Traditional menu items are executed with painstaking precision, keeping the focus on the beauty and fresh flavors of the fish.
We take a creative approach in forging our signature rolls, resulting in inspired combinations of flavor.
Dinner: Daily: 4:30 pm-10:00 pm
The food was amazing. Our reservation was early, 6:00pm. It was not busy and we got seated at a table for 2. The hostess sat another couple right next to us even though there were plenty of tables available. The couple even apologized that they ended up right next to us. The whole time we heard what they were talking about and they heard what we were talking about. It was really uncomfortable and unnecessary.
We had to wait for our reservation- but staff was very attentive.
Fairly good sushi/sashimi for the Midwest. The menu selection is short but decent. The beer/cocktail/wine/sake list is especially broad. Roll I had was great (Toro negihama) the sashimi (sake) was good but you get small thin pieces. The wine lists is short but they offer some really good bottles (2 different Ridge wines from CA - Lytton Sprints - Petit Sirah and Pagani Ranch - Zinfandel). Based on the wines I know they were only ~2X retail value. Good place - funky with a coast/big city vibe & decor
The Ume Sour was delicious. Service was great. The two rolls I ordered were the least favorite I have had anywhere in Madison, or really anywhere period in a long time, especially the spider roll which is usually a favorite of mine. I was pretty disappointed, especially considering the prices and how long I'd been waiting to go to Red's new location (not that new anymore, I know). I probably won't return.
The wait was extremely long and even with a reservation we ended up having to wait 45 minutes past that before we got seated.
They serve one of the best Sushi's I ever had. The ambiance is amazing.
A great surprise!!! We will be back. The rolls were creative and very fresh great combinations of flavors.
Fantastic service! RED went above and beyond to make us feel special for our anniversary celebration. And the sushi was incredible! Our only complaint was that our food took a long time to arrive (50 minutes from the time we ordered until plates arrived).
First time - we'll be back. Close to the Square. Good sushi. Tight quartes for seating.
This is a beautiful place with awesome food, but small portions. While my children were full, my husband asked to stop for food on the way home. The service was excellent!
Rob, Kevin and Nate (bartenders) not only made fabulous creative cocktails based on what we like, but made sure we were enjoying dinner all through our evening. We've been here twice in the last week. Red is our new favorite Madison restaurant!
Food is fantastic and service great. My son has severe food allergies and they are very attentive and responsible making my son feel safe. Always my "must visit" when I am in Madison.
We had a great time but we strongly feel like our waitress was not in the zone that night, she didn’t look happy she was kinda rude and didn’t really care, the bartander were awesome we stopped and said thank you, and wished they were serving ours.
We took my son to Red during Parents Weekend at UW. Another student had recommended it to him. It was outstanding. Fun vibe. Great menu. Loved the brussel sprouts appetizer and The cauliflower tempura appetizer.
Our waiter was very knowledgable about the food and helped guide us in keeping to our tastes. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was fun which added to our wonderful experience at Red!
Food and service was fantastic. Their sushi is beautiful and tasty. Most quality sushi restaurants have access to the same high quality fish. Red stands out with their care to detail and the sushi rice is perfect! hot ala carte menus at creative and well executed!
Great service, well managed reservation, fantastic food (amazing selection). Everything was great, I just wish there was a bit more privacy available in the dining room. I know they are an energetic, modern styled restaurant, but there is really not an option for a private and/or quiet, romantic dinner here.
A bit slow but pleasant good food and ambience good value
This is our “go to place” for a superior family meal.
Went here with our college student to celebrate a birthday. Food and service were both excellent. Red is great for unique sushi rolls that are beautifully presented. Although sushi restaurants can be a little pricey, we felt like Red was a good value. We will definitely be back!
Great experience as always.
Service was very slow
Sushi was bomb
Best sushi in town.
Dining at Red is an event. A wonderful departure from the everyday. There exploration of non Japanese cuisine is adventurous but not as rewarding.
The three of us had a wonderful time. We loved our friendly waitress - very efficient without being intrusive.
Amazing as always! Best sushi in town by far! I go here for every occasion.
Super good and more reasonably priced the I was expecting. I was planning and willing to spend much more for the quality of food and service we received. We parked on the wrong side of the building but I actually liked that better, felt like goodfellas “ I don’t like to stand in lines, I like this way better”
Wonderful sushi and sashimi. lots of options beyond sushi. Nice staff.
Great place and food but the service was less then impressive. Our waitress took 30 mins to come back and take our order and we had to flag her down. She claims she thought she took our order already. When you go somewhere like that on a weekday date night it was very disappointing. Also we had to ask her for more water and drinks. Never checked in and wasn’t overly attentive until she brought the bill...
Very good sushi with some unique rolls. Service was good and the sushi was fresh and well prepared. Pricing is on the higher end of the spectrum as far as sushi goes, just FYI.
Sushi Dinner is a bit misleading and does not include rolls
Such a great experience. We were celebrating my girlfriend's birthday and they added a few touches to her food presentation to make it a little bit special.
5 stars all the way... we ordered cocktails, sushi and dessert and everything they brought us was awesome!
The food was amazing and the drinks are so good that I only wanted to have one but had to have a second.
We dine here with our son when we are in Madison to visit him at UW. We feel that it is the best restaurant in Madison and have to make it our first stop when we are in town.
Nice presentation of food, unique selection of sushi rolls, comes with good sauces.
very good sushi items, meat dishes need work. need a carb and or a vegetable to go with the main entrees.
Our server was incredibly amazing. He was very knowledgeable about all sushi that we chose and he wasn't overbearing the entire meal. Overall amazing experience with some wonderful drinks and sushi.
Friendly great service. Very fresh Sushi!
