L’Ostal is a Provencal restaurant rooted in history and tradition celebrating the cuisines of Southern France & its boundaries. Stemming from the old Occitania language, the word ‘ostal’ refers to house & the warmth of hospitality that encompasses welcoming one into your home. Throughout the six dialects of this language starting in Catalonia, stretching through the Languedoc into Provence and onto the Alps of Piemonte, they all embrace this welcoming through their cooking. We celebrate the traditions of each country through their amazing cuisine as well as showcasing the wine and heritage of indigenous products. We look forward to bringing our warmth in hospitality & dining to the great community of Darien, Connecticut. Welcome to our home at L’Ostal.

Outdoor seating is available, but only offered weather depending, and reservations can be made day of, only over the phone, starting at 2pm on the day of.

The food at L'Ostal is delicious. The maitre d' is very attentive and very focused on ensuring everyone has a good gastronomic and overall experience. Staff was attentive and very polite. The chef sent us a complimentary order of the Fugaz bread, which we had not ordered but was a lovely touch as we were first timers at this restaurant. The Cauliflower gratin was honestly heavenly. And I have had a lot of gratin from living in France. My husband ordered the signature gnocchi and i had the Merlu fish (Hake) in a salsa verde with lentils and squash. Both were really well executed. I loved the herb dressing on their green salad (salade verte) as well. We will definitely be going back !

Food was outstanding, as usual. The cauliflower gratin was particularly special. Service is attentive and caring. Joseph is the best, so personable and professional. Wine is well priced. We always enjoy our dinners at L’ostal!

what a wonderful evening thanks to kyle, eugene and the amazing team l’ostal! the tortelli pasta special was beyond! tasted of italy thanks to mike!!! haricot vert, fougasse, the green circle chicken & birthday gelato were so delicious! thanks again!

A terrific experience, as always! The menu was very interesting. The food outstanding, even the next day. The service was superb! And the ambience was comfortable and elegant. I particularly liked the N/A cocktails: I'll have to remember not to come during Lent because that's when I normally give up wines and spirits.
