   Note that this restaurant is actually inside the Embassy Suites Hotel. We were told that the hotel is a popular spot for weddings, graduations, quinceaneras and events being held at the Marin Center - Marin Veterans' Memorial Auditorium. The restaurant has local suppliers for fresh veggies and even grows greens and herbs onsite. My guest and I met on a Friday night at 5:45, and enjoyed a nice glass of wine at the bar first before we had dinner at the restaurant a few feet away. (There is a daily happy hour at the bar for hotel guests.) While there were other guests in the bar and restaurant, thankfully, neither was very crowded. The dining space was in an open atrium space that was clean and nice, but not overflowing with ambiance. For dinner, we shared the crab cake (1) appetizer with side greens; it was loaded with lump crab and delicious. We each ordered the rotisserie chicken that was also perfectly cooked and full of flavor. I ordered a full chicken and took half home with me; my guest ordered a half chicken. We did not order dessert. The table service was very attentive and informative, the portion sizes were very good, the selection of beer, wine and mixed drinks was robust and the prices were reasonable.

   We first noticed an ad in the Marin IJ for a price fixed dinner for Valentine's Day at the Red Oak. Thinking this would be interesting, we tried the number in the Ad to make reservations and the number was wrong. After much diligence, we gave up and made our reservations on Open Table. This is a small hotel restaurant in the back of the bar of the newly remodeled Embassy Suites. It mostly serves the hotel guests. Each of the three courses were good, though, they need to work on their desserts. Calling a plain chocolate cake a fancy "fudge indulgence" was a disappointment. The entrees were excellent and the crab cakes were outstanding. They tried a 3 to 4 piece band in the small space which was the wrong idea. My husband and I could not talk across the table because it was so loud. If they need live music, they should try quiet piano music. Overall, this was an interesting find in our neighborhood.

   My husband and I were impressed at the work you went to, to make our Valentine experience a lovely one. The music was wonderful, and the food delicious. I loved the crab cake and would have liked to have more. One of the best ever. We will return for another meal soon.

   Food was very good. Dining tables are well spaced and room is large, open with super high ceilings so more COVID safe. My only complaint was that my cookies for dessert weren’t remarkable. I also would have liked my Prosecco in a champagne glass, not a water glass but that’s not important. It’s quite an attractive space. The hotel is tucked away so I hope it gets enough business as it’s a lovely dining experience with friendly service. My sister’s NY steak was divine as were my truffle ravioli.

   Went for dinner on NYE. The bar is situated outside of the restaurant area, more like a lobby bar, which is fine. We were seated promptly, only about 4 tables with other people, so not busy. Did look like only one server for all of us. Drinks took about 20 mins to get to table. Food was ok. Nice selection on the menu, but pretty bland in flavor. Server was pleasant. We ordered the loaded tator tots, which came with out some of the "loaded" part (no sour cream or green onion), calamari, chicken pot pie and grilled cheese. Was nice that they had a GF bread option. Comfortable seating as well.

   This restaurant is not ready for prime time. The food is good. They had one person bartending and waiting tables. He did his best. Not his fault. Also this is in a hotel in the civic center. Not that that is a bad thing.
