrong and she didn't get the remade order UNTIL AFTER DESSERT WAS SERVED.

We went for a friend’s birthday. Birthday girl was running late and I love that I was able to change the reservation time 30 minutes before!
I had put in a request in the “special request” box to have shots waiting for us, including a non-alcoholic version and thought “eh I’ll see if they do it, not a big deal if they don’t”. They totally did and the service was beyond phenomenal!!! The food was great, but truly the service itself made the whole night. Our server genuinely cared to make my friend feel special. Thank you!!!
A great visit with one of the best bartenders/mixologist you will ever meet - Chris McMillian! Thoroughly enjoyed the visit and hearing stories about NOLA and Louisiana from Chris.

Our dinner at Revel had the welcoming feel of a meal at home, assuming you are lucky enough to have a great chef and great bartender in your family. The food was great, the drink menu was spectacular, the desserts were to die for, and the MacMillian family and staff couldn't have treated us with more warmth. Revel represents everything that is great about New Orleans, and Chris MacMillian's efforts to keep the mixed drinks of Prohibition era in New Orleans alive alone are worth the trip.
I very much enjoyed my drinks and my dinner. The restaurant is on the loud side, however. It was difficult to have a conversation. As with all restaurants where I make reservations, it would be nice to request seats at the bar!! Our waitress, Bree, was excellent and made our meal exponentially more enjoyable.

Sat the bar and though they were a little busy, I wasn’t even greeted for over 5-10 min. Oyster chowder was good but only 1 small oyster in it. The fish looked wonderful but was undercooked in the thickest part of it. Wasn’t in the mood to send it back, so just ate the cooked part. The risotto and asparagus were good.
This place is great! A great neighborhood find, with a really cool menu, and a outstanding cocktail list. It’s really laid back, and it’s a great date spot.

It’s a cute, cozy little place with very good and creative small plate offerings as well as a few entree. The brussel sprout special was delicious as was the unusual “corn dog” appetizer and boudin balls. I also enjoyed the cheese plate. Happy hour is every day until 7 with great wine and cocktails. The service is friendly and efficient. I really enjoy going to Revel. (The Bar is fun too! It has that neighborhood feel to it)
Fantastic! I had to come back after less than two weeks, and it won’t be the last time. Chris and Laura are wonderful, their cocktails to die for and the food is amazing.
Fish tasted like liquid smoke. Mint julip had a sprig of mint, but did not appear muddled. Waitress kept squeezing between our tables to serve patrons on upper tier...having her rear end in my face got old.
Good local place, small and better suited to small tables. We were seated next to an extremely loud table but think it is atypical. Lots of cool cocktails and they know all the history behind them.
Culinary and drink menus are creative and delicious. Server was on the spot and helpful. Bar service is slow but it’s likely because they nurture each and every cocktail to perfection.
