Red Gravy is a traditional pasta house where all the pasta is made by hand. You can often find Lou in the dining room, making pappardelle or casserecce or Roe making ravioli or gnocchi. Roe is from Northern NJ and Lou is from South Philly and both of us know our way around a meatball; it's what we do. Think of Red Gravy as if you were going to visit your Grandmother, and Granny lived in a circus. We're big, bright and bold. What recipes we didn't grow up with, we jacked from vacations or simply made up. We have live music at Saturday dinner ! There are tables out front if you like people watching, a long bar and regular tables inside, and an additional 6 tables in our colorful courtyard, where your furry friends are welcome to join you. Life is too short to drink bad wine!!

It was a bit overpriced for what we received. For what we spent, we could have had a really great meal elsewhere. Food was okay, but not worth the price in my opinion.

Our dining experience at Red Gravy was outstanding. The service was impeccable and quite accommodating. The food was first-rate, although the macaroni could have been a little less al dente. We plan on becoming regulars.

Great Service & atmosphere, but especially the food. (We sat outside out back). Fresh greens on the salad, perfect texture to the pasta, delicious sauces, clams in vongole were great, nice wine list

Third time eating at Red Gravy for brunch. Try the Polpeta Omelet which is to die for and the Chicken and Waffles. They’ve also moved to a nicer part of town and expanded their space. Great meal and can’t wait to get back there for dinner when I return to NOLA

Loved it! If you have an opportunity to go here, do it! Our food was fantastic. The service was wonderful, and the best Italian food we have maybe ever had. We sat outside and the patio area was so quaint and cute.

We came in from Philly and chose this restaurant based on reviews, homemade pasta, and gluten free options. The ambiance is so unique and charming. There are so many options for seating- outside, inside and in the courtyard. Our server Mark was so friendly, funny, and fabulous. And last but not least, the food was absolutely delicious! We got the root vegetable confit and gf pasta and chicken parm. I only wish they would make the chicken parm gluten free otherwise thjs restaurant was perfect!

Thank you so much for coming in! When we were in Oregon for our honeymoon earlier this month, we had the vegetable confit at one of the vineyards. I couldn't wait to put my version of it on our menu. I'm so happy you enjoyed it. The kitchen and storage area is crazy tiny. I just don't have the room to store another type of flour and crumb blend to make the chicken parm gluten free. I am so happy you enjoyed your visit!

Our dinners were fabulous, very tasty and well prepared. There was even live music And we understand that is every Saturday night. Bartender was our waitress and she also makes fantastic drinks.

Dinner last evening was great as usual. From the bread and appetizer served with a perfect Manhattan for me and an excellent Pino Griggio for Bonnie. To the wonderful salad and main courses. You couldn't ask for better. This is a gem of a restaurant. Don't miss it!

My husband and I try to come visit NOLA to celebrate where we met many years ago. We always try new restaurants. Ted Gravy was a great choice. Arrived a little early and where seated where we requested and a great evening began! Drinks were great; service was superb; and the food- delicious! It’s a little pricey but the experience will not diss appoint. And yes, get meatballs- one will feed two people.

The restaurant was nearly empty, so the noise level was quite low. I suspect that it would be greater wirh a larger crowd, but that’s standard issue. The food was excellent. The portions are healthy. And our server Kate was cool and “on it”. She was happy and therefore we were happy. I also recall that Stacey is happy and cool behind the bar during a previous visit. And she loves a good 1980s movie. Liked the red gravy and the meatballs and the Bolognese. I think the others liked their meals as well, including chicken Parma and another noodly dish. Come here for the pasta (mussels and clams were terrific on a separate visit) and stay for the service.

I celebrated my birthday yesterday at my favorite restaurant, Red Gravy! The food was amazing as always but it’s the staff that seals the deal. They are all so welcoming, it truly feels like home! I can’t wait to go back!

My favorite Italian food in Nola. You can always tell that a restaurant is amazing because the locals go there. We have lots of great restaurants in New Orleans but this one stands out as one of the best. Food is fresh and always delicious. They make their own pasta which is unique and wonderful. Their red sauce is my favorite. Exactly how I like it. All the food is exceptional and I highly recommend eating there!!

Food is amazing. Very authentic Italian, very much NOT New Orleans Italian, so if that's what you're looking for, go elsewhere. Get the extra meatball. I don't care what you ordered, get the extra meatball. Cocktails were expertly crafted. Service was spot on. We got there early so it was nice and quiet, it did get louder as more parties arrived but we never struggled to hear each other. First time at Red Gravy, will not be our last. Stop reading this and go order that extra meatball.

We have had live music for our Sunday brunch for quite some time. Ads must be bought and paid well in advance of when they actually run. As with so many other things in our industry right now, sometimes, there is a problem with obtaining musicians.

Both of the service and the food were a comfort. Warm and friendly. The atmosphere on the patio, (heated) relaxing after a week of assorted Mardi Gras "Chaoticness"... I went meatless being Ash Wednesday, ordering the Eggplant Parmesan. Crisply battered on the outside, in a delicious pool of red sauce and melted cheese. The Ginger Italian soda was also a treat for a non drinker (think virgin Moscow mule.) My dining companion raved over the tenderness of her chicken Parm and the house Pinot Grisio. Friendly and attentive service. (My water glass never remained empty)

The Open Table Reservation was a breeze. However, the restaurant made it seem like they were super busy and super sought after. The management was rude about masking policy (in spite of the fact absolutely no kitchen staff or management wore masks) (could see when walking by). For being an italian restaurant, they failed at the meatballs (raw on inside) and undercooked pasta (stuck to the teeth). If not for the individual servers, I would have given it one star review.

Yes, I recall how you gamed our system by making 4 different reservations for the same time, effectively hitting our kitchen with a 16top, instead of simply affording us the decency of respecting our request for no large parties during Mardi Gras. It's also 125degrees in the kitchen. We're all vaccinated and boosted and have decided that we would not force ourselves to endure mask wearing under such extreme conditions. You just had to wear yours through the dining room.

The food, drinks, and service were fantastic. We were hoping to sit at a table in their courtyard, but all courtyard seating was unavailable for some reason the night we dined there, so we sat outside on the sidewalk. Being on Magazine, the traffic made for a not-so-quiet meal, but everything else was wonderful...

Great food, amazing service. We went for Sunday brunch and we're able to make our reservation online the night before. Our server was extremely friendly and professional. He helped make our experience even better. Highly recommend the zeppoles, which were lemon filled when we went. Served warm, they're absolutely delicious. The drinks were fantastic as well.

AMAZING FOOD and SERVICE! We had a window seat and it was perfect for our dinner before the Saenger. I always get the Arincini. My friend got the Zucca (ot sure of spelling) and I tasted it! Heaven! The Hugo cocktail was made perfectly.

We chose this restaurant for dinner during our trip to New Orleans and we were so happy we did! Red Gravy is a quiet restaurant in the Garden District with fabulous food and an intimate back patio. There were lots of gluten-free options and I enjoyed my Eggplant dish particularly since I haven’t had cheesy eggplant in a restaurant for years, since it’s not typically gluten-free. We’re definitely returning the next time we visit New Orleans!

After living in NJ and knowing NJ/NYC best places for Italian food, and reading chef/owner from NJ, had higher expectations-hoping it would be like eating at my favorite Italian restaurants in NJ/NYC, as it’s hard to find good Italian restaurants in Louisiana, just like it’s hard to find good creole/Cajun foods/restaurants up north. Zucchini appetizer, pasta and gravy excellent. Will probably come back another time, but order something other than the chicken parmigiana as that was not to my liking-too much breading-not crisp and also too much cheese.
