Reid’s Cafe is located in beautiful Sugar Mountain, NC. We love the intentional, the specific, and the well-cared-for. We work closely with our local farms and purveyors to curate fresh, seasonal menus that feature regionally sourced meats, a rotation of fresh oysters and select seafood. All of our breads, pastas, and pastries are prepared in-house daily. Our Bar offers local beers, seasonal craft cocktails, and a well chosen wine selection. We are currently operating under all Covid-19 restrictions and following all CDC and local guidelines. The health and safety of our guests and our staff is our #1 priority. Outdoor reservations are by phone only. We look forward to seeing you.

I got the pork chop medium and it came out undercooked. The server did ask if I wanted it done more but I declined. My wife’s Mahi Mahi was so so, was expecting more flavor. The oysters and drinks were fabulous but our entrees didn’t hit the mark.

Dane is an incredible Server! That is definitely an important part of this review. We enjoyed an amazing pasta dish with some fresh made pasta and Pistachio Peato, on the table was also their infamous pork chop, and the roast chicken was delicious. If you are into oysters, you must try some here. Their selection of oysters is ever changing, and they are fresh and delicious with multiple sauce options and all the right trimming including grill, Buttered, toast wedges. we were too full for dessert this time but last time was a Key Lime Trifle. Amazing

A fun menu with some interesting choices. We had appetizer salad, entrée, and dessert. Two dishes were sadly way over salted. We let the waitress know, and she made sure not to ask how our food was after that. fortunately, the following dishes were excellent our entrée was very well executed, dessert was outstanding as well

The food was great. We had made reservations for an outside table, but it was cool, so we asked to be seated inside. The only available space was at the bar. (We understand this is not the fault of the restaurant.) The bartender is also the server, and he was constantly busy with fixing drinks, so the meal service wasn't as good as we might have liked. He did his best given the circumstances. We would definitely go there again, but I would hesitate to sit at the bar again, simply because no bartender should also have to be a waiter.

This is the Gem of the High Country! The preparations were excellent and our server was great! On the table; Beet Salads Pan Seared Mahi Whole Carolina Trout with an amazing Cream Corn and some crispy baby Okra Fried Chicken (to die for) Dessert was a Key Line Trifle with Fresh Whipped Cream and it was truly amazing. Enjoy!

For dinner, we had the Whole Pan Seared NC Trout which was the best we had ever tasted. It was an ample serving and really big enough to split if you ordered one of their tasty salads or starters. The fresh sweet corn and fried okra served with the Trout was a delicious complement, too! We definitely will return to Reid’s Cafe and Catering when we return to the mts.

Blistered peppers and okra-a must try! I had the Curry chicken salad on focaccia... focaccia may not be the best choice of bread, but the flavors were balanced and taste was delicious. Husband had the peach BBQ chicken sandwich - tender and juicy...just the right amount of peach flavor. Both served with crispy home made chips, just salty enough. We used the leftover sauce from the peppers and okra for a chip dip. Lastly, the hibiscus tea was a refreshing accompaniment to our meal...it's very lightly sweetened.

We had a delicious meal last night at Reid's Cafe. The service was amazing and we didn't lack for anything. The ingredients in all were fresh and tasted like they were just picked from the garden. We had appetizers, salads, dinners and desserts and everyone loved their meal. One says it's the best lamb they have ever eaten!

I have eaten here many times over the years. The service is good but the price of food for portion sizes is out of touch for the area. The noise level was so loud that we could not even converse with each other comfortably. Will probably not return and I have supported the restaurant for almost 10 years.

I love everything about this place—-food, ambience, service, exciting but not weird menu items, seasonal menu changes, friendliness of staff and patrons, cocktail, beer and wine choices. Because of all these wonderful things, I put up with the noise level in the dining room on a busy night. Prefer to sit in “the kitchen” room or outside. Make you reservation now!
