Red, the Steakhouse - Beachwood Ratings and Reviews
The food was absolutely wonderful. The service was great as well. Our only issue was that bill did not get charged correctly to our debit card and then when it got cancelled twice, the bank put a hold on the card for fraudulent activity and we had to use an alternate payment source. Not a big deal since it was the end of the evening and we did not plan to use the card again, however, the card was locked until the next day.
The food was decent except that they put onions and garlic in just about every dish. All of the sides, except mashed potatoes (we ordered 4) came with onions and garlic mixed in. Even a side of spinach greens. That's great if you love onions and garlic but not so much if you don't.
What else can I say, Chris, Penny, and James are the best!! We always love seeing them! On this particular night Chris waited on us and as always, outstanding service! A true pro! Side note: Shelly the manager is always a big help picking new wines for us to try!! Brad- excellent as always!!
First experience at Red. Hands down the best steakhouse in Cleveland (including that fancy 'wont mention the name' overrated place downtown that just opened). Service was friendly and perfect. Steaks well prepared. Excellent sides. Definitely our new special occasion destination. Thank you?
My party of six was comprised of four out-of-towners, three of which had never been to Red. They were so impressed with the food, the service, the atmosphere and the overall experience that they now consider Red to be a "must return" restaurant. For me, it was outstanding, as always. While I have visited both Cleveland locations, the Beachwood site is my personal favorite.
Servers are knowledgeable and will provide intuitive suggestions. Meals are cooked well and seasoned liberally. Drinks are tasteful. Decor is subtle and elegant, as is the restroom. I was surprised at how small and quiet the dining room was. Was expecting a larger noisier room because of the high ceilings, but was relieved to find it a good match for a romantic dinner. Will definitely keep it on the list for a special occasion in the future.
Steak was very good to superb. The rest of the food was not memorable. My associate had Arctic Char and he enjoyed it very much. The noise level was barely tolerable; I was hoarse when I arrived and could not sustain a conversation.
The service and staff were excellent.
N.B. The restaurant is extremely difficult to find for a non-Eastsider. Call for detailed directions.
Excellent service, excellent food. I would highly recommend this restaurant for a special occasion dinner. A little pricey for everyday dining. They were very attentive to our needs. I asked for my steak to be prepared with half the amount of salt, and it was perfectly seasoned for me.
We went to Red for our five year anniversary. Our dinner was wonderful, however, I wish we had had a more private table. The neighboring table guests were quite annoying, which made our experience less romantic. Also, there was a back up in the lobby and there were a lot of people standing behind us as we ate. I will give our server props- he was very attentive and brought us an awesome dessert.
It was a great meal, but could have been more romantic/ private.
We have been coming to Red since it opened. It was my favorite steakhouse for years. We went Saturday evening to celebrate our sons birthday. The menu has changed and so has the food and service. We waited over an hour for our main dishes to arrive. A server came over to tell us of a problem in the kitchen. When food came 2 of the entrees were terrible. The servers cleared the table before we were finished. We wanted to leave and had to wait 10 minutes to get a check. Think I’m done with Red. It was worse than the review.
Went for restaurant week. The steak offered with an upcharge was tough. The brocoli side was very over cooked and the mushroom polenta’s texture as way off. More like mashed potatoes. Service was extremely slow. Dinner took almost 3 hours.
I was very surprised. We have gone during restaurant week before and have never had this experience.
Everything from the stuffed peppers to the C.A.B. prime Ribeye was prepared perfectly and tasted fantastic. The service was amazing, we never had to wait or ask for anything. All around great night. If you are looking for a restaurant that can do it all, you will find that here.
Have been to Reds multiple times. Have always had a good experience however you should have high expectations as this is an expensive high end steakhouse. I ordered their CAB prime NY strip... cooked to medium plus. It came out medium rare at best. I sent it back ... it came back is less than 4 minutes ( ? time to cook more)...still was medium rare.... sent it back again... it finally came back cooked as I requested. The flavor of the steak was diminished as you would expect from cooking a steak 3 times. If you dine here and you don’t like your steaks medium rare I would suggest you make sure they cook it to your liking the first time. For an expensive steakhouse I expected more.
In the USA the Steakhouse has turned into a fast food restaurant. Quality steak is no longer the domain of the wealthy or elite but a commodity of the every day person like myself. I miss the days when a quality steak was an experience to look forward too. Red the Steakhouse make jeans and sneakers common place. Casual dinning mashed with what resembles professional servers of years gone by.
The service was adequate, the food ranged from edible to mediocre. Our champagne was served in chipped glasses. I ordered scallops which were nearly charred. My husband ordered the cab prime new York strip steak and it was good, but not great. It was a least cooked properly. The best part was the risotto side we got. All of this took over two hours even though we had a reservation and were seated immediately. We did not feel the experience was worthy over the over $200 bill.
Terrible! 3 steaks were sent back cold. The ribeye came back in 2 minutes so it must of been microwaved. I think for the price of the steaks the food should come out hot as ordered. One was ordered medium rare and came out cooked all the way through. We have eaten here a number of times before and it has gotten progressively worse . The sides were lukewarm as well. Compensation was taking off the overdone steak from the bill. With so many choices in Cleveland one would think they would try harder. Embarrassing for a birthday party.
