The hot ham & cheese sandwiches with the hot steak fries were wonderful! I love the atmosphere for casual, cozy lunches with friends. The staff are all so friendly and Ben, our server, was very attentive to our needs during dining then let our group of 3 friends, enjoy the quiet, country atmosphere to sit and chat for an extra hour. The smell of the food cooking in the open kitchen added to the pleasurable surroundings as did the beautiful view of the lake. This restaurant has become my "special" place to take friends to enjoy good food and relaxed conversation.
We arrived on time and was immediately seated. Waiter came over right away and greeted us, poured our water and explained the days specials to us. About 5 minutes later we ordered and was served a great meal. We received boxes for our leftovers, paid and left. It was a nice evening at the lodge.
I’ve been for a large family event, with a friend and a small group. It’s been great each time. It is healthy, clean, local food prepared wonderfully. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, relaxing and cozy. The staff are nice and accommodating. It is just an overall enjoyable place to dine.
Made online reservations for New Year's Eve and only could get 2:30 or 3:00 pm. Took the 3 pm reservation only to find out that they were closing at 3 pm and were only serving Brunch since New Year's Eve was a Sunday. They should have treated this as a special occasion not a regular Sunday. Another couple was disappointed there was no dinner menu. Made for a bad New Year's!
We have been before and they did not disappoint this time either. I like to order specials and did order the vegetarian omelet but must say it was average. I think I may have done better building my own. My wife's meal steak and eggs was excellent. The wait staff work well together and we will be back as well as recommend to others which we have done already.
The Rockfish Schnitzel was overly breaded and fried. So much so that I couldn't taste the fish. IF it hadn't been accompanied by the red sauce I would have returned the dish. My husband had the same with same comments.
The chicken orzo soup was very good with an excellent broth base.
This isn't the first time we've been at your restaurant, but it is the first time we've been so disappointed with the entrée.
A nice alternative to ubiquitous chain restaurants in the area; the dining room is new and very pleasant to sit in. I also really appreciate the use of local produce and meats and the fact that the menu is prepped onsite. All that said, the food is good, but not great... under seasoned, lacking intensity and in some instances somewhat inattentively prepared. The menu lacks focus and is probably bigger than it should be. I'm not sure if the location in a Senior community influences the food/menu, but we have some hope that it will sharpen and improve (if permitted); there's some potential here and worth a visit with appropriate expectations. DEC 2017.
The venison osso buco special was good, but the citrus glazed salmon was the worst I can remember. The sauce needed more citrus and less sweet--tasted just like corn syrup. The salmon was overdone--perhaps the chef thought it too old to leave it at medium rare or medium, where salmon is best.
This was our third dining experience here--it keeps getting good reviews from many, but we're not impressed and we're not going back.
