Redbones has gone down hill from what it once was. The ribs were dry and fatty. They were great once but that was a long time ago.
great food and drinks!
Awesome food! Awesome service! The collard greens were the best part. Will definitely be back!
delicious bbq in a funky restaurant with bright art on the walls. Very live atmosphere. However, that being said, I would've given 1 or 2 more stars due to the service. First off the bat, there was so much confusion at the front door, 2 people taking names and just seating people, where as they seemed confused when we mentioned we had reservations party of 4, 7pm. One person figured it out and we were led to our table. We were then greeted by a waitress who really seemed like she wanted to be anywhere but there. I get it, but seriously, it was not crowded for a Friday night, surprisingly. She made us feel very rushed. she dropped off drinks in a rush, dropped off waters in a rush, when I had a question, she seemed put out. Then when we ordered our meals, my husband specifically ordered the Smoked BBQ Chicken dinner, with his 2 sides. Our meals came to us and she gave him his dinner which was just a Fried Chicken dinner, with sides. When he mentioned this to the waitress, she responded as if we were stupid, saying "Yeah, well we don't have the Smoked Chicken tonight," Well, don't you think you could've mentioned that to us as my husband was placing his order?? Seriously, and my husband is the nicest man (he's a head chef in another restaurant, by the way), and he just decided to take it, because everyone else had their dinners, and it was getting late (very slow service too) and he's not like that, bad karma with the kitchen to send back food. She was quick to drop off the check, didn't even ask if we wanted to see a dessert menu. I saw her and she had already changed to her street clothes. Looks like she was dying to get out of there. Yes, we will probably go back, but maybe for a lunch special, and upstairs where it has a more relaxed vibe. BTW, fried chicken was tender, and moist, but skin, which looked crispy, was really not, it was soggy, no crisp or crunch to the texture, but tasty. Collard greens very flavorful, too
Family get together. Location was a factor. BBQ was very good. Portions were more than adequate. Staff was accommodating and friendly. Value for food was reasonable
Food and drink were fabulous. Service and server were very friendly and helpful.
It’s a noisy place but that’s something you can over look as everything is perfect!
Awesome food! Very chill and casual place.
Best BBQ food in Boston area - especially the St. Louis ribs and brisket. Staff is very friendly and helpful with choices and the rotating draft list is impressive
Awesome!!! I loved it.
Delicious dinner and fun atmosphere.
Awesome bbq at reasonable prices
Best BBQ around bar none. Have visited several of the "top" BBQ spots in the area and none compare. This place is true over the fire BBQ. My family has visited three times in the last month it's so good. We live an hour away so that's saying something!
The beef brisket is unbelievable, as are the beef ribs and Memphis pork ribs. Great selection of sides, combination plates and other non-beef/pork options too. My oldest daughter loves the catfish and my little ones the chicken and waffles. Not to mention the that bag of powdered sugar beignets to finish!
Parking can be an issue as the area is very busy and parking is scarce so arrive a little early. There is a metered lot around the corner but it's hit or miss Seating is tight upstairs but very family friendly. I prefer the downstairs area as it's darker and more unique, but it can get a bit "lively" later in the evening, so keep that in mind if you're bringing little kids.
If you love great BBQ, especially brisket or ribs, this place is worth a visit!
What BBQ? That’s BBQ.
Always great smoked and pulled meat. I'd give it a 5 star except that the brisket on one dinner was luke-warm. But we enjoyed it anyway.
Servers was very polite excellent service
The server was exceptional and was extremely kid friendly. Food was great!
RedBones is such a treat for my remote colleagues from the south. I love bringing them there for some great BBQ options. I love coming here for business or personal dinners and lunches. There is something for everyone! The downstairs space is fun, but I personally prefer the casual energy in the seating by the kitchen or at the bar.
Food was served cold and did not get what we ordered.
Always consistent when you can get in. Always busy . Parking is the issue
The food here is consistently good - and this time was no exception.
best BBQ in Boston. Ribs and pulled pork were slow cooked to perfection and the all the sides were fantastic - onion rings in particular
Returned to Red Bones after a 10 years since last visit, not much had changed. The food was outstanding as always! The ambiance and service was great!! The fried okra was absolutely amazing, lightly breaded, no grease, fresh and flavorful. Ribs and pulled meats are out of this world!! Keep up the great work!!!
Basic BBQ in Cambridge/Sommerville; decent sides, large portions, good smoked meats, especially brisket. Nice beer selection and friendly staff. My third visit, from afar, left with been-here-done-that feeling. Good for large groups (6+).
I’ve already recommended Red Bones to several friends.
My husband ate at Red Bones frequently when he was on the faculty at Prospect Hill Academy.
Everything about Red Bones was awesome!
Waitress was great!
We will go again to Red Bones. Also we never felt rushed.
Good food and attentive service
We always enjoy Redbones. If you like (love) BBQ, you really cannot go wrong. Yum, delicious. Just don't worry about the calories.
Great gluten free service!
Great meal. Nothing fancy but tasty. We are downstairs which had a fun vibe.
Being a lover of Texas beef ribs, and having experienced the real thing in Austin Texas, this place was a total let down. The ribs were skimpy and dry. This veggie rice was sticky and cold, and the biscuits were hard and cold. Very disappointing as my Sister had raved about this place years back and I never got the chance to try it until now. If beef ribs are your "thing", don't waste your time.
Great food, great drinks and a fun atmosphere. Thanks!
It is always a great pleasure to eat at Redbones. Perfect meat, good beer selection, delicious sides, very friendly and cozy ambience. It is definitely a go-to place for us whenever we crave bbq. I’ve had their pulled pork and beef brisket so far and they were 12 out of 10!!
The food and service is always great. It was a very busy Saturday night so conversation at a table of six was a bit of a challenge. Baby back ribs, BBQ beans with burnt ends, brisket, all outstanding. Don't forget the corn fritters!
We did the tourist thing in the Boston area on Labor Day weekend with the kids. I stumbled across this place as a kid-friendly option that was close to our hotel. The food was delicious, with huge portions. I seldom find really tasty collard greens here in the northeast but theirs were excellent. My only complaint is that the downstairs floor of the restaurant is extremely dark, which honestly would have been fun if we were just out for a date or something but was a little challenging with two little kids.
Great BBQ for Boston. Been around for 30 plus years and has stayed busy. Make reservations.
We love to go to Redbones, but we were hopeful that since we made a reservation, we would be seated downstairs, which is less noisy. However, we were crammed upstairs which was noisy..and crowded because there was a roof leak, so some tables were not being used.
Great food , excellent service ! Love redbones ! Never disappoints
Delicious food. Good service, Will be back.
We enjoyed ourselves. It was what we expected. Everything was very good
