    Our meal and overall dining experience here was spectacular. Our food was exquisitely prepared, and beautifully presented. We loved the variety of dishes on the menu, interesting and tasty appetizers and nice balance of meats and fish available. Our table had Elk chops and steaks as a main, which were delicious and exactly as we ordered it (medium rare) either a choice of lovely sauces. Our server was attentive, pleasant and clearly very experienced- she made us feel welcome and did a wonderful job discussing the specialty dishes and overall menu. We loved everything we ordered, from appetizers to desserts. Never felt rushed and the food came out perfectly timed. This place should be at the top of ur favorite restaurant list! Lastly, I would be negligent to not mention that the cocktails were delicious; I think their bartender is a genius! Seriously, if u do not have time for dinner (though u should make time !) please sit at the bar w a fabulous cocktail and appetizers… it will be memorable!!

    Having dined at Red Stag many times before I was very disappointed in the quality of food, the attentiveness of serving staff and the high prices that are charged without the high standards that have typified Richard Kessler's hotels in the past. While I recognize that the restoration and rehiring of staff after Helene were difficult and expensive, the rapid degradation that has occurred can only be solved by training and better cooking. As an example I was in Red Stag just nine days earlier and had a bison tenderloin that was good (not great) and a dish of Carolina grits that were delicious. By yesterday the food quality was poor and the grits tasteless. Based on past performance I know that the organization's expectations are higher than this.

    Luckily, our waiter David R helped us negotiate the menu and the wine list. This was our first time back since the hurricane renovation. It proved to be a wise choice. The food was excellent in particular my wife’s Bison tenderloin and my choice the Elk tenderloin. The sides were tasty and an overall superior experience. See you soon! Pete P

    Pleased to return after reopening to support local business. Was a favorite place for dinner but unfortunately not worth the price for what we received. My wife’s soup was tasty but not hot and her duck breast entree was tender but bean side and hominy cake less than favorable. My Caesar salad was a very appropriate size but dressing was not what I expect for Caesar salad. My elk loin was tasty but the truffle fries contained more small and over fried pieces than acceptable. Restaurant very nicely compted a desert for my wife for her birthday. We were seated in a back room and very appreciative for the location and quiet. Perhaps a bumpy start up after Helene damage.

    Steaks were average and overcooked. Side choices lack imagination for what is supposed to be a top end steakhouse. Service was lacking. This place has so much potential but sadly we will not be back.
