   For foodies, stay away. For loud and raucous dining you might try it. With a name like Rare you would think the steaks would be exceptional. They are not. The wine list is poorly assembled. The waiter was attentive and very helpful and friendly. For this amount of money, go elsewhere. There is much better food to be found for the price. I just cannot see myself going back, ever. It is just too average.

   My husband and I have walked past this restaurant several times and remarked that we needed to try it. When we noticed it on the list forRestaurant Week, we did just that. Good move. The restaurant was fairly quiet but I think that was because we went on Thursday evening. I ordered the filet and my husband the pork chop. Both of our entres were excellent, as were the appy and dessert. We had a very good bottle of wine. Our waiter, Tray, was congenial, attentive and enjoyable to converse with. Definitely will go again.

   Food was terrible. Felt like we were at an Applebee's. Our server also rushed to get us out of there. Will not be going back.

   We reserved a table here for NYE. We were seated right away when we arrived, and received a booth, which I stated as a preference in my reservation notes. I was unsure how many the restaurant had, and was pleasantly surprised they honored the preference when I saw that they only had a few round booths. They service was top notch, we had a view of the plaza downtown, and we very much enjoyed the food. I loved the duck fat fries and my fiance was very pleased with his oysters rockefeller. We ordered two appetizers, two entrees, a side to share, and beverages. We expected to pay a decent amount for the quality (as well as quantity) of the food and were excited to see the bill was well under $100.

   The ambiance is nice, waitstaff terrific, and the decor is inviting, but we won't go back because the food was sub-par. My cocktail was bitter, but my guest's was delicious (cosmo). Appetizer was very good, but our steaks were dry and without flavor. (Our medium-well orders were cooked well.) The sides were bland without much seasoning and the combos (cream corn with bleu cheese crumbles) were off-putting. So disappointed because the staff is super.

   Four family members dined the evening after Thanksgiving. We each had a different entree, and they all were excellent. Our hostess/waitress was fun and knowledgeable, and made the evening even more enjoyable. We shared desserts, and afterwards on the ride home we all raved about the restaurant.

   We brought my almost 9- y/o Mum here for lunch because beloved and I adore the fried green tomatoes. She wasn't impressed, but then she's English and these are not what she's used to. More for us! Service is excellent, close without being intrusive. She did enjoy her cream of asparagus soup, a whole bowl, while my husband had a cup and I had the French onion soup. Both very good. Then she and beloved each had a grilled veggie sandwich which was big enough to share and still take leftovers home. We will be back again when it's warm enough to sit outside!
