Great food, large portions, not cheap, a bit loud, overall very satisfied.
We've been coming to Tracton's for years. Their salad exceptional was way overdressed and my halibut was overcooked. At $57, one would think the chef would know how to cook any kind of fish. On the other hand, the salmon was cooked just right and was delicious. Didn't have dessert this time, but they are usually great. So that's why my mixed stars.
Red Tracton's is by far one of my favorite restaurants!
Excellent as always!
Great as always--this place is never disappointing
We like Red Tracton’s and normally have very good experiences there. We decided to have dinner there this evening which was New Year’s Eve and also happens to be my birthday. I made the reservations about a week before and specifically mentioned that it was a birthday when I made the reservation. Sadly, Red Tracton’s suffers from holiday dinner big-itis. We were not seated in the regular restaurant but in sort of a screened-in porch which is an area near the front which usually contains special parties and happy hour, in which they had set up tables for overflow dining ... it was pretty chilly in there. In addition to our entrees we ordered their special salad which is tossed table side. The salad was limp and tasteless. The service was ok, but the entire experience was not the warm, comfortable ambience, service and food we expect from Red Tracton’s. Not once was the birthday ever mentioned and it was specifically noted in the reservation. We were not even asked if we wanted any dessert. An expensive evening for a special night which turned out to be not so special. We knew it was a holiday and going to be crowded, but it wasn’t a great experience for the money, tonight. Oh well.
This place is always OUTSTANDING!!!! Just go!!!!!
Excellent service & food!!!
My first visit to Red Tracton's was on Christmas Eve so it may not be a fair time to evaluate. It started off strong-- warm bread and good salad but when the main courses arrived, things soured a bit. We all ordered prime rib since the restaurant built its reputation on it and we were sadly disappointed. Didn't compare with other prime rib chains like Lawry's. The mashed potatoes were rather bland. The final blow was the chocolate lava cake-- it was like eating a dry sponge without the lava. To her credit, our server took it off the bill when we complained. The server was very friendly and upbeat but not the most attentive. All in all I would say the experience was just ok.
Approx 1lb lobster tail $125 & overcooked! Scallops served lukewarm almost cold...not very edible. Overall not a good experience.
I love the old school style of this place. Nothing inventive, just classics but with a piano bar.
We had reservations for 2 at 7:45 to sit by the music and didn’t get seated until 9:45. The bar gave us a drink to make up for
Always enjoyable dining! Good food!
I booked us on Open Table. I included a note that it was my wife’s birthday.
We arrived, the host asks if we have a reservations, I said yes, under name Ben. The host goes “yes, Ben, it’s Katherine’s birthday”, we replied yes. The host did not say happy birthday to my wife and told us to follow him to our table.
We ordered Sprite, they brought soda water with lemon. We asked them to take it back and get us Sprite, it came back exactly the same, we gave up.
My 11-year-old food was ribs, she told us that her ribs are dry, I tried it off her plate, sure enough, super dry, even the child could tell.
My wife’s steak was not good either.
For dessert, we ordered chocolate lava cake and mango sorbet. Mango sorbet never came, we didn’t bother saying anything.
Our servant comes after we were done with the lava cake, and asked if we wanted any coffee, my wife asked for a decaf and I asked for a regular coffee. Some minutes later our servant showed up with the bill, our coffees never came!!!
At no point they ever said happy birthday to my wife and didn’t bother to bring her one candle. I have dined at expensive places before, they all bring you a small piece of cake with a candle on it and wish you happy birthday.
Looked at the bill, there was a charge for Sprite; at least there was no mango sorbet or coffee on it.
I will never go back to this place. That was our first and last time!
Good food. Compared to other restaurants we visit, I felt Red Traction’s was a little overpriced.
The food was okay but it should have been outstanding for the prices that are charged. Our twice cooked potatoes were too salty and dry, and the Lyonnaise potatoes were dry and tasteless. My daughter ordered the wedge salad and I was surprised there was no bacon. Just a wedge and dressing. The prime rib was tender and my son in law did rave about his pork chops.
The service was excellent but the food did not live up to our expectations.
Decided to have our Thanksgiving dinner at Red
Tracton’s. It did not disappoint! Fabulous as always!
Service impeccable. Food very good. They need to upgrade their bread. Way, way too expensive.
Always love Red Tractons. The portions are gigantic but yummy. We are a BIG enthusiast of the onion rings- fortunately there were 6 of us so we managed to finish the order!
Really love this old school spot. First time i had a great experience which is what brought me back. This time ordered the fish special and it was pure ammonia... they quickly apologized and handled things properly. I was bummed but it can happen anywhere just with their prices they shouldn't try to pass off old fish
Awesome as always! The fried chicken was a bit dry.....everything else was great!!
I’ve eaten at Red Tractons several times. This review is for my most recent visit. We ordered my girlfriends favorite Rib Eye steak. It tasted good, but not as great as other times. The lobster bisque was excellent though. Fun place to dance and listen to music.
I’d like to point out that I have had the best rib eye steaks at Red Tractons before. Just this time , did not meet the bar they set which is higher .
If you want quiet ask for the back room
Loud, clubby but tired decor, decent food but very expensive. Scallops were good but $50 for five, or $100 for 10, and they were not jumbo. Twice-baked potato was enough for three people. We were seated in a dimly lit room with booths and large and small tables with comfortable but tired decor. One over-served table of eight was so loud, it interrupted conversation.
We enjoyed our food. There were very loud people near us and that isnt really the restaurants fault . The swear words and noise just put a damper on our evening. There was also a table that included high engery children running around. I must say the kids were better then the adult table. I would think we would of been comped a little. Oh, well still enjoyed the food.
Amazing food here! Pleasantly surprised.
Salmon and seafood pasta dishes were fabulous.
Delicious warm sourdough bread with plenty of whipped butter.
Will def. return.
A note for management though: bathrooms were gross and need a remodel.
so much noise you couldn't carry on a conversation across the table
I love going to Red Traction's when I'm in town but they have jacked up their prices so high I may have to look for another restaurant.$44.99 for 6 shrimp cocktail is asking too much
While Red Tracton's always has GREAT steaks, we had the Sunday Special, Fried Chicken, Fried Shrimp, and the Seafood Pasta in the Light Cream Sauce and ALL WHERE FANTASTIC!!! We Love Red Tracon's still after 20 years of dining here!
We had fun at the bar before dinner chatting with our friends and the bartender. Then we had a great dinner and service. After dinner we enjoyed the music and the dancing! An evening at Red Traction’s is always fun and delicious ❤️
Great meal as always. For those that think the decor is outdated please stay away. Find a sushi bar to poison yourselves.
We are always made to feel welcome and appreciated.
Extremely expensive for the type of food. The service was terrible. First and last time.
I forgot her name but our waitress was the best, food outstanding, we will be back & soon! ! ! !
Love the food!
We love the crab legs at red tracton’s! My husband is very fond of liver, which is not available many places, everything we have tried has been very good. The service is excellent, and the portions more than generous.
If you have a taste for Lobster don't miss this special treat....Open face Lobster salad sandwich. It's incredible and worth the trip. But be sure to reserve it in advance, it sells out quickly. Now available on Fridays and Saturdays. Yum!
Always the best !!! Tracton’s is my go to for steak and cocktails... best salad, great steak, nice people..
Everything on the menu is excellent. Great portions, you will not leave hungry...
Always a favorite, from the marvelous prime rib to the excellent "New York steakhouse" ambiance, Red Tracton's never disappoints. Sitting at the bar, with Jimmy pouring scotch, you might even forget what zip code you're in. If you're a horse racing aficionado, this is the place, for you. Suffice it to say, we love the place.
Had lunch here, we had lobster bisque (best ever) and almost a meal alone. I had the open face lobster sandwich, it was amazing. We left full and with leftovers.
