Small plate Asian fusion from a new perspective. Shinji Muramoto's flagship restaurant first opened its doors in 2004. It was, and continues to be, the realization of his creativity and his passion to bring new flavors to Madison. Here, Shinji offers his interpretation of the comparatively young style of cooking that is Asian fusion. It is his belief that this style of cuisine is best experienced in a small-plate format, as it promotes sharing and therefore creates the likelihood that his customers will attempt new things. ***Due to technical difficulties online reservations are not available at this restaurant. The best Japanese restaurant in Madison. The sushi is always excellent (try the duck roll), and non-sushi plates are just as good (the pork belly sliders were a real winner at our table). Highly recommended.

We always enjoy dining here. This is the first time we booked through Open Table - the menu on this website isn't up-to-date, which was disappointing because I had picked out a few dishes I wanted to try that weren't available. The Dessert Sampler is one of our favorite things about this restaurant and is a really great deal - 5 desserts to share for around $15. However, the desserts were a let down this time. The chocolate avocado cake was an Iron Chef challenge gone wrong. Spicy tuna roll is always delicious. The Asian slaw is also fantastic and a great deal - you get a huge mound of it and it's a great palate cleanser. This wasn't our favorite visit, but we'll still go back.

We went for the $30 all you can eat deal on Sunday and found plenty of items to choose from. We enjoyed everything we ordered and left with a full belly.

We enjoyed a nice sushi dinner to celebrate a birthday. Service was very good; selection was good, and food was delicious. Served quickly and was reasonably priced.

Our reservation was ready and we were promptly seated in a location I had requested in advance. Cocktails were excellent, service was fast, and Kate was a wonderful server and very attentive.

The restaurant was extremely warm. The sushi was disappointly the same? You basically had to use your hands to scoop it up cause chop sticks was impossible to pick up the flaky rice that did not keep the rolls or Nigiri in tact. So sad about this place. Luckily the merchant is right around the corner and will have to try another sushi place. Won't be back.

Good combination of sushi and various rolls, as well as entrees that they serve tapas style. The scallop entree in particular was one of the best dishes I've had at a restaurant in quite some time. Will definitely make it a point to come back if we're ever in the Madison area.

Large lunch portions; creative sushi as well as cooked menu; happily accommodated my gluten issues. Veggie roll with beets is remarkable. Cheesecake dessert indescribable and delicious. In reservation I mentioned need for wheelchair access but arrived to find locked doors and NO signage. It's 26 years too late to require me to telephone for access outside a restaurant's door. When I complained, he pointed out the 1:4 slope freight ramp which leads to a narrow porch outside the restaurant, a connection blocked by a table and huge flower pot.
