Rare Steakhouse on the Piazza is a classy establishment with an atmosphere that is both sophisticated and comfortable. Many of the starters include seafood, such as the calamari steak, mussels or crab-stuffed mushrooms. There are also vegetarian items like the fried green tomatoes and the cheese platter. The raw bar at Rare Steakhouse includes an assortment of oysters, clams on the half shell, king crab and an assortment of seafood cocktails. It is suitable for two or more people. All steaks at Rare Steakhouse are made from USDA aged Black Angus beef. Choose from cuts such as filet mignon, Kansas City strip, ribeye or porterhouse. Blackened pork chops are also an option on the menu and are served with onions. First time trying Rare. Want for brunch, our food was not good and my French Toast was not edible. It was deep fried and taste like old grease. Waffles seemed to be frozen then warmed up. Omelet was ok. Only thing good was the cheese grits. Our server was great and removed the French toast from our bill. Alas I will not be returning here. Hope its better at dinner? But do not want to find out.

I ordered the Ribeye and it might have been the best tasting Ribeye I have ever had. The others in my party ordered the filet and were very happy with their steaks as well. The sides were also delicious. Also told them it was my birthday and they brought out a delicious piece of cheesecake with a sparkler in it!

It was ok, but not worth the price. Was there on a pretty calm night, but staff still seemed overwhelmed. I would say the steak was "good," but definitely not a steak that should cost over $30. Many cheaper options in town for a similar or better experience.

I had the porterhouse. It was too salty and tough. Have had the filet in the past and is wonderful. Fried green tomatoes are wonderful!

I took my boyfriend here to celebrate his birthday, and we were excited to try Rare. It was a quiet night at the restaurant, which was a plus to us- the open air concept probably would have been pretty loud if they were full. Our waitress was sweet but clearly new and a bit inexperienced. She didn't have recommendations for wine or apps, tried to clear plates while we were still eating off them, and brought entrees out 5 minutes after the apps. We felt rushed out of the restaurant because she kept trying to bring the check, despite the fact that we were only a few bites into our main course and had half a bottle of wine remaining. The food was decent but (in my opinion) not worth the price tag. I spent over $200 for a dinner that we could have had for much less at other restaurants nearby. We love to try new places and order a lot of different menu options, but I don't see us returning to Rare anytime soon.

We went to this restaurant prior to a play. The food was excellent. One of our steaks was over cooked, but they replaced it with a perfectly done one. The calamari steak was excellent as were the sides we chose. Will definitely eat here again.

We paid $150 for a $50 meal... Very disappointed! I had the Alaskan crab legs. I could've got better quality at Publix! My husband had a steak that was not properly cooked and the mashed potatoes were too salty! We will never go back.

Excellent for a date night or maybe an anniversary. Excellent location. Close to a parking garage. Able to park and take a stroll in downtown greenville before or after the dinner. Rare has been here since about 2013 but it is somewhat hidden, to bad, because it deserves a little more recognition, but that also makes it nice so that it isn't crowded. Great selection of wines. Really like that the menu is À la carte. The sides say that they are "Family" but really they are more of a larger portion for one. We started off with crab cakes and both of us had never had crab cakes as good as these. Even when we have dined right on the ocean. AMAZING! Wife had the asparagus with her filet. Was tasty but a bit overcooked. I ordered the salmon which was really nicely seasoned and served on a well prepared bed of risotto. It was decent but I would probably try something else next time. It looked farm raised and not wild.
